Chapter Text
The streets of the town square were as busy as usual. It was the first day of the spring season, the sun shining brightly above the kingdom, and with the cool breeze blowing by, it made for the perfect weather conditions.
Carts full of various foods, fabrics, trinkets, and other valuable items were being carried by horseback down the cobblestone roads. Shopkeepers were busy cooking and selling various goods and wares to those who came by, and many Robloxians walked the streets. The place was live with chatter, buzzing with positive energy.
A young Robloxian came running through the streets at a fast pace, the heels of their boots hitting hard against the stone. Two swords hung by their sides on a leather belt around their waist, and atop their head was a golden yellow domino crown. Pristine white hair tied up into a high ponytail contrasted highly to their pitch black skin and the pair of green and black scaled wings on their back. This figure's clothing suggested they were one of a higher class, with fabric made from soft silk and cotton.
Many stopped to stare for a moment, as this wasn't just an ordinary Robloxian. It was Prince 1x1x1x1, 1x he preferred to go by, the creation of the beloved king, Telamon. 1x had decided to cut through the town square in hopes of making his exit quicker.
Never pausing or paying mind to anything around them, they ran around carts, robloxians, occasionally jumping over wares that dropped out of nearly wagons. 1x was almost done cutting through the town square. She was hesitant on cutting through there because of the traffic, but it seems to have paid off.
Once out of the square, it would be a short distance to the kingdom walls, to which 1x planned to climb over. He was tired of being here. He hated this place. He hated it for the destiny it bestowed upon him. The reason for his existence.
A wagon was approaching towards 1x's direction, and there was no room to cut around. With no time planned to be wasted, 1x jumped up, putting their foot of the side of the wagon, and launched themselves forward using the momentum. They kept running.
1x didn't bother to look back, even as the person driving the cart shouted behind them. He didn't have time to acknowledge them. They were almost to those walls, almost to freedom. This time looked like it would finally be a success! Until a bright yellow glow appeared just a few yards in front of them.
The glowing light manifested into a figure in a black cloak, golden patterns decorating it giving it a bit of color. A set of white feathered wings protruded from its back, and a fiery halo floated above the hood, which concealed the entirety of their face, except for 2 eyes looking down at 1x in irritation, their arms crossed.
1x was forced to skid to a halt, stopping just a few feet in front of them. Everyone around turned to stare, many gasps being made by the crowd. It wasn't often that Telamon would make an appearance like this, but in recent months, it had become more of an occurrence.
Telamon looked down at his creation with a slight annoyance, tapping his foot against the ground. 1x looked at him, their zipper mouth turning into a disappointed frown, "Well, shit."
"Really?", was all Telamon had to say, eyes narrowing slightly.
1x just shrugged his shoulders, looking just as annoyed as her creator, "I mean, I don't know what else you were expecting. Did you think I would be riding around the entire kingdom on a golden chariot or something?"
Telamon rolled his eyes, "I didn't ask for your sarcasm. Come on, back to the castle.", he ordered before snapping his fingers and surrounding them both in a pure golden light. They both disappeared as quickly as Telamon had made his entrance. Quiet murmurs and chatter spread throughout the crowd before everything returned to normal and the square was back to its original livelihood.
Telamon and 1x reappeared in the throne room of the castle. The walls were made of stone bricks and a dark hardwood made up the floor, with a bright red carpet leading from the throne to the door of the castle. 1x fell a few feet from the air onto the carpet while Telamon gently floated down placing his feet on the floor. Behind Telamon sat 3 thrones, the one in the center being his, the one to the right belonging to the Queen, Brighteyes, and finally the one on the left belonging to 1x. Staircases sat on both sides of the thrones.
Telamon removed his hood, revealing his short, curly brunette hair underneath and his golden crown sitting neatly on his head. Both of them looked at each other with annoyance. Telamon closed his eyes, pinching the bridge of his nose with his thumb and his finger, sighing deeply in frustration, "How many times are we going to do this 1x?", he looked back up.
"As many times as it's going to take for me to leave this wretched place.", 1x replied angrily, standing back up.
Telamon had no clue what to do anymore. This had been the 9th time that 1x attempted to break out of the kingdom. This was getting exhausting to deal with. "I'm tired of this 1x, I mean it! What do you think the citizens are going to think of you when you step up to rule the kingdom? Running through traffic, angering passersby, all in an attempt to ditch the kingdom behind? It isn't a good look."
