Chapter Text
Ola couldn't get much sleep last night, as usual. All she heard was this constant clatter and humming from shuttle engines being restored after some mild accident while turning them on... that's what she’s been told at least. Rather dismissively, so.
With Talon looming around more frequently, the mutual headache shared by the agents throughout Overwatch is becoming more palpitate.
Although they had our wins and losses as a whole, it still makes something churn in her gut. She ain't that much of a rookie or has been in Overwatch as long as Aleksandra’s friends and colleagues, but her heart just can’t stop worrying.
Could have abandoned it all, not having a clue about anything going on in here. Living somewhat happily in Poland, working in her field and being oblivious to everything.
But playing dumb is for hypocrites. Everyone gets affected in one way or another. Making no stand is a foolish decision. Maybe she’s stupid, Ola wonders sometimes. Her motives are mostly driven by having nothing to lose. At least back where she used to work and station. No one worth staying for.
Life’s before recall has become so dull and meaningless, it has made Ola numb inside out. Like a ghost lingering in the same place. You’re there, alive and breathing but not quite. Wouldn’t make much change for her old colleagues either. Nor the family, which doesn’t even deserve to be called that in the first place.
She dreamt about this place for so long, it was almost tactile, at the reach of her arms… yet the harsh reality hit her again and again every sunrise and sunset. It drove her insane.
She props herself up on the bed, before taking in her surroundings. Huh. Everyone is still asleep, wonderful.
Ola rolls over, squinting her eyes at the bed in front of her. Her face twists in confusion, making the blonde woman lean on her elbow as she tries not to wake whoever is sleeping there.
Agents switched their places on Watchpoint all the time, depending on what they were working on the base. Though, most of the time she’s been with the same people surrounding her.
As she gets close enough to look at their face properly, a tiny sigh echoes in the air, and it makes her jerk back a bit.
While it almost swept her off balance, funnily so... it sounds familiar. It was comforting too. It reminded her that even her stupid mind convince her otherwise they're really not alone in this. They're all part of this big community, always looking after each other even in those rough times.
While we're all diffrent, from all around the world, it just works out. You know you have people that look out for you, care for... they see you. That's what makes it all worth it at the end.
Ola lay on her back, while a soft yawn slipped through her mouth. For once, she finally felt this sort of calmness through her. It feels... nice. Rather unfamiliar, but welcomed.
The air around the girl suddenly feels icy, making her arms instinctively lean closer to her blanket.
She rolls on her side again, looking through the silhouette of the person laying near her. A content sigh rumbles through her chest as her mind finally lets fatigue take over her tired body, finally letting her eyes fall shut.
