Work Text:
It was a bright and sunny day at Blue Dot, as usual. And Purple Star was currently out and about looking for something to entertain herself during her lunch break. All the other girls were either busy with their own stuff or just couldn't be found, and Purple was beginning to think she was going to have to spend today's lunch break without her friends until she noticed Leo sitting on a bench nearby.
"Hey, Leo!!" Purple called out to him, causing him to look up from his notebook. She ran over to him and sat down next to him, grinning, "What'cha doing? Homework? Writing a story? Something else??".
"Hey, Purple. And no, it's not that" he told her, returning his attention back to his notebook, "I'm making a list".
Purple raised a brow at him, "A list? For what??".
"It's White Day tomorrow and I'm trying to come up with ideas for what to give some of our classmates," Leo replied to her, writing down some more into his notebook, "I usually just give chocolates, but I know some girls don't like them...".
Purple's eyes widened in shock, "Wait- you guys celebrate White Gold Day too???".
"Wait, what??".
"White Gold Day!! It's when we celebrate White Gold's birthday!!" she grinned to him, "I didn't know humans celebrated it too!! But her birthday's actually in a few months...".
Leo shook his head. "Ah, no. It's not like that," he told her, "White Day's a human thing. It's where guys give gifts to girls to thank them for giving them gifts during Valentine's Day".
Purple blinked in confusion at him, tilting her head sideways, "Valen...tines.... Day?".
"Oh, it was back in February. It's when girls give gifts to guys. You probably never heard of it since you're new to the human world and stuff" Leo replied to her.
Her brows furrowed slightly as she pouted. "Aww, that sucks though!! I would've loved to give gifts to my friends!!" she said, "Even though I think you're my only guy friend at the moment".
"Well, I mean, you can still give gifts tomorrow. It just has to be girls you give gifts to, I guess" Leo shrugged to her.
At that, stars seemed to light up in her eyes, and she turned towards him excitedly, "Wait, really???".
"Yeah. Most of my classmates ignore the whole gender thing anyways. We just use it as an excuse to give gifts to people-".
He was suddenly cut off by Purple hugging him, the boy almost dropping his pen from shock. "Thank you so, so much for telling me, Leo!! I'm gonna make sure to get the best gifts for my friends!!" she grinned to him, before letting go and jumping from her seat, "Don't tell them though!! I want it to be a surprise!!".
"You know I'm good at keeping secrets, Purple" he replied as he watched her run off into the distance to god knows where. He guessed mermaids had different traditions to humans when it came to gifting, and even Purple's gifting habits seemed quite strange compared to the other princesses. So he could only imagine what sort of stuff she'd gift them.
Letting out a sigh, Leo picked up his pen again and stared at the page in his notebook, before closing it over, "It'd be easier if I just give everyone chocolates...".

"How many boys have given you chocolates already???" Red Ruby's guardian, Heartcon asked her as she watched her put another heart-shaped chocolate box in her bag.
"I don't know, at least fifteen?" Red replied to her, a smug smile on her face as she bit into one of the chocolate bars she had been gifted. She slung her bag over her shoulders as she let out a laugh, "This White Day thing really is amazing!! I didn't know so many boys liked me this much, but I mean, who wouldn't?".
She walked over to one of the bins in the hallway to bin the wrapper, totally aware of all the lovestruck and admiring eyes on her yet totally unaware of Purple sneaking up behind her before hugging her tight, "Red!! Hi hi!!!".
"Oh my gosh!!" Red Ruby yelped, before she quickly turned around and realised who had hugged her. She raised a brow at her, "Purple?? Seriously?? You scared me there!!".
"Umm, whoops? My bad?". Purple gave her an apologetic grin before letting go of her. A couple of their classmates that were nearby looked at them curiously, before going back to what they were doing before.
Red let out a sigh of frustration, pinching the bridge of her nose, "And did you seriously have to do that in front of so many people?? It's really embarassing, you know?".
"I'm sorry, Red. I just wanted to surprise you!!" Purple grinned to her, before she finally remembered what she had come here for, "Wait, let me get my gift for you!!".
Purple got her bag off of her back before she began to rummage around in it. Red watched her with confusion as she watched Purple pull out a rubber duck, three different textbooks, and a whole silver plate from her bag. "You seriously need to organise yourself more, Purple," she told her, "How is your kingdom going to expect you to be queen if you can't even keep your bag tidy?".
"I've just got a lot of stuff here because I have a lot of gifts!!" Purple replied to her, pulling out a teddy bear from the bag before she finally found what she was looking for, "Oh! Found it!!".
She finally pulled out a shiny white belt, studded with pink and red gemstones that twinkled in the hallway's lights. Red's eyes widened in shock as she looked at it, "Is that... for me?".
"Yep!! Dad got it for me a while back, but I thought it would fit you much better!!" Purple grinned to her, before handing the belt over to her, "Here, try it on!!".
Red stared at the belt for a moment, her cheeks flushing slightly before she took it from Purple's expectant hands and put it on. She snapped the buckle on, and a smile slowly formed on her face as she looked down at herself. "I look... gorgeous!!" she gasped, twirling around as she looked at herself. She striked a pose before looking back at her friend, "How do I look, Purple?".
