Summary:

Lugia and Jirachi plan a picnic at a new park. They meet up, eat, walk around, and while sitting by a pond, Jirachi wonders if Lugia actually likes spending time with him. (This is kinda of a date but they lowkey don’t know it lmfao)

Notes:

(The misspelling in Jirachi’s texts are on purpose since I think he would text without even looking at his phone 🥹and also Lugia kinda likes to cook (??????) Work Text:

Lugia was sprawled across his couch, half-watching some random TV show he didn’t even care about, when his phone buzzed. He sighed, already having a feeling about who it was.

Jirachi: Heyyyyyy lugiaaaa

Lugia blinked slowly.

Lugia: What do you want.

A second later:
Jirachi: don be so serious!!!!!! I was just gonna ask you if youave seen the new parc that just got annunced!!

Lugia rubbed his forehead.

Lugia: Those are quite a lot of misspellings, but anyways, yes I have.

Jirachi: did ya go?????

Lugia: I haven’t gone yet.

Jirachi: welll maybe we can go togheter!!!!!

Lugia stared at the screen. Three dots. Then:

Lugia: …
Lugia: I have nothing else to do this weekend so sure.

Jirachi: YAYAYYYAYAYYAYAYAYYAYAYYAYA!1!!1!1!!1!!!!!1!1!!!1!!

Jirachi: when tho?

Lugia: Saturday seems fine.

Jirachi: OKAY!!!!!!!
Jirachi: so its gonna be liek a piknik

Lugia: You mean a picnic…?

Jirachi: YES that

Lugia: Sure.

Jirachi: :D

Lugia put his phone down, shaking his head with a tiny smile he would never admit to. They’d been hanging out a lot lately, so meeting up wasn’t anything unusual. Still… a picnic felt a little more personal. Maybe that’s why he immediately thought of making his special apple pie!

Time Skip to Saturday !!!!!

Saturday morning arrived, and Lugia realized something important:
They never decided what time to meet.

He sighed, grabbed his phone, and before he could type anything, it buzzed.

Jirachi: IM HERE

Lugia nearly dropped the pie.
He rushed out, and sure enough, Jirachi was floating excitedly near the park entrance, waving both hands like he was trying to flag down a plane.

“Lugiaaaa!!” Jirachi zipped over and practically tackled him mid-air. “You came!!!”

“I said I would,” Lugia replied, trying not to smile too obviously. “And I brought lunch.”

They found a quiet spot under a big tree. Lugia set out the blanket, the pie, and a few other things he’d packed. Jirachi immediately gasped like he’d discovered treasure.

“You made a pieeeeeee,” he whispered dramatically.

“I always make the pie.”

“Yeah but—” Jirachi plopped down, legs swinging. “You made it for us.”

Lugia didn’t answer, but clearly got flustered.
They ate, talked, and wandered through the new park. Jirachi pointed out every butterfly, every weird-shaped rock, every cloud that looked like something. Lugia listened, quietly amused.
Eventually they sat on a bench overlooking a little pond. The breeze was soft. Kids were playing somewhere in the distance. It was peaceful.
Jirachi hugged his knees, glancing sideways at Lugia.

“Hey… Lugia?”

“Hm?”

“Do you… like hanging out with me?”

Lugia turned his head. “Why would you ask that?”

Jirachi shrugged, eyes drifting to the water. “I dunno. You’re all serious and calm and… big. And I’m… me.” He laughed softly. “Sometimes I think maybe you just put up with me.”

Lugia was quiet for a moment. Then he said, “If I didn’t want to be here, I wouldn’t be.”

Jirachi blinked. “So… you do like hanging out with me?”

Lugia looked away, blushing slightly. “Yes. Obviously.”

Jirachi’s whole face lit up like a shooting star. “GOOD!!! Because I like hanging out with you too. A lot.”

He leaned against Lugia’s arm, small and warm.
Lugia didn’t move away.
The breeze kept blowing. The pond rippled. And for a moment, everything felt simple like this was exactly where they were supposed to be.

“You should make more of that pie”

“You know I will”
