Work Text:
Faded thyme cookie had been thinking more often than usual, mostly about themself. Which was strange, most often they would be thinking about someone else, after all their life was boring. Others had such interesting things going for themselves, Faded thyme cookie merely heard about their lives.
Faded thyme cookie was walking, it was a nice day in their domain, the sun shone down through the green leaves of the trees, the ferns were new, still curled up at the ends.
Rabbits and deer were quite common around this area, yet none were out at that moment. They were alone.
not even Blue orchid cookie had come brining them new stories from the rest of beast-yeast. They often enjoyed hearing tales from other cookies, they found stories quite interesting, a nice break from thinking about their own sad life.
Flowers were just beginning to bloom, all in shades of blues and whites, and the ever rare purple flowers. Most flowers were from Silent salt cookie’s domain. They enjoyed having a small memento of their beloved whenever they went.
The mossy forest floor was cool beneath their hooves, a pleasant contrast to the warm sunlight that poured across their dough.
They took a deep breath, it had rained earlier leaving a scent that covered the entire forest. They’d always enjoyed walking around after storms. It had been a simple thing to calm themself down when they’d be bombarded with cookies begging for forgiveness for their sins.
it was funny in a way, them, the once benevolent Giver of forgiveness, now the beast of judgment.
They didn’t mind it too much, it was much easier this way, less to worry about at the very least.
A rustle in the bushes startled them out of their train of thought, they’d half expected to see another cookie, perhaps that foolish ancient who’d been determined to find them for something, wasn’t her name cosmic brownie cookie? They thought it was a stupid name.
A small cat ran from the bush. It was strange, cats weren’t animals the thyme forest got very often at all. It was black.
ugh, it was probably that stupid jester, they hated Shadow milk cookie. He was annoying.
They decided to pay him no mind, instead continuing on their walk.
They’d found themself starting to miss Silent salt cookie once more, they hadn’t seen him since being sealed away in the tree.
he probably hated them by now, sure they’d truly loved each other back when they were still the virtues, but that had most likely changed by now.
they really shouldn’t continue to dwell on someone who barely even knew them anymore.
Clouds were beginning to spread across the sky once more, covering it in a curtain of dark grays and whites, sun still shone down in arcs of gold across the mossy forest floor.
Wind began to blow once more, scattering dew across their hooves and fur. It was decidedly unpleasant, they really disliked water, it would only weigh down their dough and make their fur soggy.
they turned back, perhaps they could spend a bit of time indoors for once.
They often found themselves uncomfortable with the flowers from Silent salt cookie’s domain. The flowers would remind them of him, they didn’t enjoy thinking about him. They didn’t enjoy knowing what they had could never be repaired.
They knew they would never get their old life back, their life had been almost perfect. Well. No. Not almost perfect, they kept romanticizing the utter hell that they had lived through.
rain started to fall, already adding to the puddles strewn across the ground, the plants would certainly be greener after this. A small perk to the near constant rain.
They finally made their way up to the front door of their small hut. It wasn’t something fit for a cookie like them, but they didn’t particularly want to return to the temple once devoted entirely to them, it was a reminder of who they once were.
They stepped inside the hut, it was small, inside there were two beds, and a rug in the center. There was a table with one chair at it, a shelf, and a small fireplace. They didn’t stay inside very often, but they still wanted a place for Blue orchid cookie to relax when she didn’t want to be around faded thyme.
Blue orchid cookie was sitting on the edge of her bed, blankets wrapped around her shoulders.
“good evening.” Said Faded thyme cookie.
“Good evening, father!” They’d never really realized when she had started calling them that. But they didn’t entirely mind.
They sat down on the rug in front of the fireplace, beckoning with one hand for Blue orchid cookie to come sit beside them.
Blue orchid cookie was one of the many cookies abandoned when the six virtues corrupted. Most cookies left as soon as they could, many left their children behind. Faded thyme had taken her in and raised her as their own.
Blue orchid cookie stood from her bed, and walked over to sit beside Faded thyme cookie.
there hadn't been anything to speak about in weeks, nothing interesting at all had happened since Cosmic brownie cookie attacked them.
There was a fresh vase of flowers set upon the table. Blue orchid cookie must’ve picked them sometime earlier today while Faded thyme cookie was sleeping.
Faded thyme cookie had been sleeping a lot more than usual, they’d found themself more tired than usual after their encounter with that foolish ancient who had tried to kill them.
The wind began to pick up outside, rattling the window panes. It was a loud unpleasant noise.
At least they could get some time to rest now.