"You look beautiful! I knew it'd fit you!!" Purple smiled, giving her a thumbs up.
Red's eyes widened at that, her cheeks turning more red before she cleared her throat. "I-I mean, of course I'd look beautiful! I'd look beautiful in anything!" she replied, turning away from her to hide her blush, "But, umm... Thank you anyways, Purple".
"Aww, no problem, Red!! Anything to make my friends feel happy!!" Purple grinned to her, a light blush on her own face as she smiled.
Red looked back at her, arms still crossed before she let out a sigh and turned back towards her, "Since you were so nice to get me something, I guess I should give you something back in return, huh?".
It was now Purple's turn to be surprised, "Wait- You got me something too!?".
"D-Don't think you're special just because I got you something! You just happened to be the only person I found something for!" Red replied, before she pulled something from out of her pocket, "Here".
She opened her fist and dropped it into Purple's hand, revealing a silver heart-shaped locket. "I remember when you said you wanted to have a pretty necklace like mine, so I took the liberty to get one for you," she told her.
Purple turned the locket in her hand, admiring the way the silver shone before it suddenly popped open, revealing two individual pictures placed inside. One of Purple, and the other of Red. "Woahh, it's even got our faces inside it too!!" she gasped.
Red let out a proud huff, smiling smugly as she flipped her hair, "Yeah, I know. I'm pretty amazing, aren't I-".
She was suddenly interrupted once again by Purple pulling her into a tight hug, and Red's face flushed pink once more, "Agh-! Purple!!!".
"Thank you so, so, so much for the present, Red!!" Purple grinned to her, cheeks flushed slightly from all the smiling. She finally pulled away, giving Red time to regulate her erratic heartbeat as Purple put the necklace on, "Red!! Look!! Look!! Do I look pretty too??".
Red finally came back to her senses to see Purple had managed to clip the necklace on, grinning at her. Red's own face felt warm as she let out a sigh of amusement and smiled back to her, "You look beautiful, Purple".
"Yayy!!! I'm beautiful just like you now!!!" Purple beamed, looking down at her necklace to continuously flip it over in her hands, not noticing when Red had taken a step towards her, "When I get home today, I'm gonna show it off to my dad and the servants and-".
She suddenly paused when she felt Red press her lips against her cheek, the world around her seeming to stop for a moment. Red pulled away, eyes filled with the sort of adoration and love Purple's never seen directed at her, before Red suddenly realised what she had done.
"I- You- We will not speak of this ever again!!" Red stammered, face blushing a mad red before she suddenly ran off, clutching her bag tight and disappearing down the hallway. Purple simply watched as she disappeared, her hand lightly brushing her cheek where she was kissed.
She felt some sort of mixture on her fingers, and looked to see that some of Red's chapstick had been left on her face and transferred onto her hand. It was a pretty shade of pink, a shade that perfectly complimented Red. Purple raised her finger to her nose to sniff it.
"Mm, strawberries..." she mumbled to herself, a small smile and a blush on her face, "Smells exactly like Red".

The library was rather quiet today, both due to the general rule of students having to stay quiet and because most students were out giving eachother presents. Green Leaf liked the silence, it meant that there was less distractions to her reading and learning, and it meant peace.
The library was so quiet in face that she didn't notice when someone had begun to sneak up behind her. It took Purple leaning over her shoulder and whispering "What are you reading?" for her to notice she was even there.
"Gahh-!!" Green yelped, almost falling out of her chair from shock. She heard a couple of shushes from other students in the library, and mentally scolded herself before turning her attention back towards Purple, who was standing there with a grin on her face, "Purple, I told you to be quiet when you're in here".
"But I was quiet! It was you-", Purple punctuated that sentence with a finger pointed towards Green, "That yelled, silly!".
Green's eyes widened in surprise, cheeks flushing slightly in embarassment before she turned back towards her book, "Well? What do you need me for? You only come to the library whenever you know I'm here".
"Oh! Oh, right! I got you something for today!! Just wait!!". Purple took her bag off of her back and placed it onto the desk and began to rummage around in it, much to the surprise of Green.
Green watched her in silence as she pulled a plethora of stuff out of her bag, adjusting her glasses, "You do know White Day is traditionally supposed to be guys gifting to girls who've previously gifted to them on Valentine's Day, right?".
"I know, but Leo said it was okay for me to give gifts as long as I'm gifting it to a girl!!" Purple explained to her, pulling out a whole toy firetruck from the bag.
Green watched as Purple set it aside next to all her other random junk, and let out a deep sigh. "I don't even know why humans bother with these holiday traditions if they're gonna end up breaking their own rules anyways," she said, picking her book back up again, "Why even bother placing gender roles and heteronormative expectations if you're just gonna tell someone that...".
Her attention was suddenly drawn away by Purple offering her something, and she turned to see what looked like a hand-painted bookmark in her hand, the top decorated to look like a green winking jellyfish, "Is this... for me...?".
"Yep! Since you like books so much, I thought it'd be nice to make you a bookmark so you'll always know where you last left off!!" Purple grinned to her, "See? Watch this!!".
