Finally

Summary:

“Oh my god.” Minji’s voice softened slightly when she spoke again.

“Hanni.”

Hanni lifted her head. Minji’s eyes were still on her.

“Are you jealous?” Minji shifted slightly in the water.

Hanni stared at minji, her heart racing she could feel it in her throat.

Work Text:

The van door slid open with a soft mechanical click, and warm air immediately rushed in.

The humid. Thick with the smell of saltwater and plants and something sweet Hanni couldn’t quite name.

Danielle was the first one to lean out.

“Oh my god,” she said, blinking against the sunlight. “Wait. This place is insane.”

Hanni followed her out, sneakers hitting the smooth stone driveway. The resort stretched out in front of them, quiet and green and far nicer than she’d expected. Palm trees swayed lazily above narrow stone paths, and tucked between the trees were a row of wooden villas, buildings with wide glass doors and private decks.

From where she stood, Hanni could already see a flash of blue water behind one of them.

“Those are pools,” Hyein said, pointing immediately.

Haerin squinted. “Private ones?”

“Private ones,” Danielle confirmed dramatically with a gasp admiring the place with awe while Haerin grabbed her suitcase for her and the others with Minji's help. “I’m never leaving.”

Staff members were unloading equipment nearby while their manager spoke quietly with someone at the front desk area. The girls had already started drifting down the path, peeking at everything like curious tourists.

Hanni adjusted the strap of her bag on her shoulder and stepped aside to let Minji pass.

Minji had two suitcases. One of them wasn’t hers.

“Why do you have Dani’s bag?” Hanni asked.

Minji glanced over her shoulder, like she’d just realized.

“Oh.” She shifted it a little higher in her grip. “She said it was too heavy.”

From somewhere behind them, Danielle yelled, “Because it is!

Hanni laughed quietly. Minji didn’t complain about it. She just kept walking, like carrying everyone else’s stuff was normal. Hanni's lips tug into a frown, she usually carries her bags only.

Okay this was stupid.

They gathered near the entrance of the path while the manager finished talking with the staff member.

“Alright,” he said finally, clapping his hands once to get their attention. “There are Two villas reserved for you. one are right here—” he gestured to the first pair nestled close to the main walkway, “—and the last one is a little farther down.”

“How far?” Danielle asked immediately.

“Quite far,” he assured. “you might need a golf cart kind of far. But it is more private.”

That word didn’t seem to comfort anyone.

Hyein leaned closer to Haerin. “Private means scary.”

“It does not,” Minji said, amused.

The manager continued, unfazed. “Each villa has two beds and its own pool.”

Danielle gasped again like this was brand new information.

“Okay wait wait,” she said quickly. “But if it’s farther away then it’s darker, right?”

Haerin nodded very seriously.

“Yes. Exactly.”

“It’s literally ten extra steps,” Hanni said.

“Ten steps is a lot at night.”

“No it isn’t.”

“Yes it is!”

Minji watched the argument grow with a small smile tugging at her mouth, it was loud but it was comforting.

Eventually it turned into the predictable problem. No one wanted the last villa.

“Three of us can share,” Danielle offered quickly. “That’s fine.”

“Hey that's unfair, during the road trip you literally said you wanted more privacy.” Hanni pointed out, Minji standing with her arms crossed besides her.

“That’s unrelated.”

The manager looked mildly concerned. Minji sighed. “We’ll take it,” she said, nodding toward the path leading farther into the trees.

Everyone turned.

Hanni blinked.

“We?” Danielle repeated.

Minji shrugged, by we she meant Hanni

.

“I don’t care. I'll get goodnights sleep without you three bickering in my ear anyways”

"Alright grandma don't forget to take your meds" Hyein joked, Minji rolled her eyes as they all laughed at her.

Her gaze slid briefly toward Hanni.

Hanni hesitated for half a second before lifting her suitcase handle.

“Yeah,” she said lightly. “We’ll take it.”

“Brave,” Danielle said.

“Foolish,” Haerin added.

Minji scoffed at her members before making her way down the path.

“Cowards!” Hanni yelled out following her from behind. "The golf cart is right next to your villa if you need it" The manager yelled after them.

"got it!" Minji answered.

The others began giggling and goofing over sharing the same room, but Hanni barely heard them anymore. She was already following Minji down the stone path.

The farther they walked, the quieter it got.

The chatter from the others faded behind them, replaced by the rustling of leaves and the distant sound of water. Small lanterns lined the path, unlit for now in the afternoon sun.

Their villa appeared around the curve of the walkway.

