Chapter Text

The U.A sports festival has arrived.

The sports festival was a way to show off, no matter what course your in. The hero course students use the festival in hopes of getting recognized for their possible skills in hero work. The support course students use it to show off the support gear that they made. The management course doesn't participate in the festival, they instead use it to practice their management skills by watching the students who are in the competition. And finally, the general education students. They get both the most and the least out of the sports festival, if they are just attending U.A for the academic classes then they don't get anything out of the sports festival but a fun time and a few bruises, but if any of the students want to transfer into the hero course, then they have the chance.

Izuku Midoriya was stressed. He knew he had to do well in the sports festival to impress All Might, technically it doesn't matter if he does that great because he was already working with the number one hero, but he still wanted to impress his idol. That's not the only reason he wants to do good though. He might have a quirk now, but he wants to do well to prove that he isn't useless anymore, that he really is better. He would prove it to himself and the world.

Neito Monoma was ready. He was sure that he had the perfect strategy to get noticed at the sports festival. He would do okay in the first round, then shoot up to the top in either the second or the third. Who doesn't love an underdog, right? He would prove that his class was better than those 1-A brats. That he was better. He refused to be looked down on, not again.

Mei Hatsume was excited. She was ready to show off her babies. She knew that the sports festival would be her time to shine. If she made it to the final round, which she would, then all of the world could see what a great inventor she was, and they would be so impressed that, maybe they wouldn't think she was weird.

Hitoshi Shinsou was prepared. He was going to put all his efforts into winning the sports festival and transferring into the hero course. There might not be many heroes without flashy quirks, but there were a few, he bet that some of the underground heroes would have some too. He didn't know any underground heroes, they were underground after all, but he had heard that 1-A had one teaching them. No wonder everyone loved their class, underground heroes can teach them skills that limelight heroes don't even know exist. He would win the sports festival. He would get into the hero course. He would prove that his quirk wasn't villainous, but heroic.

Midoriya was on the last obstacle and he knew exactly what to do. He used the landmines and the piece he took from the robot, and shot forward, ahead of both Todoroki and Kacchan. He expected his strategy to give him a boost, but not to help to completey win the first round. He looked around in shock as he realized that he was the first person to finish the course. The crowd was yelling and for once, he felt like they might actually believe in him. It felt nice.

Monoma heard an explosion from up ahead, a loud one. He hadn't quite made it to the final obstacle, he was still trying to stay near the middle. He assumed it was the Bakugou kid, he rolled his eyes and focused back on the task at hand.

Hatsume used her quirk to check out the sound coming from in front of her. All she saw was purple dust that seemed to come from an explosion of some kind. It was bigger than any explosions she had seen, and she had seen a lot, she was the one to make most of them after all. She would worry about it when she got to the obstacle, it might be a quirk and not something she would have to worry about.

Shinsou couldn't see much, he knew that when the landmines exploded it would be difficult to see, but this was something else. The dust clouds shouldn't be this big, should they? Suddenly he saw a figure soaring above the ground on what seemed to be a piece from one of the robots from earlier. Whoever that person was, he might want to watch out for them in the following rounds.

Midoriya might have won the first round, but now he had a target on his back.

Monoma figured that one of the 1-A students would have won, they didn't understand strategy like he did. Now, time to find a team.

Hatsume looked at the boy who won the first round and decided, he's going to be on my team.

Shinsou heard that the the person who won the first round hadn't used his quirk yet. He knew better than to find that impressive, quirks aren't everything, besides he might have used a quirk and people just didn't notice, not all quirks are physical. But he was in the hero course, did he get in without a quirk made for combat?
