Avdol walks into the living room. Big mistake. Polnareff is sat down, looking furious, with his phone propped up against a stack of books on the table (though it would probably fall at any moment). He’s recently taken a liking to posting on social media like someone’s unsociable mother, his 42-follower tiktok account (three of which are Avdol himself) purely just Polnareff with filters or him complaining about something. Avdol was also aware that he, with Jotaro and Kakyoin, had gone to a €500 concert last night to see what was briefly described as “The purple K-Pop girls”. Avdol paid for it anyway, because he was told it was ‘for bills’. He started the video, flimsily pressing the red button on his phone.
“My wee soda pops and I went to see the K-Pop last night. I am so disappointed in them, they didn’t even play any K-Pop songs! We’d even dyed their hair purple and everything, and instead all we got were these people dancing in inappropriate clothes in front of these children. K-Pop, the parents of Belfast are incredibly ashamed of you, and I hope you are punished for this fraudulent concert.”
”Polnareff, what are you talking about?”
”The K-Pop concert wasn’t K-Pop.”
”But Jotaro said they played K-Pop songs, just not from the movie.”
”Listen. I’ve watched the K-Pop movie, I know what K-Pop is. And that wasn’t K-Pop. That was people singing in another language and gyrating in front of children.”
”…K-Pop.”
”A waste of my money!”
Avdol raised an eyebrow. “I thought you needed money for bills? How much must it have been, you’re complaining like it was a fortune.”
”…€500.”
”Jean Pierre, you should pray that you’re lying to me.”
”…€550.”
”You better have some excuse for this not being my money.”
”…€575. …€580 If you include hair dye.”
Polnareff slept in the car that week.