It was smaller than the others but somehow nicer. Dark wood, wide windows, and a small deck stretching out from the sliding glass doors. Just beyond it, half hidden by greenery, was the pool Hanni had spotted earlier.

Up close, the water looked almost perfectly still.

Minji set the suitcases down near the door and stretched her shoulders.

“Not scary at all,” she said.

Hanni stepped onto the deck, peeking around the corner toward the pool.

“Okay,” she admitted. “This one might actually be better.”

Minji followed her gaze.

“Told you.”

For a moment neither of them moved. The air was warm, quiet. Somewhere nearby, something chirped softly in the trees.

Hanni pushed a strand of hair out of her face. Immediately, Minji reached out and fixed it properly.

Her fingers brushed lightly against Hanni’s temple as she tucked the strand neatly behind her ear.

“It's windy here huh,” Minji said adjusting her hat.

It was such a small thing.

She did it all the time. Fixed Dani’s bangs, brushed sand off Hyein’s jacket, adjusted Haerin’s collar without thinking.

Hanni knew that. Still, something in her chest shifted slightly as Minji pulled her hand back.

A strange, familiar feeling. She’d realized it a while ago. Slowly, piece by piece. Small things stacking up until the pattern became impossible to ignore.

The way Minji always reached for her first in crowded spaces, she noticed when Hanni was cold before Hanni said anything, her hand lingered just a second longer sometimes.

Hanni had figured it out eventually.

And then she’d decided, very firmly, not to do anything about it.

Some things were easier left alone.

Minji pushed the sliding door open.

“Come on,” she said, glancing back. “Let’s claim the good bed before the others change their minds.”

Hanni followed her inside but the quiet feeling in her chest didn’t leave.

It hadn’t for a while.

And she had a strange feeling this trip wasn’t going to help.

"Mhh we have a photoshoot tomorrow, let's settle in" Hanni threw herself onto the bed not too far from Minji's with a loud groan.

"Vacation sheets smells amazing" She said, her voice muffled into the bed.

"You're an idiot" Minji lets out a laugh from how carefree Hanni was being.

...

Today was weird..

Somehow Hanni catches Minji staring at her more often during their shoot.

you know those awkward moments where you're staring and someone is already staring at you so you lowkey just make eye contact for a minute.

The main pool was bigger than Hanni expected.

It curved around the center of the resort like a small lake, the water reflecting the soft golden lights strung between the palm trees.

Music drifted quietly from somewhere near the restaurant, and the air smelled like grilled food and the ocean.

They’d finished most of their filming for the day already and now they were finally allowed to sit down and eat.

Danielle had claimed a chair the second they arrived “I’m starving,” she announced, dragging a plate closer to herself. “This shoot was exhausting.”

“You took three naps,” Haerin said flatly.

“That was method acting.” Dani huffed out already reaching for the basket of fries.

“For what?”

Danielle paused, chewing thoughtfully.

“…Vacation vibes.”

Hyein snorted at the answer.

Hanni sat cross-legged in her chair, absently stirring the ice in her drink with her straw

"Isn’t the view was insane though" She joins the conversation.

Across the table, Minji nodded and was leaning back slightly, one arm hooked over the back of her chair, listening to Danielle complain with a small amused smile.

Hanni put her drink down and groaned.

"Alright lets eat, I'm starving...!" She complained picking up her fork and staring at the food filled table enthusiastically.

"Let's eat!" Hyein said, follows Hanni’s actions.

The warm lights made everything feel softer somehow.

The water behind them rippled quietly whenever someone jumped into the pool nearby.

It was calm, Hanni let the wind blow in her hair as she took a deep breath, chewing on her food.

Until Danielle suddenly pointed her fork across the table.

“Speaking of the shoot,” she said.

Minji narrowed her eyes immediately. “No.”

Danielle grinned wider. “Yes.”

Hanni glanced up. “What?”

Danielle nudged Haerin and leaned forward like she was about to share a secret. “Minji made a friend today.”

“Oh my god.” Minji groaned.

“A friend?” Hyein perked up instantly, her mouth half filled with the steak she ordered.

“What kind of friend?” Haerin lifted her head from where she’d been quietly eating.

Danielle wiggled her eyebrows dramatically. “The boy kind.”

“There was no boy.” Minji dropped her head back against the chair.

“There was,” Danielle insisted.

“He was literally following you around between takes.”

“He was not following me.”

“He asked you questions!”

“That’s because we were standing next to each other!”

Hyein leaned forward across the table.

“Wait wait wait,” she said excitedly. “Did you exchange numbers?”

