Work Text:
The day that I have been waiting for finally came.
A mixture of anxiousness and happiness filled my system. I fixed my dress momentarily.
As the door opened, I saw my family and our closest friends standing and waiting for me to walk down the aisle.
And when I looked in front of the altar, I saw the love of my life.
Dressed in a white pantsuit, loose strands of her short hair framed her face perfectly. She looked my way and gave me a warm smile.
The kind of smile that makes me feel safe. The smile where her eyes disappear. The smile that I want to see every morning as I wake up.
I smiled back as I slowly walked down the path, not taking my eyes off of her.
“Hey, beautiful.” Emi said as soon as I stood in front of her. She held out her hand and offered it to me.
“Sweet tongue you got there, Miss Thasorn.” I joked as I accepted her hand and faced the altar in front.
She laughed quietly and whispered. “You know it too well, Sweetheart.” she winked as she smiled.
“We are gathered here today to celebrate the union of Emi Thasorn and Bonnie Pattraphus, and bear witness to the miraculous power of love.” The officiant started.
The ceremony went on, and it was time for us to exchange rings.
“With this ring I, Emi Thasorn, take you, Bonnie Pattraphus, to be no other than yourself. Loving what I know of you, and trusting what I do not yet know, I will respect your integrity and have faith in your abiding love for me, through all our years, and in all that life may bring us.” Emi vowed as she put the ring on my finger. It was my turn now.
“With this ring I, Bonnie Pattraphus, take you, Emi Thasorn, to be no other than yourself. Loving what I know of you, and trusting what I do not yet know, I will respect your integrity and have faith in your abiding love for me, through all our years, and in all that life may bring us.” I stated as I placed the ring on her finger.
We now move on to the most anticipated part of the wedding. The part that I’m nervous about. It’s time to exchange our vows.
Emi opened the paper she got from her pocket and cleared her throat before talking to the microphone.
“Bonnie is the kindest and most beautiful person I know. The Ayla to my Tawan and the angel to my baby.” Emi joked that made me and everyone around us laugh.
She looked up at me before pocketing the paper with her vows in it.
“Can you still remember the first person who subscribed to your channel?” She asked.
I looked at her, trying to remember.
“I actually cannot remember, love.” I answered laughing a little.
“It’s okay, sweetheart… I will never forget the day that you told me you wanted to sing and start a channel to showcase your talent. You were so excited that you bought a camera and a mic with the last money from your former job. I have to admit, I was worried, but I decided to just trust and support you with whatever you want to do and achieve in life. So as a gift, I gave you Jose, your first guitar.” She laughed as she said my guitar’s name.
Emi continued.
“When you started uploading, your channel was not gaining any subscribers, so I did what I had to do, I made multiple accounts just to subscribe and support your channel. I remembered how you even cried a little when you discovered those ‘subscribers’ of yours.” She chuckled.
“I thought you would notice, but years passed, you still didn’t know. So allow me to introduce myself…
Hi beonnyy, I’m strawberry_lover and 10 more other accounts, your first subscriber(s).”
I couldn’t hold it anymore, tears fell uncontrollably. I didn’t know that it was her, she was never a fan of social media. I heard our friends and families' collective awe. Emi held my hand as she continued to look at me as she continued with her vow.
“One of the reasons why I get mad whenever I see a comment that says “First” under your videos. They were not the first ones. It was me!” Emi said as she pointed at herself. I laughed at her silliness. I can feel tears wanting to escape my eyes again.
“Thank you for being the brightness to my life.
Thank you for returning my happiness and liveliness to me. I am so grateful that I met you.
You’re the reason I wake up each morning, excited to explore the world with you.
Before you, I didn’t know what my purpose was…
Now I know.
I wake up because I want to see your sleeping face in the morning…
I wake up because I want to feel the warmth of your body next to mine.
And as I looked into your eyes, I found the reason.
It’s you.
What I lack, you’ve always filled in for me. Everything that has happened since we met has been so easy because it was you.
I promise to give you a farm of peaches and strawberries,
I promise to always wait for you at every backstage of your concerts,
I promise to walk with you so you’ll never feel alone anymore,
And I promise to always be there whenever you need me.
I will love you until I’m all out of breath. I can never imagine my life without you.
Stay with me forever. I love you, Bonnie.”
Emi wiped her tears as she ended her vow.
“I-” I tried to speak but my tears won’t stop from falling because of how emotional I was with Emi’s vow.
Emi went to our friends’ side to grab some tissue for the both of us. When she came back, she gently wiped my tears as she looked at me as if I’m the most fragile and precious jewelry she could ever find. Seconds later, our friend Love gave me the paper where my vows were written. I cleared my throat as Emi wiped the remaining tears from my face.
“Alright, uh.” I started, still overwhelmed by my emotions.
“Sweetheart, breathe.” Emi whispered as she gently rubbed both of my cheeks.
“Emi, you have seen me through it all. You’ve been my best friend, my haven, my partner, and savior for the past 9 years.
Words are not enough to express how grateful I am that I have you in my life. If you think about it, we’re quite the opposites, I like to yap, you like to listen. I like being in front of the camera, and you’re shy to be in it. Who would’ve thought, right?
You’ve always been there. You’ve always shown me how life is much more than it already is.
Some of you might not know this, but between the two of us, Emi is the clingy one, especially at times when I’m so tired from performing for people. She would wrap me in a tight hug after every event, telling me how great I did.
When I was still no one, she would always encourage me that I will be someone.
A year into our relationship, we decided to move in together. I remember, whenever I came home from work, Emi would always massage my feet because I was standing too long from my job. Even though she’s more tired than me, she still puts me first.
I am someone who easily gives up. One day, I quit my job. I told Emi that I wanted to sing. I thought she would be mad, because knowing her, she’s very rational and thinks before she does something. Imagine my relief when she said “It’s okay, love. Do whatever makes you happy.” I felt seen, I felt understood, I felt that I could do it all.
But reality struck. We had bills to pay, my videos weren’t helping pay those. Emi had to work 3 jobs all at the same time just to provide for us. But I never once heard her complain. In fact, she would even help me in filming whenever she had time. I worked hard because I didn’t want to burden Emi more, I wanted to give back to her. Because of her support, I am where I am right now.”
I looked at Emi as I continued my vows.
“I want to thank you for not giving up even if it was also hard for you. Thank you for fighting for the both of us.
Some would say that you’re a dream girl. I disagree.” Emi frowned. I smiled and continued.
“You’re not my dream girl, you are the maker of my dreams. Everything that I have dreamed of, you made it come true. You never got tired of supporting me with everything that I wanted to do.
Thank you for letting me feel like I can be myself… like Bonnie 100% when I’m with you.
I experienced most of my firsts with you. My first guitar, you gave Jose to me. My first event, you were also there, my first award, and my first concert. Everything.
And because of that, I also want all of my lasts to be you. You will be my last love, and I hope that I will be your last too. Let’s grow old together until we’re a hundred years old, until we’re wrinkly and gray, and until we’re both not in this world anymore. I love you, Emi.” Tears immediately ran down Emi’s face, I immediately wiped it as I felt my tears flow down from my eyes.
“You may seal your union with a kiss.” The officiant announced, smiling.
“Finally!” I heard Emi say as she pulled me by the waist and gently caressed my cheeks.
“May I?” She asked as she inches her face close to mine. I smiled and nodded.
I felt soft lips touched mine with so much tenderness and love. Our lips molded perfectly together.
I am now Mrs. Bonnie Pattraphus - Thasorn, Married to Mrs. Emi Thasorn - Pattrapus.
END.
