Osamu opened a sleepy eye, looked at the alarm clock, turned it off and went back to sleep.
Aaah, rest. The blankets were warm and cozy, they covered it perfectly, and they almost felt like clouds. It seemed like heaven, and Osamu had no intention of getting up.
Unfortunately his sister did not agree with him.
"OSAMU! GET UP!” His sister Akiko shouted from the kitchen, suddenly waking him up. 'Goodbye heaven', Osamu thought a little melancholic.
Today was the first day of his second year at Yokohama High School, where his brothers Ranpo and Akiko also went (they were all three in the same year), where his parents worked and where his two younger brothers, Elise and Kyuusaku, would go.
So, Yokohama High School was one of the most important places for him and his family, and Osamu loved school (as much as a person can really love school)
There he had met many of the people he cared about the most (such as Kunikida, Ango and Odasaku) and it was the place that had brought his parents together.
'Ew, since when did I became so cheesy?'
Osamu got up, hurrying down to have breakfast before Akiko threw a bucket of freezing water on him to wake him up (she had done it once. Never again)
There was a mess in the kitchen, and it was to be expected since it was the first day after the holidays. His father was cooking pancakes, while Kyuusaku was attached to his leg, making his movements more difficult.
Ranpo was the only one sitting at the table, an empty dirty plate in front of him, and a lollipop in his mouth.
The ones who were definitely making the most noise were Akiko, Elise and his dad. Akiko couldn't find her butterfly-shaped clip anymore and was blaming Elise, who was hiding behind her dad. Nothing new.
"Good morning, Osamu. How did you sleep?" His father asked him when he noticed his presence. "'Morning. I was sleeping very well, until a witch woke me up.” He replied, glaring at his sister, who was too busy arguing with Elise to notice.
Osamu sighed, and went to sit next to Ranpo. "Hey. You look horrible. You should hurry to get ready: Mr Fancy Hat is coming, and you wouldn't want to look like a zombie in front of him now, would you?” Ranpo told him as a greeting, and okay, rude! And wait... "Why should I care if Chuuya sees me like this? I’ll let you know that I don't care at all what the slug thinks of me, and I don't understand what you’re trying to imply!” Osamu exclaimed a little offended.
How could he insinuate that he had a... crush (ew, even just thinking about it made him nauseous) on the stupid chibi. It had been a couple of years since not only Ranpo, but his whole family (even his parents from time to time, especially his dad) had this theory-completely false, mind you!- that Osamu was in love with Chuuya.
Bah, he didn't have time to think about him, it was just wasted brain cells. He had to focus on getting ready for the girls! Maybe he could convince one to commit a double suicide with him! (His parents had taken him to the psychologist for this idea of his. After several months, they said he was fine and not depressed, which was true! His idea was just to make Chuuya angry, since he always got nervous when he flirted with some girl.)
As soon as Osamu finished his pancakes, he immediately ran to his room (it was already 7:30, it took ten minutes to get to school and classes started at 8!) He quickly got ready in the blue school uniform and, after only fifteen minutes (which counting that it took an eternity just for the bandages was a record) he went down to the hall, where his siblings were waiting for him.
At that moment a short boy came out of the house next door, with red hair like fire, and a face that Osamu wouldn't mind kissing... what? Stupid Ranpo, he had confused him!
What Osamu meant was that the redhead had such an ugly face that just seeing her made him want to cry... yes, that's what he meant.
"Hey mr fancy hat! Thank God you're here, Osamu didn't stop talking about you during the month you weren't here... please don't ever leave again.” Ranpo greeted when Chuuya approached them. How did he dare to expose him like that!
"Stupid mackerel! I'm only here for Akiko, so bye!” Said the chibi, taking Akiko under his arm leaving for the school, without saying a word to him! How could he! Chuuya was his dog, and his sister was trying to steal it from him. He couldn't afford it!
And so, running after his sister and the love of his life- what? No!- began the second year of high school for Osamu Dazai.
