The button of my eye

Summary:

In true Kim Soleum fashion, he buys a pink bunny plushie and makes clothes for it. (Not because he misses his good friend) & in true Braun fashion... he gets jealous.

Notes:

Short one-shot! I got this idea during my chemistry class, and I needed to write it down or else I would forget it.

Oh! And we are going to pretend that after the whole fiasco with Braun he stayed in his company dorms for like a week or two.

Work Text:

A soft velveteen plush sat idly on top of his bed. A stark contrast against his white comforter and the cream-colored walls of his dorm.

After escaping Braun's clutches, Kim Soleum has been dreaming of candy clouds and pink rabbits. More often than not would he find himself doodling small rabbits on his notes or absentmindedly stroking his breast pocket.

Rather weird considering that he's usually plagued by hellish nightmares.

After seeing pink bunnies everywhere, he decided to make perhaps the second most embarrassing purchase of his life...

He bought a velveteen rabbit.

On a rare bout of free time, he scoured many toy websites (in an incognito tab, he wouldn't risk others finding out about this.) until he settled on one company that let him customize his stuffed friend.

It was rather fun, but he felt like he was doing something... wrong.

He knew he was dependent of Braun, but he never realized the extent of his dependency. When he couldn't fall asleep without his bunny keychain protecting him, he knew he was in deep.

Kim Soleum told himself that he missed the little toy rather than the entity that was held inside it. He bought another stuffed bunny simply because his body was used to routine. It's as simple as that.

Now whenever he entered his dorm room, he was greeted by lustrous pink fur and soft beaded eyes. A familiar sight.

With his past stuffed friend he was scared of doing something that would cause offense. He was mindful of his actions because he knew what hid behind layers of cotton.

However, his new friend was much more considerate. Instead of merely living perched on his dresser he actually slept with it. Tucked under the covers every morning after a good night's rest.

If Baek-Saheon noticed that he was missing his signature little bunny, he didn't have the guts to comment on it.

Although Kim Soleum wants to make it clear that he's over the pink bunny and his new friend is in no way related to Bruan. He spends all night thinking about what he should do to make that known.

In the end he decides that his new friend should also have a new look. The lovely pink shade of its fur would pair nicely with many colors and clothes.

Kim Soleum now spends most of his free time (while he waits for Director Ho's instructions) knitting and making cute outfits for his new friend he decided to call Brown.

Brown looks so cute in pastel colors, and Kim Soleum's sleep has been steadily improving.

There was never a dull moment in their time spent together. At least Braun would like to think so. Working together on his show was perhaps the highlight of their friendship. See from the moment Kim Soleum set foot in his studio, he knew that they were very alike.

Braun and Kim Soleum both thrived under the limelight, born entertainers he'd say. Kim Soleum's only shackle was himself and Braun wanted to set him free. That is what friends do after all.

Trapping and kidnapping aren't words he'd use to describe what transpired, however for the sake of your understanding, he'll use them. (Unpleasant as it may be)

Yes, he kidnapped Kim Soleum, but it was for his own betterment! Braun could tell that working with him made the little deer happy.

The diamond finally left its display case and under his spotlight he shined oh so beautifully. Braun doesn't mind sharing if its with him.

They weren't just friends, their bond transcended that! They were good friends.

Braun understood if Kim Soleum needed some time alone, he really did. Wasn't he a generous friend? If Kim Soleum needed a break from their relationship he would allow it.

Braun was happy just watching the deer frolic in the forest from afar.

Abruptly his friend decided he wasn't enough. Surely that was the case because the Kim Soleum Braun knows would never readily replace him!

It was preposterous!

Braun had been busy all day working on his show and he had been counting down the hours, minutes and seconds until his next break! He had been meaning to check in on his friend and when he did, he was met with horror!

His friend had bought a tacky pink bunny. Was it supposed to resemble him? How insulting! Atleast his bunny vessel was cute!

To make matters worse Kim Soleum slept with the damned thing. Could you imagine?! Instead of keeping it as mere decoration (like he had done to him) Roe-Deer actually spent his nights holding it close to his heart!

The stupid inanimate barbarian was sharing a bed with his friend, and he was supposed to be alright with it? Braun knew Kim Soleum got lonely but was that really it? Did Roe-Deer really buy another stuffed animal because he was feeling lonely?

Braun would like to think that he was feeling lonely, but he was lonely because of his absence! His Soleum was the type to be petty and he understood that perfectly.

It was a waiting game.

Roe-Deer would never admit to himself (and to Braun) that he needed him. If that grotesque pile of cotton comforted him than who was Braun to tell him otherwise.

Although he would appreciate it if Kim Soleum would refrain from showering it with his affection. Braun's rightful affection might he add.

He looked away for one second and Kim Soleum was making clothes for it! Clothes! Braun isn't jealous by any means, but even he has a breaking point.

Kim Soleum dressed it in frilly dresses and adorned it with crocheted hats and bows. He cared for the other bunny so much it seems.

He hopes the bunny was bought with him in mind.

Recently he learned that Kim Soleum even named it.

Brown

The bunny had adopted a homophone of his name. Brown. Braun.

Kim Soleum must miss him more than he thought.

And that thought alone made his own loneliness easier to endure.