She set Green's book flat on the desk before slotting the bookmark onto the page, the green jellyfish peeking out from the top, "I even made it look like it's using the page as a blanket, see??".
Green looked at the page with wide eyes, her cheeks beginning to redden as she let out an amused sigh. "It's... very adorable, Purple. And I appreciate you making sure it matched me," she told her. Maybe she wouldn't tell Purple that she could just simply memorise which page she had last left off, it was the thought that counted after all.
Purple beamed brightly at her, before suddenly scooping Green up into yet another hug, "Yayy!!! I'm so glad you liked it, Green!!!".
"Ah- Purple! Quiet in the library, remember??" Green hissed to her, doing her best to ignore how warm her face felt in the moment.
"Huh? Oh, right, I forgot, whoops!". Purple soon let Green down and back on her feet, somehow not needing to be shushed by the other people in the library. "Well, I'll be going now! I need to find and give my gifts to the other girls too!" she smiled at her, putting all her stuff back into her bag, "I'll see you later, okay??".
Purple was about to turn and leave her, until Green let out a sigh and spoke up again, "Wait, Purple. Stay here for a second".
"Hmm, what is it?" she asked her curiously, letting go of her bag momentarily as she watched Green rummage around in her own bag, "Wait, did you give me a gift too?? But I thought you knew only boys could gift girls stuff today!!".
"It's not a White Day gift, it's just me giving you a gift. It's simply just a coincidence I'm giving it to you on White Day," Green replied, though the slightl smile on her face indicated she knew of today's rules and simply didn't care, "Here. This is for you".
She finally pulled out a book from her bag and handed it over to Purple. Unlike the books Green usually read which either had blank or boring cover designs, the book she was handing to Purple had a bright cover with a yellow duck on it.
"Wh-What is this???" Purple gasped, taking the book and flipping through it's pages curiously, "Oh- and it has pictures too?!?".
"Yep. You seem to really like those rubber ducks, so I thought you might like a book about them," Green smiled to her, "Even if you're not into the educational side of it, I made sure to pick out one with pictures so you'd at least like that".
Purple's eyes widened as she looked back at Green, "You... thought about all that? For me??".
"I mean, it is a gift for you. Why wouldn't I-".
She was suddenly interrupted yet again by a hug from Purple. Not one as tight as the previous one, Purple wasn't even yelling this time. "Thank you Green" Purple whispered to her with a grin, and Green seemed to pause as Purple pulled away from her, a blush on her face.
"You... You didn't yell or shout that time?".
"Well, duh! We're in a library! We have to be quiet!" Purple grinned to her, still hushed but her voice still had that same energy she always had, "Anyways, can I read my book now??".
It took Green a moment to process her words, but when she did she simply gave her an amused smile and nodded, quickly adjusting her glasses, "I mean, we have time before class starts. I don't see why not".
"Yay!!" Purple smiled. She laid the book out on the table, flipping through some of the pages as she excitedly read out some of the fun facts and pointed out some of the funny pictures. Green simply watched over her shoulder in silence, the smile still present on her face as she watched her friend ramble on about ducks.
"Oh! Oh! Look at that picture, Green!! It's a baby duck on their mama's back!!" Purple beamed, pointing towards one of the pictures in the book, "Aren’t they adora-".
She was suddenly cut off when she felt Green lean in and kiss her on the cheek, the skin where she had kissed her already beginning to heat up. Purple looked towards Green with wide eyes, but she had already began to put her bag on, "Come on, Purple. Class starts soon".
"E-Eh?! Wait for me, Green!!" Purple yelped, quickly shoving her newly acquired duck book into her bag before following Green outside of the library. Even with all the hustle and bustle of the other students around them, Purple's mind was still stuck on when Green had kissed her, "Green!! W-Wait!!".
"Hm?". Green paused to look back at her friend, a confused look on her face as if she hadn't just kissed Purple moments before, "Is something wrong, Purple?".
They locked eyes for a moment, violet eyes meeting hazel. Purple took a breath in, her face still a bit flushed before she smiled at Green, "Do you wanna walk to our classes together? I know we're in separate rooms, but they're right next to eachother, y'know?".
Green's eyes widened a bit, but she simply smiled before holding out her hand towards Purple. Although a bit surprised, Purple gratefully took it, letting out a small giggle as Green let out a sigh, "Come on now, let's go".
And as they walked back to their classrooms, Purple couldn't help but notice that Green was still holding her own book under her arm. And that the little jellyfish bookmark that she had made stuck out in between the pages.

"Eight, nine, ten. Good, they're all still here," Orange Amber muttered underneath her breath before she closed the lid of her picnic basket. The place was always bustling during lunch, even more so today now that people were gifting eachother chocolates and gifts and whatnot. And even though Orange was more the type to give presents rather than receive them, she couldn't help but wish someone had gifted chocolates to her too.
"It's fine though, at least I'll be prepared for the next time this happens," she sighed before picking her basket up again and scanning the school yard, "Now, where could Purple be right now-".
"Surprise!!!" Purple suddenly yelled as she appeared from behind Orange. She jumped and screamed, sending her basket flying up into the air.
"Wait- my treats!!!" Orange gasped, too scared to move to catch them. Fortunately for her though, Purple moved in almost instantly, jumping to catch the basket before it hit the ground.