Minji sat up immediately, her hands thrown up in protest “No!”

Danielle burst out laughing.

“She’s so defensive!”

Hanni found herself smiling despite herself. “What boy?” she asked.

It came out casual enough. Danielle turned to her eagerly.

“He was one of the crew guys helping with lighting,” she explained. “Tall, black shirt, hair like—” she gestured vaguely at the air above her head.

“That describes half the crew,” Minji said.

“No, the one who kept talking to you.”

“He talked to everyone.” She shook her head whilst taking a sip of her drink.

“He told you that you looked cool.”

“That’s not flirting.” Minji stared at her.

“That’s absolutely flirting.”

“He said you looked cool?” Hyein gasped quietly like this was the most interesting thing she’d heard all day.

“It was a normal compliment!”

Hanni sipped her drink, watching the conversation bounce around the table.

“Did he ask for your number?” Haerin asked calmly. Minji pointed at her accusingly.

“You’re supposed to be on my side, Haerin.”

“I’m gathering information.” She shrugged.

Danielle laughed again. “See? Suspicious.”

“There is nothing suspicious.” Minji dragged a hand down her face.

Hanni tilted her head slightly. “What was his name?”

Minji looked at her, The table went quiet and Hanni malfunctioned. She hadn’t meant to sound that interested.

Minji shrugged. “I don’t remember.”

Liar

“That’s a lie!” Danielle almost choked on her drink trying to answer.

“It’s not!”

“You literally called him by name when he handed you water!”

“I forgot.” Minji rubbed the back of her neck.

“You did not forget.”

Hyein leaned toward Hanni conspiratorially.

“I think she liked him.”

“I did not.”

Haerin nodded thoughtfully.

“Suspicious denial.”

Minji looked like she was about to flip the table.

“I spoke to him for five minutes.”

“Five romantic minutes,” Danielle corrected.

"Alright don't make me mad I'm about to crash out on every single one of you"

Hanni laughed with them but something strange tugged lightly in her chest.

“What did he look like?” she asked. Danielle immediately turned back to her.

“Oh! Tall.”

“That’s not helpful.” Hanni laughed out.

“Nice smile.”

“Still not helpful.” hanni was starting to wonder why she was so interested to find out. This wasn't any of her business. This was friends teasing eachother right?

“He had dimples,” Hyein added.

Minji stared at her.

“You talked to him too?”

“I observe.”

Hanni felt herself nod slowly, processing this information like it mattered more than it should.

Dimples, Tall, Nice smile.

Minji noticed.

“You’re asking a lot of questions,” she said. Hanni blinked.

“Oh.”

The others were still watching her. She shrugged, trying to sound normal.

“I’m just curious.”

Danielle leaned back in her chair, grinning. “See? Even Hanni wants to know.”

Minji didn’t laugh. She just looked at Hanni for a second longer than usual before glancing back down at her food.

“stop pissing me off,” she said jokingly.

The conversation moved on quickly after that.

Hyein started talking about dessert. Danielle argued about ordering three different things. Haerin was already scrolling through photos from earlier occasionally showing it to the group.

The noise returned to normal.

But Hanni’s mind stayed stuck somewhere else. Back at the beach earlier that day. The shoot had been chaotic.

staff moving equipment, cameras everywhere, wind blowing sand across the set.

She remembered glancing up between takes and seeing Minji standing near one of the lighting stands.

Talking and laughing while the guy had leaned down slightly when he spoke to her.

Minji gave a smile that only lasted a few seconds before the staff called everyone back.

Hanni had forgotten about it. Or at least she thought she had.

Now the image replayed in her head in quiet, uncomfortable detail.

She stirred the melting ice in her drink again. Across the table, Minji glanced up briefly.

Their eyes met. Hanni didn't realize how intensely she was staring at this poor girl.

Then Minji looked away.

And Hanni suddenly wasn’t as hungry anymore.

...

The villa was quiet by the time they came back. The resort lights outside had dimmed, and the air felt heavier.

The sliding door to the deck was cracked open just slightly.

cold air drifted in with the faint sound of water moving somewhere in the pool outside.

Hanni stared at the ceiling.

She’d been trying to sleep for what felt like an hour.

Maybe longer…

The sheets twisted around her legs every time she turned over.

The pillow was too warm, then too flat, then somehow uncomfortable in a completely new way each time she adjusted it.

She groaned quietly and rolled onto her side again.

Across the room, Minji’s bed was a dark shape in the dim light.

Minji had shuffled out of bed a few moments ago. Hanni didn't stop her, in fact she acted like she was asleep.

