Chapter Text
You adjust your cloak knocking gently on the round forest green door. A very bedraggled looking hobbit opens the door a wheel of cheese clutched in his arms "Yes?" you offer a warm smile bobbing in a small bow "You must be Master Baggins, am I late?" Bilbo nods then shakes his head opening the door wider.
Balin is first to spot you offering a warm smile and a knowing look "I thought you were not coming?" You shrug scanning the room "What ever gave you that idea?" he chuckles clearing a space for you at the table "I believe he will have something to say about your decision." Fili and Kili both grin broadly but one look from you stops them from commentating.
Gandalf nods in your direction smiling knowingly. You watch content as the dwarves begin to clear up the mess they created the poor Hobbit stood baffled in the center of all the chaos. Finally the table is clear and Bilbo is slouched on a low stool when a loud knock echoes through the home the poor hobbit practically jump out of his skin. Balin smiles "He's here." You settle against the wall crossing your arms across your chest while Bilbo goes to answer the door.
Thorin looks suitably bedraggled, Bofur gets him a plate of food and jug of ale while the others settle quietly around the table. Thorin sits at the table eating slowly while observing the room, his eyes skip over you before flitting back. His face remains neutral but you know him to well his eyes flashing with anger. You smile slightly raising your brows in challenge. He says nothing but you notice his jaw tighten as he continues surveying the room. Dwalin grins leaning in "You are not going to hear the end of this."
"I know."
The map is revealed and Bilbo is handed his contract shortly after falling flat to the ground in shock. You help Gandalf carry him through to the other room settling Bilbo in an armchair before going into the kitchen too fix a pot of tea.
"I told you to stay with Dis." You smile not turning around "Did you? I don't recall you saying that."
"Y/N this is dangerous."
"I seem to remember you complimenting my fighting skills and not wishing to be apart."
"That is not relevant and yes I hate leaving you but-"
"I am an excellent navigator, healer and can protect myself just fine." he goes quite at this. Finally you turn leaning back against the counter meeting his gaze "Did you really think I was going to let you do this alone?"
"I'm not alone." he mutters glaring at the floor you roll your eyes stepping closer "You know full well what I mean Thorin Oakenshield." he huffs out a small laugh cupping your face gently "Amrâlimê. I can't lose you."
"I am not leaving."
he nods sighing deeply "I know."
"You should know by now my love your stuck with me." he chuckles brushing the hair from your face "Satthiye mushug Khîê." You lean your forehead against his smiling gently "I swore to always protect you and I mean to honour that."
"And I you." grinning you kiss him softly "I cannot believe you got lost." he rolls his eyes "I was not lost merely..." he sighs "You are infuriating." smiling you kiss him once more "You knew that when you married me."
Gandalf clears his throat loudly the two of you stepping apart, Thorin returns to his normal blank expression while you pick up the a mug of sweet tea to give to the hobbit. You hand the Hobbit the steaming mug offering a kind smile before turning to the gathered dwarves. Fili and Kili greet you warmly while Thorin walks into the room with Balin speaking softly. From the glances in your direction you can guess the topic. Fili grins "We're happy you came along Irak’adad/Irak’amad. Uncle is much more bearable with you around."
Chuckling you ruffle his hair "I came because I promised your mother to keep you out of trouble." Kili huffs pushing your hand away "We don't need babysitting." Thorin huffs appearing behind you a gentle hand placed on the base of your spine "I disagree."
The brothers continue to defend themselves before wandering to join the huddle around the fire. Thorin carefully surveys the room both of you taking in your gathered kin. 12 dwarves, 1 wizard and a hobbit. His face turns grave speaking softly so no one else can here "Do you think I am making the wrong decision?"
"I know the dwarf I married and I know that everyone in this room will follow you to the end no matter the outcome. Its not going to be easy but we will face it together." he nods standing tall, leaning closer you speak softly against his ear "I believe in you Dul Nîn."