She fell onto the grass, none of the desserts inside having fallen out, and Purple sat back up and grinned to Orange. "Sorry for scaring you!! But look!! I managed to catch them!!" she yelled to her, lifting the basket up above her head.
"Oh- thank you, Purple!! But your clothes are all dirty and have grass on them!!". Orange ran over to Purple, pulling a cute embroidered handkerchief from her pocket before dabbing it at Purple's face, "I'm so, so sorry, it's my fault you got dirty!!".
"What?? It's okay, Orange!! I need to change anyways for gym later," Purple giggled. She stood back up and brushed off any dirt from off her shorts, before handing the picnic basket back to Orange, "And hey!! Your muffins didn't get damaged this time!!".
Orange gingerly took the basket back from her, quickly flipping the lid open and counting the treats inside before she let out a sigh of relief, "Yeah, at least they're okay. I don't know what I would've done if they fell out.....".
Purple let out a small laugh, until she suddenly remembered what she had come to Orange for. "Speaking of treats, I actually have something for you!!" she told her, before she took her bag off and began to rummage around in it.
Orange watched her with wide eyes, a little bit surprised, "Wait, d-did you get me something for...?".
"Yep!! I just- have to find where I put it first!!" Purple replied, sticking out her tongue as she continued to pull and push away items from her bag, before she finally pulled out a plastic ziplock bag, "Aha!! Here it is!!!".
Orange looked at the plastic bag curiously as Purple placed it into her palm. She opened the bag to reveal what looked like silver cookie cutters inside, each in different shapes. "Wait, are these cookie cutters???" Orange gasped, pulling a cookie cutter in the shape of a flower from out of the bag, "Purple, they're so cute!!!".
"Yep!! I noticed you only ever made circle-shaped cookies, and thought you might've liked to branch out and try something new!!" Purple grinned to her, "Plus, the flower-shaped one kinda reminded me of you!!".
Orange's eyes seemed to widen and twinkle as she looked at the cookie cutters, a light blush on her face as she giggled. "I-I'll definitely make sure to use these the next time I make cookies!!" she smiled, putting the bag into her pocket, "Thank you so much, Purple!! Oh, I'm gonna be so much fun with these!!".
"Aww, no problem!! Anything for a friend of mine!!" Purple grinned to her as she put her bag back on, "Anyways, I'll see you later, Orange!! I gotta go find the others now!!"
Orange's eyes widened in surprise at that, a sliver of disappointment visible on her face,"You're leaving already? B-But I haven't given you your gift yet!!".
Purple paused for a second there, stopping in her tracks before looking back at her, "Wait, you have a gift for me too??".
Orange's face flushed red, stammering a little before she handed the picnic basket she was holding back to Purple, looking away bashfully. "I...I made these. For you, actually," she admitted, her voice a little hushed.
Purple blinked in surprise before she took the picnic basket from her hands. Orange watched nervously as Purple opened the lid and peeked inside, "Woah, are these cupcakes???".
She pulled out one of the cupcakes from the basket. The dough was made from a chocolate batter, and it had purple and pink icing swirled on top, decorated with cute little golden beads. Orange fidgeted with the strap of her bag, "I-It's a new recipe of mine, so I hope it doesn't taste ba- Purple??".
Purple had already begun eating the cupcake before Orange even finished her sentence, a couple crumbs and traces of frosting left on her face. "Mhh!! These taste amazing, Orange!!" she grinned to her before taking another bite of it, "And I love the sprinkles!! I like the cunchy sound they make when I bite them!!".
"D-Don't eat them too fast!! You might get hiccups if you do that!!" Orange stammered, though there was a hint of a smile on her face as she soon let out a laugh, "But I am glad you like them, Purple".
She bashfully looked at her friend's face as she ate, noticing some frosting on her face. She looked down at the handkerchief in her hands, which already had soil and grass stains on it from when Purple had fallen on the ground. She considered her options for a moment, and Orange took a shaky breath in before leaning in to kiss her on the cheek.
Purple froze then, her cheeks becoming pink then as Orange pulled away. An awkward silence hung in the air for a few moments. And the realisation seemed to have settled in then, as Orange began to panic and stammer. "I-I'm so sorry!!," she began to ramble, her hands flying up to cover her face, "Th-There was frosting on your face but I couldn't use my handkerchief because it was already dirty, a-and I didn't want to waste any frosting so I just-".
Her nervous ramblings were interrupted by Purple letting out a laugh, and Orange slowly lowered her hands from her face. "It's okay, Orange!! I don't mind," she grinned to her, her smile as bright as ever. She picked out one of the cupcakes from the basket before offering it to Orange, "Do you want some? It might help you feel less worried!".
"H-Huh? Are you sure??" Orange replied, brows knit together in confusion, "They're your cupcakes! W-Wouldn't it be weird for me to...".
"Not if I want to share them with you!" Purple told her. She took a step towards her before placing the cupcake in her hand, "After all, all sweet treats are best shared, right?".
Orange looked between the cupcake in her hand and Purple, a red blush beginning to settle on her face, before she let out a nervous laugh and smiled back at her, "Yeah, you're right!".
