Chapter Text

The room was cold as always. The light pastel walls have white bunny decals, a single heavy metal door, an uncomfortable metal chair that’s flipped upside down and leaning against the wall, and a single metal bed with a thin mattress.

4-year-old Esmerelda hid under the bed, her knees pulled up to her chest as she huffed her legs. She stiffened when the door opened with a swoosh of air and footsteps are heard.

“Come out of hiding, kid.” The mean man’s voice demanded in a sharp voice. “I know where you are, so unless you want the bed moved, again. Come out!”

The small girl picked up a pebble from the pile that she’d collected and through it at the mean man’s ankle.

“Ow!” The man jerked back. “You snot!” The man went to his knees to look under the bed, then reached for the girl. “Come here!” He snarls, grabbing her and yanking her out from her hiding spot.

The girl struggled hard against him. “No! Let go!” As she was hauled off the floor, she kicked him and pounded on him as he walked out of the room with her.

Congressman Gary paced as he's on his cellphone as he stood in the U.S, Capital. "I don't care! I want that cell measured into a small space. With a tiny window near the ceiling." As he talked he didn't see what everyone else was looking at. "Just." He trails off as he turns around, and does a double take.

A red head little girl stood in the entrance with big eyes, holding a raggy looking blanket as she looked lost.

"Get back to me once you get that cell." With that Congressman Gary hung up and stuffed his phone in his pocket. He moved over to the scared girl, she looked up at him with fright and backed away. "Hey, it's ok." He said gently. "I won't hurt you." He crouches down to be level with her. "Are you lost?" He asks friendly.

The child slowly nods. "I want my daddy and my mommy." She whispered brokenly.

"Well, we can defiantly give them a call." Gary said gently. "What are there names?" He asks.

"Daddy and mommy." Came the whispered answer.

Gary held in a sigh. "How old are you?" He asks.

The child thought about it, then held up her left hand to show four fingers.

Then a flyer fluttered over to them and landed gently on the floor, the child picked it up and beamed. "Daddy!" She turns the flyer around to show him.

Congressman Gary stared.

Oh boy.

At the WatchTower, Bucky Barnes groaned as he tried and failed to get the complicated expresso machine that Walker just had to have, work. "It's not working."

"What the hell you talking about, Barnes?" Walker asked as he approached. "Let me do it!" He pushes Bucky away. "I'll get it working."

Bucky rolled his eyes. "Oh, cause you're so smart." His cell phone rang and he fished it out and looked at the caller, he ignored Walker who was now going on and on about his coffee maker.

Answering the cell, Bucky moved away allowing Walker to talk to himself. "This is Barnes."

"Bucky." Congressman Gary is on the other end. "How fast can you get here? I need you in DC."

Bucky frowns. "Everything alright?"

"I'm not going into detail. Not over the phone, but I need you over here now. Oh, and bring Captain Wilson."

"I'll see what I can do with him." Bucky said watching Walker muttering to himself as he presses multiple buttons on the machine in front of him.

In DC, an in his office. Congressman Gary nods. "I wish I can give you details, but this. " He looks at the little girl in his office as she sits quietly in one of the chairs. "This has to face to face."

A loud explosion is heard in the background.

"What was that?"

John Walker stood in front of his expresso machine, face and chest covered in white foam.

"Oh, just the world making fun of John Walker again." Bucky answered with slight amusement. "I'll be there when I can."

Walker wiped the foam off his face.

Bob suddenly hurried in, but slid to a stop when he saw Walker. "Whoa."

"Yep." Bucky said in a not caring way. "He's a wild one." He walks out of the kitchen.

After a few minutes Yelena and Ava walked in to stand on either side of Bob.

"Not a word!" Walker warns the girls.

"You look like a rapid dog." Yelena said, ignoring the warning.

Bucky walked into his room, cellphone still in his hand as he pressed Sam's number. "Sam, you and I are needed in DC." He said once the phone is answered on the second ring.