Minji probably needed to clear her head after a long day of work.

Hanni pressed the heel of her hand against her forehead.

What the hell was her problem?

Her stomach twisted again. that same weird feeling from dinner earlier.it stirred with something unpleasant.

Butterflies, maybe.

Except butterflies weren’t supposed to make you feel like you might throw up.

Outside, soft crickets chirped in the trees. Somewhere far away, water splashed faintly, was Minji in the private pool?

Hanni shut her eyes tightly.

Stop thinking.

That usually worked, except tonight it didn’t.

Because the second she tried to stop thinking, her brain decided to replay things instead.

Small stupid moments.

Minji handing her a drink earlier that afternoon,

Minji walking slightly ahead of her on the path to the villa,

Minji reaching up to tuck her hair behind her ear.

Hanni flipped onto her back again, staring at the ceiling.

This was stupid. She’d already figured this out months ago. It wasn’t new. It had just been… manageable and easy to ignore.

Until tonight.

Until the stupid boy conversation and Danielle’s stupid teasing and the stupid way Hanni’s chest had tightened when she imagined Minji smiling at someone else.

She squeezed her eyes shut again.

Go to sleep.

Instead, another memory surfaced.

Earlier that day at the shoot they’d been moving between setups, staff adjusting lights and cameras while everyone waited around awkwardly in the sand.

Hanni had been standing near one of the shade umbrellas, scrolling through her phone.

Minji had walked over.

“Your mic pack’s showing,” she’d said. Hanni had looked up, confused. “Where?”

Minji had stepped closer without answering.

Really close.

Before Hanni could even react, Minji’s hands were already at her waist, gently pulling the loose fabric of Hanni’s shirt down to cover the small microphone pack clipped to the back of her shorts.

“Hold still,” Minji had murmured.

Hanni remembered freezing completely. Minji’s hands had stayed there for a second longer than necessary, adjusting the fabric carefully.

Warm...

Hanni hadn’t meant to stare. She really hadn’t.

But suddenly Minji had been right there in front of her, face just inches away as she focused on fixing the shirt properly.

And Hanni’s eyes had dropped just for a second to Minji’s mouth.

Her lips had been slightly parted in concentration, the sunlight catching faintly on the curve of them.

Hanni remembered thinking something strange in that moment.

Something stupid...Something like-

Oh.

Minji had finished adjusting the shirt and looked up.

Their faces had been way too close, neither of them had moved.

Then Minji had stepped back casually, like nothing happened.

“There,” she said. “You’re good.”

Hanni hadn’t answered. She’d just nodded.

Now, lying in bed in the dark, Hanni suddenly sat upright.

The movement was so abrupt the blankets tangled around her legs.

“Holy shit,” she whispered into the empty room. Her heart was beating way too fast.

She dragged both hands down her face and let out a long, tired sigh.

Of course that was what this was. She wasn’t stupid.

She’d known something was wrong with the way she looked at Minji sometimes.

The way certain moments stuck in her head longer than they should. The weird flip in her stomach when Minji got too close.

Hanni flopped back against the pillow, staring at the ceiling again.

“I have a fat crush on Minji,” she muttered quietly.

Saying it out loud made it sound even worse. She groaned softly, covering her face with both hands.

“No fucking way.”

This was a disaster. She got up and walked towards the back door.

Hanni stood just inside the sliding door for a moment, letting her eyes adjust to the dim light outside.

The pool glowed faintly blue under the surface lights, the water barely moving.

Minji was already there. her hair wet and eyes focused, maybe sharing a room further away wasn't so bad after all.

She paused mid-stroke when she noticed Hanni, her head lifting slightly above the water.

“You’re awake?” Minji asked, a little surprised.

Hanni pushed the door open the rest of the way and stepped onto the wooden deck.

The night air was warm against her skin, carrying the soft sound of crickets from somewhere in the trees.

“Couldn’t sleep,” she muttered.

Minji watched her quietly as Hanni walked toward the edge of the pool.

Her clothes were clearly not meant for swimming. Loose cotton shorts and an oversized shirt that slipped slightly off one shoulder when she moved, the hem brushing the tops of her thighs.

It was the kind of thing people wore when they expected to go straight to bed.

Hanni sat down slowly on the edge of the pool anyway.

She leaned back on her hands and dipped one leg cautiously into the water.

The cold made her flinch immediately.

“Oh,” she said under her breath.

Minji let out a small laugh from the water.

“You should just come in.”

Hanni shook her head quickly, pulling her foot back a little before letting it settle again.

“No way. It’s freezing.”

“It’s not that bad.”