And soon, the two girls found a nice bench to sit on to enjoy their sweet treats, sharing laughs and giggles amongst themselves.
===== 🩵🥊 =====
When Purple had stepped into the gym, she expected to be greeted by a loud greeting or perhaps a hug that was way too tight even to her standards. But the gym was oddly quiet today, way too quiet for comfort. "Hellooo??? Is anybody there???" she called out as the doors closed behind her. But nobody besides her own echo responded to her.
"Huh, that's weird. I thought I told her to meet me here," Purple said to herself, walking further in before she was suddenly tackled from behind and to the ground.
"Haha!! Surprise, Purple!!" Blue Sapphire grinned to her, having pinned her to the ground, "You have to be more aware of your surroundings next time!! What if a Blob came up behind and attacked you??".
"Hey, Blue!!!" Purple laughed, way too distracted by her friend's presence to remember she technically brought her to the ground. Blue got off of Purple, and the violet-haired mermaid brushed off any dust or dirt off of her clothes, "Where were you?? I thought you were late!!".
"Nah, I was hiding behind the stage curtains over there. I wanted to catch you off guard," Blue told her, pointing a thumb towards the direction of the stage.
Purple nodded to her, and was about to take her bag off so she could get out her gift, before Blue stopped her. "Stop right there!!" Blue yelled at her, stopping Purple in her tracks.
Purple watched Blue in confusion as she opened the bag across her chest, rummaging around in it before she pulled out something from her bag. "For you, Purple" Blue told her, "Us mermaids from the Jellyfish Kingdom like to give people trinkets as recognition for their skills and talent!".
Purple took a step towards her, and Blue opened her hand to reveal what was in her hand. A cute pink hair tie, with a couple purple and pink star beads on it. "Oh, this is so cute!!!" Purple gasped as she took it, turning it over in her hands in fascination, "Is this your White Day gift for me??".
"W-Well, it doesn't need to be a White Day gift exactly. I was going to give it to you regardless of if it was White Day or not..." Blue stammered, suddenly becoming uncharacteristically shy, "But I thought since we're gym buddies now, it'd be easier for you to tie up your hair when we excercise!".
Purple looked down at the hair tie in her hand before she excitedly went to put it on, sticking out her tongue in concentration as she did so. She soon managed to put her hair into a nice manageable ponytail, the star beads in the hair tie glimmering as she moved.
"Oh wow!! I've haven't worn a ponytail in such a long time!!" she grinned to herself, spinning around and admiring how her hair flowed as she moved. Blue watched her in silence, a light blush on her face and seemingly enchanted by Purple's little dance and her new appearance.
She was brought out of her momentary lovestruck stupor by a small gasp from Purple. "Oh yeah! I almost forgot!! I got you a White Day too!!" she said, before taking off her bag and rummaging around in it. Blue watched her curiously, until Purple pulled out what looked like a boombox from her bag.
"A... boombox? Is that your gift for me?" Blue chuckled, raising a brow at her curiously.
"Not just the boombox!!" Purple excitedly told her. She opened the lid of the boombox before slotting a DVD inside. Energetic pop music soon began to play out of it, and Purple stood back up before pointing straight at Blue, "Blue Sapphire!! I challenge you to a dance battle!!".
Blue's eyes widened in shock for a moment, before she let out a laugh, "Your gift to me is a dancing duel? Really?".
"I thought it would be fun since our first meeting we had a dance battle!!" Purple grinned to her, "Besides, it's not really a battle, more like a duet!!".
"A duet, huh?" Blue said, thinking about it for a moment, blushing before nodding, "I like the sound of that! Challenge accepted, Purple!! But this time, I'll definitely win for sure!!".
And soon enough, the pair had started to dance, each in their own unique styles but enjoying eachother's company nontheless. The music played loudly as Blue and Purple jumped and spun around the empty sports hall, the music masking the squeaks of sneakers against the ground.
"Hey, Blue!!" Purple had called out to her, and before Blue knew it, Purple had suddenly grabbed a hold of their hands as the two started spinning and dancing together. Blue hoped the speed they were spinning at would mask the blush on her face, but as they kept on dancing and Purple kept on giggling, Blue began to relax and laughed along with her.
They were so distracted by eachother that they barely noticed when Purple's loosely tied shoelaces had fallen apart completely, and as Purple slipped on them and yelped, she pulled Blue to the ground with her, the both of them falling down with a hard thud.
The hall was silent for a while, before it was suddenly filled with the girls' shared laughter. Blue pushed herself off of Purple, wiping away tears from her face. "Oh my gosh, that was hilarious!!" she laughed, a huge grin on her face, "Are you okay though, Purple?".
"Yep! Although my head's kinda dizzy!" Purple smiled to her, clutching the back of her head, "Oof. Pink Star's gonna hate me if he finds out I still can't tie my own shoelaces...".
Blue let out a laugh, before her eyes softened at her, "Here, let me try something".
She leaned in closer to Purple and pressed a kiss to her forehead, surprising Purple for a second. Blue soon pulled away from her, giving her a sheepish grin, "My dad always said a kiss helped make things feel better, so I-I thought it might work for you!".
