Jaehyun walked through the large crowd at the festival, looking for his friends. He walked past the food stands, game booths, and performers. He was tempted to walk up to the food stands, the smell of popcorn nearby.
Just as he was about to turn to the food stand,
He bumped into someone.
"Oof," Jaehyun said as he fell backwards. His butt hit the ground.
Jaehyun looked up, his eyes immediately landing on the tall handsome man in front of him.
"You okay?" The guy asked.
He stared at him for a few seconds before slowly nodding. "Mhm."
Jaehyun got up, dusting the dirt off his pants.
"Here I'll help" The guy said. His hands went down to Jaehyun's thigh, dusting off the remaining dirt. "There."
"Thanks." Jaehyun muttered under his breath.
After a few seconds of silence, Jaehyun finally spoke up. "Sooo... What's your name?" He asked as he tilted his head.
"Taesan." The guy said as he leaned against the fence.
"Taesan," Jaehyun repeated. "Cool name."
Taesan stared at Jaehyun expectantly.
"Oh, right, my name." Jaehyun said with a sheepish smile. "Jaehyun."
Taesan nodded. He looked up at Jaehyun's face, taking in Jaehyun's features. His features were so soft.
For a second, the two just stood there. Taesan stared at Jaehyun and Jaehyun looked down at the ground.
Until... Jaehyun broke the silence
"So what are you doing here?" He asked as he tilted his head to the side. The hunt for his friend suddenly forgotten.
"Nothing, just came to walk." Taesan answered, smiling slightly at Jaehyun.
"Cool. If you want, we can wa-" Jaehyun was quickly interrupted by his friend, Riwoo.
Riwoo tackled Jaehyun onto the ground, Jaehyun's face immediately lit up with joy.
"Riwoo! I missed you so much! I couldn't find you anyway." Jaehyun said as he looked up at Riwoo who was on top of him. He gently tucked a strand of hair behind Riwoo's ear.
"I was with Sungho, looking for you. But it seems like you were busy with someone else." Riwoo said as he raised his eyebrows teasingly, glancing over at Taesan.
Taesan stood there, staring at Jaehyun on the ground with Riwoo on top of him.
Jaehyun quickly shoved Riwoo off of him and stood up, dusting his pants once more.
"You good, Jae?" Taesan asked.
Jaehyun nodded quickly.
"Good." Taesan said, his voice now more stern now that Riwoo is here.
Sungho eventually came, he helped Riwoo up. The two immediately whispered to each other about how Jaehyun is so obviously in love with Taesan.
Taesan noticed Sungho and Riwoo staring at them so he grabbed Jaehyun's wrist. "Let's go, I'll buy you something."
Jaehyun's eyes immediately lit up. "Really?"
Taesan didn't respond, just kept walking, dragging Jaehyun with him.
The two walk around the festival, Taesan glanced at Jaehyun then at the popcorn stand from earlier. He quickly turned and walked towards the stand.
Jaehyun quickly followed, trying not to trip over as Taesan drags him.
"What do you want?" Taesan says as he slightly shoved Jaehyun forward.
"That one." Jaehyun pointed at the extra buttery one.
Taesan pulled out ₩5,000 and handed it to the lady at the stand.
She took the money and grabbed a popcorn bag, shoving some in the bag. She handed Jaehyun the bag and Taesan a ₩100 coin as change.
"Thank you." The lady said as she glanced at the two of them, noting how close the two are standing but didn't say anything.
Taesan nodded, taking the ₩100 and shoving it in his pocket. He grabbed Jaehyun's wrist and dragged him again, slowly this time, not wanting Jaehyun to drop the popcorn.
Eventually the two found a free bench. The two sat down, sharing the popcorn.
Taesan glanced over at Jaehyun who was looking around. The lamp posts bright light hitting Jaehyun's face perfectly. It outlined his perfectly curved nose. Taesan quickly shook his head and grabbed some popcorn, shoving it into his mouth.
Jaehyun looked at Taesan and burst into laughter. "Why'd you do that?"
"Got hungry." Taesan said, not giving Jaehyun much a reaction.
Jaehyun still smiled. "Okay then."
The silence stretched on for a second or two before Jaehyun broke it. "Taesan, I'm kind of thirsty."
"Get up, we'll go get a drink and maybe play some games."
Jaehyun smiled as he got up, Taesan following. Jaehyun and Taesan walked side by side. The line at the lemonade stand was pretty long, but they didn't mind the wait.
Soon the two reached the front of the line. Jaehyun ordered a strawberry lemonade and Taesan a regular lemonade.
"That'll be ₩3,000." The man said.
Taesan nodded as he pulled out three ₩1,000 bills, handing it to the man.
The guy took it and handed them their drinks.
The two walked up to the shooting the target game.
"₩5,000 for ten shots, ₩3,000 for 5." The guy up front explained.
Taesan handed ₩5,000 to the guy as he glanced over at Jaehyun. "Try not to miss all of them." He said with a smirk.
Jaehyun rolled his eyes and quickly shot the first target. Miss. He immediately burst into laughter, trying to shoot his second one. Miss. Again.
Taesan quickly grabbed the gun instead and shot. Instead, Taesan didn't miss it. Again, he didn't miss. And lastly, again, he didn't miss.
"You're surprisingly good at this?" Jaehyun said as he looked at Taesan suspiciously.
Taesan gave a smug smile. "I know."
The guy then spoke up. "Pick a prize, that one or that one?" He questioned as he pointed at the giraffe plushie or the bunny one.
Taesan looked over at Jaehyun. "Which one do you want?"
"The bunny one." Jaehyun said without hesitation.
The man nodded and handed it to them. Taesan quickly took it and shoved it into Jaehyun's arms.
"Thanks." Jaehyun said as he looked up at Taesan with a smile, he was practically jumping with joy.
The two continued walking for a bit before they settled under a tree. The night went on as they spoke.
Soon enough, the fireworks started. The two watched them for a few seconds. Taesan glanced over at Jaehyun, noticing how the fireworks light up Jaehyun's face.
"Okay, I'ma get going now." Taesan said as he tried to act composed again.
"Oh, okay! Bye!" Jaehyun said with even a wider smile.
Taesan walked home, it was quiet, cold. But he didn't care because internally, he was smiling so hard.
As soon as he got in, he dropped onto his bed, looking up at his ceiling. His thoughts replaying the moments he had with Jaehyun.
Eventually, he drifts off to sleep.