"What the hell makes you think I want to rule this place anyway?! Aren't my runaway attempts enough of a sign that I don't care?", 1x argued, making wild hand motions demonstrating their irritation.
Telamon's expression grew more tired and frustrated, "That doesn't matter! Whether you like it or not you'll have to take my place one day, and you need to get a grip before that day comes!"
1x greeted the response with a cold stare in defiance. Telamon’s patience was thinning, and decided to call in reinforcements, "Brighteyes, sweetie, could you come down to the throne room?", he called.
A woman with gorgeous purple hair tied up into a neat bun and a smaller, more refined crown atop her head, hanging a transparent veil over her face, peered over the balcony railing of the second floor. Her voice, light and warm, replied, "Be there in a moment, dear!", as the sound of her heels could be heard clicking against the stone staircase. Her soft, delicate hands ran down the railing as she descended the steps located on the right side of Telamon's throne. Her dress was now in view, a light shade of violet with shiny rainbow fabric being used to adorn her outfit.
Telamon looked to her as she descended the steps, taking her hand as she approached. "1x ran away again.", he huffed.
Brighteyes just sighed in disappointment, "Again, 1x?", looking at them with a tired expression. 1x just crossed his arms and looked at them both. "Sweetheart, this has to stop. You're going to get yourself hurt out there, if not worse."
1x rolled his eyes, "I'll be fine. Are you both unaware to the fact that you made me to have just as much power as him? And besides, I have my swords with me anyway."
"Fancy swords and powers aren't going to protect you from everything out there.", Telamon argued, "We aren't the only Robloxians to posses magic, you know. While ours does serve to be much stronger than most, it doesn't make you invincible. And as for your swords, they won't be able to cut through everything, no matter how good your swordsmanship."
1x grunted in frustration, angrily scowling at the response. "How did you even know I snuck out?! I made sure you were busy before I left!"
"Your little servant told us.", Telamon gestured to the small being of pure light hiding behind his throne. The beings name was Tien, a minion created by 1x, with small feathered wings and a crown similar to their creator's. It awkwardly stepped out from behind the throne a little and gave a small wave.
"You little traitor!", 1x growled, causing his minion to recoil behind the throne again.
"Don't yell at them that way 1x!", Brighteyes snapped a bit, "You've already been warned several times about sneaking out."
Telamon decided he had enough of this, and sat down in his throne, massaging his head, "Just go up to your room, I'll give you your punishment later.", he pointed up the staircase on the left side of his throne.
1x got extremely pissed off but followed her creator's demand anyway, "Fine, but I don't want to talk to either of you, so don't bother coming into my room later. If it's that important you can slide a piece of paper under my door.", they snapped before storming upstairs.
Brighteyes let out an exhale as she watched her son march up to their room, before she sat down in her throne, resting her hands in her lap. Telamon looked at her with a weary expression, "I'm just not sure what to do about them anymore.”, he sighed, “No matter what we try or do, 1x still insists on rebelling."
Brighteyes looked her husband in the eyes sympathetically, "I know, but I'm afraid that just seems to be 1x's nature. They were always more of the adventurous type growing up."
"Yes, but that's not the issue! The issue is that we need to get 1x to be able to take over the throne! If he's constantly running from the very people he's supposed to be leading, then what ruin may come to our kingdom as a result?!", Telamon panicked.
Brighteyes put her hands on top of his, reassuring him with her soothing words, "We'll figure something out, I'm sure."
"But I'm not.", he groaned. "C'mon, think!", he mumbled to himself, drumming his fingers on the armrest of his throne.
"Maybe let's circle back to this later, clearing your head might allow you to think of a good solution. For now, just ease off of it. It's not like 1x is really going anywhere anyway, we always manage to find him before he can get too far."
"I suppose you're right."
"Come on,", Brighteyes stood up with a sincere smile, "let's go upstairs and let you cool off for a bit." Brighteyes led Telamon by his hand upstairs back to their room. They would discuss their course of action later.
*Meanwhile in 1x's room*
1x pushed the door open, a harsh bang echoing as the door flung into the stone wall. 1x immediately took of their crown, slamming it down on the floor, then kicked it across the room. Despite the harsh force, there wasn't a single dent made in the crown.
She grunted in irritation as she slammed her door back shut. The leather belt holding her twin swords was slung on top of her wardrobe, as they didn't feel like putting it away properly at the moment.