Purple raised a hand to where Blue had kissed her, noticing just how warm her face was feeling, before she smiled back at her. "I think it did help!" she replied to her, before getting back up on her feet, "Come on, Blue!! Let's dance!!".
Blue let out a scoff, "Really? You still wanna dance after you tripped and fell??".
"We still have time before class starts again!!" Purple told her, offering a hand out to her, "Besides, it's my gift from me to you!!".
Blue looked up at the hand Purple was offering to her, before letting out a chuckle and grabbing it. "Sure, I can go with another round," she said, pulling her up before wrapping an arm around Purple's shoulders, "After all, I still need to win against you!!".
"Ehehe, I knew you'd agree!!" Purple grinned back at her. And so the two continued their dance duet, spinning and jumping around the room together and giggling all the while. At least until the bell rang and they had to quickly run back to their classes.

It was the end of the school day now, and all of the children excitedly rushed out of their classrooms to either go home or hang out with their friends. The hustle and bustle of the students outside couldn't be heard by Yellow Gold though, as she had her headphones on while she continued to paint.
Purple knew almost immediately where to look for her, slowly opening the door to the art room in case she was busy. Yellow was sat at an easel in the middle of the room, paintbrush in hand as she quietly hummed to herself. She seemed entirely focused on whatever she was working on, not looking away from it even once.
Purple closed the door behind her and walked up to Yellow before tapping her on the shoulder. The blonde girl stopped then, lowering her paintbrush and taking off her headphones before looking up at her, "Purple...?".
"Hey, Yellow!" Purple greeted her with her usual grin, "Are you busy right now?".
Yellow looked between Purple and her canvas, beautiful but still with blank spaces on it. She shook her head, "I'm not. But... why do you ask?".
"Well, I got you a gift today!!" Purple told her, before shuffling her bag off of her shoulders and rummaging around in it, "Just give me a second! It should be around here somewhere!".
Yellow watched her in silent surprised as Purple pulled out miscellaneous item after item out of her bag, her fingers tapping nervously on her knees. "You... You got me a gift?" she murmured out, surprised, "But why?".
"Well, duh! You're my friend! So why not??" Purple told her, pulling out and setting a frying pan aside, before she finally found what she was looking for, "Here!!".
She stood back up and took a step towards Yellow, before handing her what looked like a spiralbound notebook. "I thought that since the canvases are really heavy and you can't always carry them around, it'd be nice to give you a sketchbook so you can always draw on the go!" she grinned to her.
Yellow's eyes widened in shock as she gently took it from her and opened it to look at the paper inside. She ran her fingers over it. Smooth, nice texture, lineless. Perfect for drawing or sketching. "So," Purple said, bringing Yellow's attention back to her and her wide smile, "Do you like it?".
Yellow softly smiled back at her, before getting up from her stool and wrapping a hug around Purple. "More than like it, I love it, Purple," she replied.
Purple was a bit caught off guard by the sudden hug, usually she was the one who initiated hugs or held hands first, but she soon hugged Yellow back, burying her face into her shoulder, "I'm so glad you like it, Yellow!".
Yellow soon pulled away from her, a light blush on her face. "Actually, I have something for you too..." she told her, shyly glancing down at the ground as she said that, "Would you... like to see it?".
At that, Purple's eyes lit up, and she excitedly began jumping up and down, "Wait, wait, really?? I'd love to see it!! Is it here right now???".
Yellow let out a soft laugh, finding delight in Purple's whimsy antics. "Of course. Just follow me," she told her, gesturing for Purple to come along.
She walked over to a corner of the art room, and Purple excitedly followed behind as the two approached what looked to be a canvas with fabric draped over it. "I hope you like it, I worked really hard on it," Yellow told her.
She took a hold of the fabric and pulled it off, revealing a beautifully made painting of Purple. "Woah!! Is that me???" she gasped, holding it up to see it better, "I look so pretty!! Oh, and is that Pink Star next to me???".
A small giggle escaped Yellow as she nodded, "I didn't really know what else to get you, so I decided to make you something myself," she replied, fidgeting with her sleeve, "I-I hope you like it...".
"Are you kidding?? I love it!! You made me look so pretty here!!" Purple turned to look at her, her smile bright and her eyes twinkling with excitement, "Thank you so, so much!! I'm definitely going to ask my dad and the servants to help me put it on my bedroom wall!! But would it look better above my bed or right across the room so I can see it before I go to sleep.....".
And as Purple rambled on and on about how where in her room it'd be best to put it, Yellow's eyes softened as she stared at her. She took a small breath in, before silently stepping closer to her and kissing her cheek, bringing Purple out of her ramble.
She looked back at Yellow, stun-locked and shocked, a light pink blush on her face as Yellow simply giggled. "I'm... really glad you liked it," she told her, letting out a small laugh, "Do you mind helping me clean up the art room before we go?".
"U-Umm- of course!!" Purple stammered, eyes still wide in shock but excitedly nodding her head nontheless. A chuckle escaped Yellow, as she and Purple went to work re-organising all the easels and paint buckets and putting them back where they belonged.

