Ren was sitting on the stairs in front of the roads of Trillium, it had only been a day since he got back from his little adventure playing Corekeeper with False, Cleo, Skizz and Impulse and he was still mad about that stupid valentine’s day npc. So maybe it was a stupid ncp and he had no reason to be jealous because the npc wasn’t actually trying to get with False, it’s not like False was his anyway. But False’s words about it were still in his head, “Now that’s how you treat a lady.” It was just some stupid npc with balloons, he could do better than that!
Hmm…
Yes, he could do better than that. He could treat False better than that npc could, he just had to show her.
He had found the perfect spot, yeah it was in False’s base but that just made it easier to get her to come to it. A dark cavern with mossy flooring and drip leaf lights, a place made with False’s vision and love for building, a perfect place to treat her to a nice evening picnic.
Ren started setting up his supplies, he laid out a large blue picnic blanket that was covered in patterns to match the Arcane magic of his base. So maybe it went over False’s path but he wanted it under one of her drip leaf lights so this was the best he could do. He started laying out blue candles around the blanket, it wasn’t the most decorated but he did have a nice spell book. He was going to impress her with a show of magic, he was a wizard after all. He looked over his picnic setup, deciding it was done he went off to get False.
“False!” He walked past the white stone pillars, bumping his oversized hat on the way through the pillars before walking down into her little cave.
“Ren?” False closed her chest as she turned to him, a hint of confusion in her voice. “What are you doing here? I was just about to make dinner dude.” She sounded a bit irritated.
Ren had walked down to her, taking her hand. “You don’t have to worry about that my lady, for I have something planned for you.” He put on a grand voice as he started to lead her out of the little cave.
False raised an eyebrow. “Ren, I don't want any of your horrible cooking and where are you taking me?” She seemed to have realized that she was blindly following him so stopped walking and put a foot on Ren’s wizard cape to stop him from getting anywhere.
“My cooking is not horrible!” He raised his voice in mock offence, lowering his ears to make himself look more offended than he really was. “I’m not taking you anywhere outside of your base and take your foot off my cape!”
False lifted her foot from his cape before nodding at him, Ren assumed it was a sign to start walking again. He slowly walked her past the white pillars and towards the cavern, his tail starting to wig in excitement. Walking her up the cobblestone path under her bridge, he paused for a second before turning to look at False, she looked nervous then he remembered that she hated surprises. “Falsie don’t look at me like that, it’s just an evening picnic.” He waited for her to reply, she looked a little less nervous but she didn’t say anything.
He started walking before slowly turning to walk into the cavern. He walked her towards the picnic blanket.
“Oh Ren!” Her voice was higher pitched than usual, though he had gotten used to her doing that around him. “You didn’t have to do this for me, I’m not worth this kind of stuff.” False looked down, he knew she never really believed in her worth that much but to him she was the greatest thing to walk this earth.
“Nonsense Falsie, of course you deserve all this.” Ren opened his spell book, reading one of the spells then throwing out his hand. The dark cavern was lit by the fiery light of the many candles he had laid out. “It’s how you treat a lady afterall.” He pulled her down onto the blanket, sitting her down beside him.
“Rennn?” False had a look of realisation in her eyes.
“Yes, False?” Ren looked over her face, her well aged features, those beautiful blue eyes. His thoughts were broken by her words.
“What do you mean by how you treat a lady?” She had a confused look on her face.
“I’m simply showing that someone like you deserves more than just a few balloons.”
“Did you do all this just because of that npc?” She looked down with a sad look in her eyes. God he couldn’t lie to her.
“Ermm…yes.” He paused for a moment before speaking again. “I couldn’t let you think that display was how you really treat a lady as good as you False. That was simply just the bare minimum.”
A light blush appeared on her cheeks. “You call that the bare minimum?”
“Yes, giving a lady a gift is the bare minimum, you need to give her an experience.” False looked at him with confusion before turning to watch him grab his spell book.
“So you set up a date to give me that experience?” He froze for a moment, almost dropping his book, a date? She thought this was a date? No this was just him simply trying to show his good friend False that she was worth more than some stupid balloons.
He looked around, trying to figure out how to answer. He looked over the beautiful cavern, the blue candles laid around and the blanket they were sitting on. Oh… this was a date, he had in fact setup a date with his friend False.
“Well it wasn’t planned to be a date…ermm…but it does seem like one.” The pair stared at each other for a moment, neither of them saying a word.
“How about we move on to dinner?” False just nodded at him, he hadn’t really thought about what food to make. Ren opened his book up, looking through to the part about making magical food. What was something False would like? He could ask her but that would make him look unprepared, make it look like he didn’t care enough about her to plan a meat. Something sweet could work, maybe some kind of cake, what could go wrong with cake?