1x walked over to his bed, placed along the middle of the left wall, not too far from the door. He basically face planted himself into the sheets, cursing under his breath. They eventually flipped themselves over to lay on their back and stared at the ceiling.
This fucking sucked. He hated it. Why was he supposed to care about taking over some stupid kingdom? Why is that the only thing he's allowed to do with his life. Rotting away on some golden throne behind stone walls for who knows how long.
There was a knock at their bedroom door, then cracking open to reveal 1x's minion from earlier. 1x sat up and saw who it was, "Go away, I'm still mad at you.", they ordered. 1x flopped back down on the bed.
Tien, against 1x's command, still entered the room, drifting their way closely beside them, worried.
"I thought I told you to go away! Shoo! Scram! Get out of here! I don't want to talk to you right now.", he hissed, sitting upright again and crossing his arms. The servant still stayed, yet again choosing to disobey the instructions of their creator.
"You really aren't going to budge are you?", 1x asked annoyed. Tien gave a small shake of its head as if to say "Nope."
1x huffed in annoyance, reluctantly giving in to their golden companion, "Ugh, fine. You can stay in here, but don't think that means I'm not still pissed. I thought you were supposed to be on my side!"
The little being of light gave a small, guilty nod, and 1x stood up from the bed and walked over to the glass door on the opposite wall of his bedroom door. Opening it led to a small balcony, high in the sky, offering a bird's eye view of the kingdom.
1x stepped outside to feel the cool breeze passing through, slightly blowing his hair. She leaned against the railing, using one hand to hold her head up, the other lying along the railing. She looked down to the world below, where she could see the town square once again. She looked past all of it towards the stone walls surrounding the kingdom, while large, they seemed pretty small from a distance.
1x looked at the gap between his balcony and the kingdom walls. It might have been a long way on foot, but the distance could surely be crossed if he were to fly there instead. Alas, there lies the one thing holding 1x back from freedom. 1x spread one of their wings from behind their back and glanced at it longingly, its green and black scales shimmering softly in the sunlight, before tucking it back in again and staring back down at the city.
1x's problem was that he can't fly, despite having these wings for a few years now he's never been able to use them. By the time they were fully developed, around the later end of his teenage years, 1x had already made a habit of trying to sneak out of the palace for the sake of finding adventure. Telamon had worried that the knowledge of flight would make it harder to keep up with them, scared they might sneak out somewhere and get themselves hurt. He had planned on showing 1x how to fly when he had matured a bit more, but ever since 1x started trying to sneak away from the kingdom entirely, every thought of flight lessons was thrown out the window.
1x sighed and continued looking down at the kingdom below them. All those Robloxians down there. Able to forge their own paths to their desires. To experience the world outside the castle walls, that to him, felt so far from his grasp. To live for themselves. All of these things 1x has always wanted since they were young, but got denied that right in the path they were forced to take.
He envied every single last Robloxian, able to do everything he can't. Every one of them was a free spirit, while he was stuck as a caged bird, chained down to one specific purpose. “The Creation of Royalty” as she thought. Lost in their broody thoughts, they didn't notice Tein floating beside them. 1x glanced at them, then turned back to the city below.
1x sighed. "You know why I want to escape the kingdom, Tien?", he asked somberly, "I want a chance to live. To find myself, to be my own person. I've spent my entire life in these same castle walls, being trained into taking the role of King of the Heights, but I want more than that."
1x paused, a wave of melancholy washed over her, "I wanted to be more than just my purpose." 1x gazed at the skyline, towards nothing in particular, perhaps getting lost in thought again. Tien patted him on the back. Despite not having any form of a facial expression, you could tell off of their body language that they were sympathetic.
"Thanks,", 1x looked back at the little guy, but let out a sigh of disappointment and changed his tone, promptly sitting on the railing and crossing his legs, ", but let's face it.", he shrugged, "As long as I can't find a way over that wall, my dreams are about as real as... well- whatever's a good analogy for this instance.", he stuttered.
They looked down at the tiny minion for any form of response, but received nothing. They turned back around to the skyline, before suddenly turning back around to look at Tein. A thought clicked in their mind. She payed attention to the little feathered wings of her comrade and the way they flapped. Sure, Telamon wouldn't teach him how to fly, but maybe they could...
1x's eyes lit up and a grin came across his face, "Hey, since I'd say you kinda owe me for turning me in earlier, how about a little favor?"
