Chapter Text
Dandy stood in his shop, in front of him was every toon in gardenview, gathered for something they never thought would happen, a megaphone was held in his hands, he was working with a crowd he knew hated him, but he had to do this.
“ hello everyone, as you know we have been having recent problems with our supply shipments, and it has come to our attention that we will not be receiving another one” he looked out into the crowd, seeing that the crowd was mostly judgemental.
“Me and the mains have talked about this and came up with a plan, we will go to the surface and attempt to live there.
“You will have the rest of today to prepare, use it wisely, only bring items of importance, we leave at dusk.
He stepped down from the box in his shop and went into the back room, he started leaning against the wall,no one trusted him sense the ichor operation and they make that abundantly clear, and for good reason too, it was his fault they were in this mess, but this was his chance to fix it.
But that was beside the point, he had to get ready for tonight, but dusk didn’t take long to come, and the toons gathered in the lobby once more waiting for directions.
In the very back of the crowd where Shelly, and Vee, the tv stood there completely unconvinced by Dandy’s proposition, she was the only main who didn’t agree with going to the surface, Shelly on the contrary was actually quite excited about the idea, it calmed Vee’s nerves a bit,
“Hey Vee?”.
“Yes Shelly” the tv said blankly
“I know that you don’t completely agree with Dandy, and I don’t either, but I don’t think he has any malicious intent this time”.
“ I just don’t think he’s forgivable, after everything he’s done, and now he wants to take us to the surface, there’s so many other ways to go about this, it’s just suspicious”
“I know but I want to trust him”.
dandy and Dyle interrupted their conversation as they stepped out to face the crowd of toons.
“the train is up and running, we can access the station without any troubles” Dyle spoke in a factual manner, this was nothing new to him, he left gardenview almost weekly up until the supply cut off. “The station and rest of the surrounding city is mostly abandoned, we should be fine”
The lethals ushered the toons into a small hallway that connected the lobby and the station, the hallway was unkept and and stained with ichor, the paint of the walls were scratched and tattered, it was tainted by the ichor operation just like the rest of the building.
And at the end of it, the train sat there untouched by what had happened inside, some toons rushed onto the train while others took their time to say goodbye to the building that they’ve been in their whole lives, but eventually they all got in.
After talking a moment to take in what was happening Shelly and Vee decided to go into the train, Shelly almost immediately rushed to the back end of the train, “Brightney!” Shelly embraced the other woman as if it was the last time she’d see her “Shelly it’s been half an hour” “I know, just missed you”.
Vee leaned against one of the support beams “hey Bright”.
The noise died down as it was interrupted by a voice from the front of the train “everyone please sit down, there are more than enough seats”Dyle scolded, before returning to the front of the train.
the toons settled, and the the train started up, Shelly looked out the window, as the train sped up gardenview slowly disappeared from sight, until it was what seemed like a world away, and it wasn’t coming back, everything she once knew, her whole life, was gone, forever.
The tunnels the train was passing through, slowly seemed too fall apart, cracks covered the concrete and dust plagued every surface, the lights went out about halfway through the trip, Shelly barely flinched, she was too deep in her trance to notice, it didn’t help she was next to two light emitting toons.
The train slowed until it skidded to a stop, Dyle clicked on a flashlight at the front of the train, the light was near blinding at first but they got used to it.
“we are going to be passing through a heavily restricted area of San Francisco, it is monitored by the military, make as little noise as possible, they will shoot on sight, be very careful” Dyle stated sternly.
The toons exited the train into the station, thick layers of dust stirred under the sudden activity, the tracks in front of the train were covered in rubble, it was eerily quiet, the only noise coming from the train and the toons.
As the last of the toons finished exiting the train, Dyle pointed his flashlight toward the exit of the station “everyone follow me, if everything goes well we should be out of here by dawn”.
As the group left the station the world became increasingly loud and bright, then they realized, those weren’t normal lights.
“Shit” Dyle muttered.
A group of gray trucks with what appeared to be a sideways hourglass on their sides drove towards the toons, when they stopped two people stepped out of one of the vehicles.
“SCATTER” a toon exclaimed from the crowd.
The toons ran in all directions, though most of them assumed that hiding behind objects they could clearly be seen through was a good idea, to be fair it worked on the twisteds back in gardenview.
One of the people from the vehicle sighed and turned to her coworker.
“Tim get the tranquilizers”