The sun was beginning to set now, the sky now shades of orange and pink. Indigo Keen sat on one of the benches outside of the school, retuning the strings of her guitar and strumming them, humming out a small melody. She was so caught up in her world in fact, that she barely noticed when Purple had snuck up behind her and placed her hands over her eyes.
"Peekaboo!!" Purple grinned to her, catching Indigo off guard, "Surprised you, didn't I?".
She soon pulled her hands away from her face, and Indigo turned to look up at her. "Oh, Purple! You actually came!" she gasped, as Purple jumped over and sat on the bench next to her.
"Of course I did!! You invited me to come here, after all!!" Purple told her, a bright smile on her face, "Besides, it's the perfect opportunity for me to give you this!!".
Indigo watched with wide eyes as Purple began to rummage around in one of her bag's side pockets. "You... You got me something...?" she asked, a little surprised.
"Yep!! Just... wait a minute....." Purple replied, sticking out her tongue as she pulled out object after object from the bag, "I could've sworn I put it somewhere here!!".
Indigo looked at her, then looked down at Purple's pocket. What looked like string for a necklace stuck out of her pocket, and Indigo couldn't help but let out a small laugh, "Have you tried checking your pockets yet?'
"Why would I be keeping it in my pockets?? I put everything else in my bag!!" Purple asked her, before putting her hands in her pocket and a look of surprise crossed her face, "Oh, wait a minute!!".
Indigo let out a chuckle as she watched her pull the mystery object out of her pocket, the girl balling her fist so her friend couldn't see it. "How did you not realise it was in your pocket earlier?" Indigo asked her with a smile.
"I-I don't know!! It's small!" Purple told her, quickly turning away from Indigo and looking over the object, "Okay, it's not broken. Can you close your eyes for me? I want this to be a surprise!!".
"Hm? Is it really a surprise though if I already know you're giving me something?" Indigo asked, raising a brow.
"Come on, Indigo! Pleeeaaassseee???" Purple asked her, putting on her best puppy eyes for her.
And even though Indigo probably would've given in either way, she still let out a small laugh, "Alright, alright. You know you don't need to do that though, I would've done it even if you hadn't".
"I know, but I just thought it'd be fun!!" Purple giggled.
Indigo closed over her eyes, and she could hear Purple getting off of the bench and standing in front of her. She felt her put something over her head, and could feel the string of the necklace on the back of her neck, "Okay, Indigo!! You can open your eyes now!!".
She opened her eyes to see Purple in front of her, excitedly smiling and anticipating her reaction. She looked down to see what looked like a guitar pick necklace on her, the little pick even decorated with a silver moon.
"Surprise!! I saw it in a thrift shop and instantly thought of you!!" Purple told her, bouncing excitedly in her spot, "You could use it for playing your guitar and it's a cute necklace too!! Pretty nifty, right?".
Indigo looked down at the necklace in awe, marvelling in the way the silver paint on it caught the light. "It's... beautiful, Purple," she said, a faint blush on her face as she smiled up at her, "Thank you so much. I'll make sure to use it a lot".
"No problem! Anything for a friend of mine!!" Purple grinned brightly to her, "Well, I gotta get home before Dad gets worried!! Seeya!!".
She turned and was about to walk away from her when Indigo suddenly spoke up, "Purple, wait!".
Purple turned around towards her, a curious look on her face. Indigo looked off to the side, a bit bashfully before she spoke up again, "Don't you... wanna stay to see me test out your gift?".
At that, Purple's eyes immediately lit up. "Wait- are you gonna play a song for me???" she excitedly grinned, sitting back down on the bench next to her, "I'd love to hear!! Please?? Please???".
Indigo let out a soft laugh. "Don't worry, I will. I just need to make sure my guitar sounds right first," she told her.
She propped her guitar back on her lap, taking her new necklace off temporarily to strum the strings and retune them. Indigo quickly glanced to see Purple's reaction. She was staring at her in awe, stars alit in her eyes before she realised Indigo was staring at her, "I'll wait till you're ready, 'kay?".
Indigo softly nodded to her, and with a deep breath, began to play. The song was calm and sweet, Indigo strumming the strings gently. Purple watched her in amazement, a light blush on her face as she swayed to the beat, until Indigo started singing.
Purple was honestly surprised, she had never heard Indigo sing before. She had assumed she wasn't much of a singer anyways as she never sang to any of the songs she had played before. But now, Indigo was singing what sounded like a love song, something that she had never expected out of someone like her.
And if she had to be super honest, Indigo sounded amazing when she sang. She wished she had heard her singing voice sooner.
Indigo soon stopped, playing the last chord of her song before letting out a deep breath. There was a faint blush on her face that was half-hidden with the way her bangs fell over her face. All was silent for a while, until Purple broke the silence by clapping loudly.
"That was amazing, Indigo!!!" Purple grinned to her, bringing Indigo's attention towards her, "I've never heard you sing before!! You sounded beautiful!!".
Indigo's eyes widened momentarily at that, her face blushing as she shyly looked away, "You... really think so?".
"Yeah!! You should definitely sing more often, Indigo!!" Purple smiled to her, pulling her knees up to her chest, "Actually, I don't think I've ever heard of that song before! What's the name of it?".