“You’re already wet. That doesn’t count.” Hanni shot back.

Minji pushed herself closer to the edge of the pool until she was right in front of where Hanni sat.

Her forearms rested against the concrete ledge as she leaned there comfortably, the water lapping softly around her shoulders.

Wet strands of hair clung to the side of her face.

She tilted her head slightly.

“Just try it.”

Hanni dipped her foot a little deeper into the water, testing it again.

“Nope,” she said firmly. “Still cold.”

Minji smiled faintly, like she didn’t believe her.

Hanni kept her leg in the water anyway, slowly drawing lazy circles with her foot beneath the surface.

The water rippled outward, brushing against Minji’s arms where they rested on the edge.

The quiet stretched between them.

Moonlight reflected faintly across the surface of the pool, moving whenever Hanni shifted her leg.

Minji watched her. she watched the way Hanni was watching everything else.

The way her eyes kept drifting back to Minji and then quickly away again.

Minji noticed. Hanni felt it too.

That strange pull of being looked at.

She cleared her throat slightly and leaned forward, resting her weight on her palms behind her. Her wet foot lifted just slightly out of the water before dipping back down again.

“Did you actually like him?” she asked.

Minji blinked.

“The guy from the shoot,” Hanni clarified, still staring at the water instead of at her.

Minji answered immediately. “No.”

Hanni nodded slowly.

“Okay.”

Her leg continued moving through the water, though the small circles had slowed.

Minji studied her for another second.

“You seemed really interested earlier.”

That made Hanni glance up.

“What?”

“At dinner,” Minji said.

Her chin rested lightly on her crossed arms now, her voice calm but curious.

“You were asking a lot of questions." Hanni frowned.

“I was just asking.”

“You asked what he looked like.”

“So?”

“You asked his name.”

“I was curious.”

Minji hummed quietly.

“You’re a bad liar,” Minji said quietly. Hanni let out a soft scoff. “I’m not lying.”

“You are.”

Hanni dragged her wet foot slowly through the water again, creating a lazy ripple that spread outward.

“You’re reading too much into it,” she muttered.

Minji tilted her head slightly.

“Am I?”

“Yes.” Hanni shrugged.

“You asked if I liked him.”

“That’s a normal question.”

“You asked it twice.”

Hanni opened her mouth, then closed it again. Minji noticed. The corner of her mouth lifted slightly.

“See?”

Hanni glared at her. “You’re enjoying this way too much.”

Minji let out a quiet laugh, the sound low and warm in the quiet night air.

“I’m just curious.”

Hanni groaned softly and leaned back on her hands, tilting her face up toward the sky like the answer might be written somewhere above them.

“why are you still talking about it?” Minji mumbled.

Hanni didn’t respond immediately.

The crickets outside filled the silence between them for a moment.

When she finally spoke, her voice was quieter.

“I don’t know.”

Minji watched her carefully. The answer had been too honest it caught her off guard.

Hanni seemed to realize it a second later.

She exhaled slowly and rubbed her forehead with the back of her hand.

“It just…” she started, then stopped again.

Minji waited.

Hanni let out a small frustrated laugh.

“I don’t know why it bothered me.”

The words slipped out before she could stop them. Minji’s expression shifted slightly.

“Bothered you?” she repeated. Hanni looked down at the water again.

Her foot had stopped moving completely now.

“Yeah.”

Minji pushed herself a little higher against the edge of the pool, resting more of her weight there.

“Why?”

Hanni shook her head. “I don’t know.”

“That’s not a real answer.”

“Well it’s the one I have.”

Minji studied her face quietly. Hanni felt the weight of that look even without meeting it.

“You don’t usually get weird about stuff like that,” Minji said after a moment.

Hanni huffed softly. “Thanks.”

“I mean it.”

“I know what you meant.”

Minji nudged the water gently with one hand, sending a faint ripple toward Hanni’s legs.

“You were staring at me earlier too.” Hanni’s head snapped back toward her.

“I was not.”

“You were.”

“I wasn’t.” Hanni argued, Minji smiled faintly again raising her eyebrows at her.

“A little.” Hanni dropped her head forward with a quiet groan.

“Oh my god.” Minji’s voice softened slightly when she spoke again.

“Hanni.”

Hanni lifted her head. Minji’s eyes were still on her.

“Are you jealous?” Minji shifted slightly in the water.

Hanni stared at minji, her heart racing she could feel it in her throat.

her ears warmed.

Then Minji lets out a quiet laugh, trying to lighten the mood.

“Come swim with me.”

“Huh?”