She’d probably like a chocolate cake, most people like chocolate cake…wait…no, no. He can’t eat chocolate cake, ummmm… red velvet is a fancy flavor. He started reading a simple food making spell, blue magic poured out of the pages of the spell book. The magic pooled into the middle of the blanket before revealing a nicely decorated red velvet cake.
“Dinner is served my lady.” He turned to False, a confident look on his face.
False looked at the cake with surprise then turned back to him. “Isn’t that dessert?”
“Who said you can’t have cake for dinner?” He said in a joking tone.
“I guess there’s no one stopping us.” False leaned closer to it before looking at him. “This is an actual cake right? It’s not gonna turn into worms when we cut it?”
“No, it’s real” Ren looked around, realising he hadn’t brought anything to cut up the cake or to eat it on. He quickly grabbed his book and did a spell to make a knife, some plates and spoons so he could eat without getting his fur dirty.
“Did you really forget plates, Ren?” She poked at him before tugging on his fur while giggling.
“Ermm…no, I just wanted to show off more of my magic.” He smirked trying to cover up his lie.
False just rolled her eyes. “So are we gonna actually eat it now?”
Ren quickly started to cut the cake, he couldn’t risk upsetting False.
“No! I’ll cut it, I don’t want fur on it.” False gave him a good shove before taking the knife from his paw.
“I won’t get fur on it.” He let a pathetic little whine as False giggled at him. False laid a slice in front of him as he sat up again.
He picked the plate up and dug his spoon in, it tasted better than he expected it to. He eyed False as she started eating, she seemed to like it so that was a good sign. He kept looking at her as he ate, her gorgeous blonde hair shining in the candle light. God why couldn’t she be his, she was everything he wanted in life. She was so close yet so far.
Ren watched as False finished her final bite of cake, he laid back enjoying the vibe of cavern. He felt something brush against his pelt and land on his arm. He turned his head to see False laying on his arm a blissful look on her face.
“That was better than I thought it would be.” He looked at her as she spoke, she had red icing around her lips. Without thinking he leaned over and licked it off her face, he froze as he watched False’s face turn bright red.
“Ren!” She was obviously shocked by what he had just done. “Ren! You-you really are a dog!”
Ren’s brain short circuited, had he really just done that? He felt his own face warm up. “Umm… I’m a dog! What did you expect?” False didn’t reply, clearly too flustered. He looked over her face again, his eyes laying on her lips. There was really no going back anymore.
Ren pressed his lips into hers, her soft lips just felt so right. It was as if they were made for him. False’s face somehow got even redder, before she closed her eyes and pressed into the kiss. Her hands pulled on his fur as she dragged him closer. He pressed his face against hers for what felt like hours. He landed on her with a thud as she finally pulled away from the kiss.
His head laid on her chest, the sound of her heavy breathing filling his ears. He felt his tail hitting him as it wagged.
“Did we really just do that?” He raised his head to look up at False, his chin resting on her chest. She looked surprised as if she didn’t even know what she was doing.
“Yeah, yeah we did.” His eyes looked down, what if she didn’t like him. God what if he just ruined everything.
“Blimey, did I just do that?” She paused. “Rennn?” He raised his eyes to meet her gaze.
“Yes, False?” What if she didn’t like what they just did, what if she hated him now?
“What does that make us now?” She had a nervous look in her eyes, as if she was scared of being rejected.
“Whatever you want us to be.” Now he just had to hope that her whatever was the same as his. He could hear her heart beating in her chest, as he heard her voice.
“I’d like to be…” She held her breath for a moment. “You’re girlfriend?”
Did she just?
She wants to be his girlfriend?
“If it’s not too much to ask, I know we’re just friends.” The nervous tone in her voice worried him for a moment.
“Of course I want you to be my girlfriend!” Ren pushed his arms under her and pulled her closer, like she was going to leave him if he didn’t answer fast enough.
“Really?” shock filled her voice, her face once again blushing.
“Of course, I’ve wanted you for years.” She had a surprised look on her face.
“Years? How many years?”
“Since season four…well since we met actually.” False had a nervous smile, had he creeped her out? Was she going to regret this now?
“How didn’t I notice?” She watched him as he pulled her to be at eye level with him.
“I don’t know, I thought it was embarrassingly obvious.” Ren let out an embarrassed chuckle. He felt her soft hands brushing through the fur on his neck. “But that doesn’t matter, what matters is I finally have you now.” He slowly pressed his lips into False’s again, but this time it wasn’t just a poorly timed kiss with his friend. Now it was his first kiss with his lover.