"Oh- I, umm....." Indigo began, her voice soon trailing off as she nervously scratched the back of her neck, "I hadn't thought of a name for it when I was writing it.....".
Purple's eyes widened then in shock. "Wait- you wrote it??? You wrote the entire song?!??!" she gasped, "I didn’t know you could write your own songs!! That's so cool!!".
"I-It's not much, really. I didn't know what else to give you for White Day so I quickly wrote a song for you..." Indigo replied, still not meeting her gaze, "It's the first song I've written on my own, so it probably sounds dumb and...".
She was suddenly cut off by Purple leaning against her shoulder, looping her own arm around hers. "I don't think it's dumb, I think it's really nice you wrote me something," Purple smiled to her, letting her head rest on Indigo's shoulder.
Indigo was caught off guard for a moment, but she soon smiled at her, her eyes softening. She was just about to lean in and kiss her on the forehead - until Purple decided then was the perfect moment to get up, and the two accidentally ended up hitting eachother.
"Ack-!" Indigo yelped, holding onto her face where Purple's head had accidentally hit her.
"Oh my gosh!! I'm so, so sorry!!!" Purple apologised profusely to her, "I-I didn't realise you were trying to-".
"I-It's alright. Let's just... forget that ever happened..." Indigo told her, turning away from her in embarassment.
An awkward silence hung in between them now, Indigo refusing to look back at Purple, at least until she felt a small tap on her shoulder. She turned her head around to look at Purple, who seemed to be leaning closer and offering her cheek to her to kiss, "Purple, what are you doing?".
"I'm letting you kiss me!! Duh!!" Purple said with a pout, "Come on, I'm giving you a second chance!! Pretty please??".
Indigo's eyes widened slightly, and a light blush dusted her cheeks before she let out a sigh, "Fine, if that's what you want".
She shuffled closer to Purple on the bench, before leaning in and leaving a soft kiss on her cheek. The two shared a look, both with blushes across their faces before they let out laughs and giggles.
"We should probably be heading back home now," Indigo said, beginning to put her guitar back in it's case, "I know how your dad gets when you come home too late, he'll probably be a bit worried".
"Oh- right!!" Purple gasped, before jumping out of her seat, "I can't want to show him all the stuff I got today!! I bet he's gonna be so amazed when I tell him you wrote a song for me!!".
Indigo let out a chuckle. "I'm sure he will," she said as she got up from the bench. Almost like clockwork, their hands met and intertwined, the two simply chatting and talking about their day as they walked home.
===== 🌈🫧 =====
It was a bright and sunny day at Blue Dot, as usual. And all the students were buzzing with excitement and conversation, chatting about yesterday's events and the gifts they had gotten. Leo was walking to his locker, a bit tired from having to run around and give gifts to all his friends yesterday and looking forward to another normal day.
Unfortunately for him, he wasn’t anticipating Purple sneaking up behind him and surprising him with a huge hug, "Thank you so, so much Leo!!!".
"Wha- Purple?!" Leo yelped, trying his best to squirm out of her grasp, "And what are you thanking me for? I didn't even give you a gift yesterday!".
"I'm thanking you for telling me about yesterday and- Wait- you didn't?" Purple asked, her confused state meaning she loosened her grip on Leo just slightly.
He managed to wriggle out of her grasp, feet touching the ground again before he let out a sigh and turned back towards Purple, "Yeah! You were running around so much, giving gifts to the others that I didn't get a chance to give you mine! It felt like chasing a super fast ghost or something!!".
"O-Oh," Purple stammered, before giving him an apologetic grin, "Whoops? My bad?".
Leo let out a sigh, facepalming himself, "Well, lucky for you, I thought to bring my gift with me in case you were free. Here".
He handed Purple a small pouch decorated with a ribbon, filled with chocolates. "Oh, wow!! Thank you so much, Leo!!" she gasped, immediately opening the pouch and popping one of the small chocolates into her mouth.
"They were out of the chocolate boxes when I checked the shops, so I hope you don't mind me getting you kisses instead" he told her, scratching the back of his neck.
"Hm? Kisses?".
"Umm, yeah? Those are called kisses," Leo replied, pointing towards the chocolates in her palm, "Or, I guess they're called Hershey's kisses, that's the name of the chocolate brand".
"Oh, cute!!" Purple gasped, picking out another chocolate and beginning to chew on it, "You're the first one to give me a chocolate kiss instead of a real kiss!!".
Leo's brows furrowed as he looked at her in confusion, "Real kiss- wait. What do you mean 'I was the first???'".
"I gave gifts to the other princesses yesterday and they all gave me a kiss!!" Purple replied to him with a grin on her face, "I thought it was a White Day thing at first, but maybe it's just a mermaid thing?".
There was a look of shock on Leo's face, before he let out a sigh and ran a hand down his face. "I'll... probably talk to them about that later..." he sighed, "But come on, Purple. Class is about to start soon and I don't wanna be late".
"Oh, okay!!" Purple cheerfully replied, stashing the chocolates away in her pocket before following Leo down the hallway.
She was glad Leo had told her about White Day in the first place, it meant she could give gifts to her friends and they could give gifts to her in return!! And she absolutely adored the gifts she was given, every single last one of them.