Hanni barely had time to react before Minji reached up.

Her hand wrapped firmly around Hanni’s wrist.

“Minji-”

One quick pull. Hanni slipped forward with a startled yelp as the edge of the pool disappeared beneath her. Cold water swallowed her whole.

She resurfaced seconds later, coughing slightly as wet hair fell into her face.

“Are you insane!?” she sputtered. Still trying u to o keep her volume down since it was late.

Minji was laughing now, pushing her own hair back from her forehead.

“You said it was cold.”

“It is cold!”

Hanni wiped water from her eyes and glared at her.

“My shirt—”

Minji shrugged.

“Now it’s a swim shirt.”

“That’s not a thing.”

Hanni lunged forward, splashing water toward her in retaliation. Minji leaned back just enough to avoid most of it, still grinning.

“Okay, okay-”

Hanni grabbed her arm before she could move away. The motion pulled them closer together.

Minji’s hands came up automatically, catching Hanni by the waist to steady them both in the water.

The laughter faded.

Water moved slowly around their bodies as they stopped struggling.

Hanni’s wet shirt clung lightly to her skin now, the fabric heavier with water.

Minji’s hands were still resting at her waist.

Hanni suddenly became very aware of how close they were standing.

Minji’s hair was wet, small droplets sliding down from the ends and landing softly on Hanni’s shoulder.

Hanni lifted her head slightly.

And looked at her. Really looked.

The wet strands of hair sticking to Minji’s temple.

The faint shine of water along the curve of her collarbone.

The way her lips were slightly parted from laughing seconds earlier.

Minji felt the shift immediately.

She noticed the way Hanni’s eyes moved.

The way they paused, just for a moment to her mouth.

Minji’s hands tightened slightly on her waist without thinking.

the silence was ruining Minji, she swallowed.

Something in Hanni’s chest tightened sharply.

Her hand moved before she could think about it, fingers curling lightly into the fabric of Minji’s shirt near her shoulder, holding her there.

Hanni could feel Minji’s breath, it was warm compared to the cold pool water.

“Say something,” Minji murmured, her voice in a begging tone.

Hanni shook her head faintly, her stomach fluttering to her voice.

“I can’t.”

“Why not?”

“Because if I do-”

She stopped and looked away.

Hanni’s grip tightened slightly on her shoulder.

“-it’s going to make everything weird.”

Minji’s expression softened.

“It already is.”

That made Hanni let out a quiet, breathless laugh.

“Yeah,” she admitted.

Minji’s thumb brushed lightly along her jaw.

“Then just say it.”

Hanni hesitated longer than she intended, this felt stupid. Why was she the one who had to confess first.

she always thought minji would be the one to say it first.

“I think I like you,” she said quietly. Minji’s hand slid slightly from Hanni’s jaw, down the side of her neck, her fingers brushing over her collarbone. letting the confession sink in cause right now, she felt hella cocky.

Hanni’s breath caught.

“I can’t believe I got you to confess first” Minji said softly. “Over a boy I don’t even care about”

Hanni blinked.

“What?”

“It’s a little obvious, to me at least” Minji added. Hanni froze at her words and Minji’s lips curved just slightly.

Hanni let out a quiet groan.

“I actually hate you”

Minji laughed softly. Her hand at Hanni’s waist pulled her just a fraction closer.

Hanni didn’t resist. She couldn’t, the way minji tilted her head slightly drove her insane.

The kiss was soft at first.

Just a gentle press of lips, she was testing it, she wasn’t completely sure Hanni wouldn’t pull away.

Her hand tightened slightly against Minji’s shoulder instead, steadying herself as everything in her chest seemed to rush all at once. Minji felt it.

Her hand rubbed Hanni’s waist holding her a little more firmly as she leaned in more to deepen the kiss. The water shifted around them with the movement, rippling softly against their legs.

Hanni exhaled against her lips, her mouth parting and then she kissed her back.

Minji tucked her hair behind ear, pulling back slightly just to tilt her head and kiss her again.

Hanni’s hand slid from Minji’s shoulder up along the back of her neck, fingers threading lightly into damp hair, pulling her just a little closer.

Minji’s breath caught, she sighed into the kiss. Hanni was the one who pulled back this time.

just enough to break the kiss. She felt the warmth of minjis lips leaving her.

Her hand slipped from the back of Minji’s neck to her own hair pushing it back messily from her face.

Strands clung to her skin, damp and uneven, and she dragged them away impatiently.

She looked at Minji properly. Really looked.

Her chest was still rising a little too fast, breath not quite steady yet, lips slightly parted like she hadn’t finished saying something. Hanni’s eyes were different now. softer, and heavier somehow. clouded, everything else had faded out except the person in front of her.

Like she’d been thinking about this for way too long and now it was happening. Hanni’s gaze dropped slowly.

From Minji’s eyes to her mouth. Her thumb lifted without thinking.

It brushed across Minji’s lower lip messily. Her hands shook as if she hadn’t fully caught up to what she was doing yet.

Minji inhaled sharply as Hanni swallowed. Her thumb lingered there for a second longer than it should have, tracing lightly before pulling back just enough to hover. Her voice was quieter than before. “I didn’t like it,” she said.

Minji’s eyes flicked back up to hers.

“Hmm?”

Hanni shook her head slightly, like she was trying to put the feeling into words and getting frustrated with herself.

“That guy,” she said. “At the shoot.”

Minji went still. “Him again?” She softly teased.

Hanni’s gaze didn’t waver this time.

“I didn’t like him talking to you like that.”

The water shifted softly around them as Minji adjusted her stance, still holding onto her.

“Hanni i don’t-”

“I know it’s stupid,” she cut in quickly. “I know you said it was nothing, I just…”

She exhaled, her grip tightening slightly where her hand had dropped to Minji’s shoulder again.

“I didn’t want…” she started, then paused.

Minji waited.

Hanni’s jaw tensed faintly before she finished it.

“I didn’t want anyone else thinking they had a chance with you.” The words hung there. Minji felt something in her chest pull tight. God hanni was being cute.

Hanni looked away for half a second, like even that had been too much to admit out loud.

Then she looked back.

“And I didn’t like that I cared,” she added, quieter now.

Minji’s hands shifted at her waist, pulling her just slightly closer without thinking.

“I’m all yours,” she said softly.

Hanni let out a small breath that almost sounded like a laugh.

“Say it again.”

Her thumb brushed against Minji’s lip again, lighter this time, like she couldn’t help it.

“I’m yours Hanni Pham.”

hanni’s breath hitched. She couldn’t help but smile as she leaned in. Not to Minji’s lips. Her head tilted slightly lower, her breath warm against Minji’s skin as she moved lower from her jaw.

A sharp inhale left her as Hanni’s mouth pressed properly against her neck. The contact made something in Minji’s chest stutter.

“Hanni…” she said again, her voice softer and uneven.

Hanni leaned in closer her mouth parted and she kissed her neck softly, preparing her. Minji’s head tipped back just slightly without her meaning to, exposing more of her throat.

Hanni paused for half a second.

Then she bit down. She wanted it to hurt a bit. Payback for making her jealous. Minji’s breath catch sharply, a soft sound slipping out before she could stop it.

“Mmmh…”

Hanni softened it immediately, her lips pressing over the spot, lingering this time. she then pulled back and Minji breathed out thinking it was over. But Hanni stopped her, using her hand to tilt her head to the side.

”wait-“

Then again, minji covered her mouth, she felt her knees weaken from the impact. It felt ticklish in a good way.

Minji’s grip tightened, her fingers curling slightly against Hanni’s side as she steadied herself.

The sensation settled deeper this time. Hanni wasn’t going easy on her. She wanted it to bruise enough to leave something behind for a whole week, or maybe just enough so the people on set could see it. So he could see it. When she finally pulled back, it was slow.

Her lips lingered for a second before she lifted her head. Minji’s breathing was uneven now. Her chest rising a little faster, her head still tilted back slightly from before.

Hanni looked at what she’d done, then to minji’s flustered face.

Her thumb brushed lightly along Minji’s jaw and she traced the marks she had made, her voice low when she spoke.

“Mine” she murmured.

“I know,” Minji answered softly. Hanni shook her head with a proud smile on her face.

then she realized.

“We should get out of the pool huh. We have a job to finish in less than 5 hours”

Minji groaned her head landing on hannis shoulders. “alright that’s enough, back up bro time for bed” Hanni joked pushing her back with her finger on minjis forehead.

“You’re so frickin lame”

...

Morning came too fast.

were being rolled out across the sand, makeup kits opened under shade tents, cameras adjusted and tested. Hanni stood off to the side with Hyein, arms loosely crossed, trying to look normal.

Trying very hard to look normal. It was not going well, the night after the confession Minji would not stop messing with her.

Her hair was tied up messily, a few strands falling loose around her face. She kept adjusting it, like that would somehow fix the fact that she was still very aware of everything that had happened just hours ago.

The water.

The kiss.

Minji.

Hyein was mid sentence about something, probably breakfast, when she suddenly stopped.

“…Oh.” Hyein pointed out, her head tilted slightly.

Hanni blinked. “What?”

Hyein’s eyes shifted past her. “Look. It’s him again.”

Hanni followed her gaze automatically.

The guy from the shoot stood near one of the lighting rigs, talking casually with a crew member. Same as yesterday, same guy that pissed Hanni off really badly.

And Minji was standing right there with him, she was smiling politely but she seemed uninterested. Still didn't make it easier.

Hanni’s stomach flipped.

But pride rise in her chest after last night, she knows Minji isn't going anywhere.

Minji said something to him, nodded once, then stepped away.

She spotted them almost immediately. Or...Hanni, specifically. Her eyes landed on her first.

Then softened as she walked over.

“Have you seen Dani and Haerin?” Minji asked.

Her voice was casual, but she wasn't even trying to hide the fact her voice was softer than usual.

Hanni swallowed.

“Uh- no,” she said, trying to sound like her brain wasn’t short circuiting. “They said something about getting coffee?” Hyein cut in pointing at the tent.

Minji nodded. “Right.”

She glanced briefly at Hyein then, offering a small smile. "Don't forget to eat breakfast" She said to Hyein.

"I will!" Hyein blinked back at her.

Minji turned to leave. And that’s when Hyein saw it. The mark just above Minji’s collarbone, slightly hidden by the neckline of her shirt, but not hidden enough.

Hyein froze. Her eyes snapped from Minji-

To Hanni.

Back to Minji.

Then back to Hanni again.

Minji walked away like nothing happened but Hyein didn’t move.

“Hold on...”

“Hm?” Hanni blinked, turning to Hyein.

Hyein didn’t answer immediately her finger slowly lifted.

“What was that?” She pointed at Minji, then very slowly pointed at Hanni.

Hanni frowned. “What was what?” Hyein just stared at her, her eyes narrowed slightly.

“…Turn around”

“What?”

“Turn around buddy....”

“No?” Hanni scoffed at her face.

“Hanni.”

“What?”

Hyein grabbed her shoulder and physically turned her slightly, Hanni lets out a yelp.

“Hey, what are you-!" Hyein leaned in, and she saw it. Right at the back of Hanni’s neck, just under her hairline. A mark Minji had left when they were sharing the bed for 'Payback'

Hyein gasped loudly, almost choking on her own spit.

“HOLY SHI—”

Hanni slapped a hand over her mouth instantly. “Are you insane?!” she hissed, her face burning up.

Hyein’s eyes were wide, her gasp muffled under Hanni’s palm as she struggled slightly.

“Shh!”

Hanni tightened her grip, glancing around frantically to make sure no one was looking.

“Do you want to die?” she whispered aggressively.

Hyein tried to speak, It came out as muffled nonsense. Hanni leaned closer, lowering her voice. her eyes darting forward smiling at crew workers passing by.

“If this gets to Danielle-” she started, eyes narrowing. Hyein went still immediately feeling Hanni's grip get tighter as a warning. “Not. A. single. word,” Hanni said, each word quiet but deadly serious.

“Got it?”

Hyein nodded rapidly, Hanni slowly removed her hand. Hyein inhaled sharply the second she was free, immediately covering her own mouth this time, eyes still wide.

Then, dramatically fake sobbed into her palms.

“I can’t believe this,” she whispered. “I can’t believe you—”

“Shut up.”

“I trusted you-”

“You’re being so loud.”

“You and Minji..!”

“Hyein.” Hanni grabbed her shoulders this time.

“Focus.”

Hyein blinked, a bit offended Hanni didn't tell her anything before she had to find out herself.

“Okay,” she whispered. Hanni narrowed her eyes.

“Say it.”

“I won’t tell.”

“Say it properly.”

“I, Lee Hyein,  will not tell Danielle or Haerin,” Hyein recited with her paplm up, barely holding back a grin now. “Or anyone else.”

Hanni studied her for a second then slowly let go. Hyein immediately leaned in again, whispering quickly

“When did this happen.”

“Last night.” Hanni groaned, dragging a hand down her face, clearly blushing.

Hyein’s eyes widened again.

“LAST-?!”

Hanni slapped her arm lightly.

“Quiet.”

Hyein clamped her mouth shut again. “Oh my god,” she whispered. “Oh my god.”

Hanni looked away, trying to hide the way her ears were turning slightly red. “Don’t make it a big deal,” she muttered.

Hyein stared at her, Then glanced over at Minji again.

"Okay so how was it"

Hanni rolled her eyes and smacked her shoulders.
