Childish Children

Summary:

Daki deals with getting hit by the lucky 'child distribution system.' Unfortunately for her, there's no refunds.

Notes:

Daki has a pleasant night-interrupted by a demon under her care. Of course, anytime Daki has a good time it's interrupted by one person or another. Ugh.
(I haven't watch the anime in like a year. Forgive me if anything is wrong!)

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter Text

Daki had been having a wonderful night. The moon was shining, further illuminating the pleasure districts making everything all the more beautiful…and everyone else all the more manipulable. To put it quite simply, everyone was very lustful, the atmosphere required it. So little ol’ clever Daki put her talents to good use-seducing every handsome little man and pretty little woman in sight, leading them away and away…right to their pathetic little graves. It was hilarious, really, watching their little human faces scrunch and water in betrayal before DYING, the life leaving their hopeless eyes as their body fell limp…he he~!
Of course, for every good, there had to be bad. The consequence of such a good night meant that while Daki was eating, she just HAD to be disturbed. Even if she was eating on the highest roof in the entire district. While Daki was chewing on flesh, she heard the sound of claws scratching against roof shingles and small grunts.
Without wasting a glance, Daki used one of her obis to grab the struggling demon clinging to the edge.
Sukoshi. That child. Who had managed to follow Daki, even up here in the heights. Daki narrowed her eyes, already completely done with whatever foolish thing Sukoshi would utter. It was always one thing or another with her.
“What is it, you little brat?”
Sukoshi said nothing, huffing slightly and attempting to wriggle out of Daki’s grip. Daki just tightened her obi, earning a little noise of protest from the small demon. Sukoshi squirmed again before going completely limp and then proceeding to glare at Daki with all four of her eyes. Daki blinked, before scoffing. The audacity of this little runt needed to be studied by Lord Muzan himself. Daki was an uppermoon, one of the Twelve Kizuki-yet this rodent acted like she and Daki were...equals. For someone literally named 'Little' they sure had a big ego.
“What? What do you want? You can talk, use your words! Or am I going to have to claw your throat out to get-”
Sukoshi’s stomach growled. Both demons froze, with Daki dragging a hand slowly down her face as Sukoshi managed to finally squirm out of Daki’s obi, faceplanting on the ground.
This kid. Daki felt like she had aged 300 years within the last few weeks of dealing with this little gnat. Daki was supposed to be timeless, glorious, beautiful! Yet if it was possible for demons, Daki's hair definitely would've turned grey from stress.
“Are you hungry? Why didn’t you just say so?! You’ve wasted so much time with all this hissing and complaining, all that was needed was a meal! I swear, in all my years I…”
Daki trailed off as Sukoshi sat up, sniffling. Her eyes were watery, with one of the four looking faintly red.
No. No no no, how high did Daki drop her?! It wasn’t even a few feet, why is Sukoshi crying? Why did one of her eyes get injured? Oh no, oh-oh, Daki didn't mean to-wait, it wasn’t Daki’s fault! What was Sukoshi thinking?! If she knew she was that high up in the air, why did she still squirm out of Daki’s grasp?! UGH, kids!
Sukoshi sniffled again, hiccupping as a tear trailed down her cheek. Daki immediately walked over, crouching and picking the small demon up, gently rocking the latter. The whole process felt infuriatingly natural, if that wasn’t annoying enough.
“Hey no, no crying. Don’t you dare start getting teary on me. Guyutaro would be a pain in my ass if he found out you cried. ‘Oh Daki, stop dropping Suko! Oh Daki, stop allowing your staff to feed Suko human food! Daki, why can’t you do anything right! Daki, Daki, DAKI!’ EUGH! I swear, he's such a-well, you know!”
Sukoshi dug her claws slightly into Daki's skin-or attempted too. Even most swords couldn’t break her skin, under-developed claws surely wouldn’t. Still, Daki let out a long, exhausted sigh, reaching over with one hand to grab a nearby corpse while holding Sukoshi with another.

The only sounds emanating from the roof were that of demons feeding. Daki had been making her way through her pile while Sukoshi had devoured only two bodies. The latter’s face was a mess, her little teeth gnawing upon flesh and struggling to break bone as she chewed. That was something Daki wondered about constantly-how did such a thing ever have hopes of one day hunting on her own?
Ugh. Daki would never have that problem. She was perfect from the goddamn start. Oh, how everyone must envy her.
Daki tore into an arm, feeling a humerus crush under her jaws. She chewed blissfully, casting a glance towards Sukoshi in her lap. The little demon’s injured eye had already started regenerating at the very least. Yet…her face was so messy. Covered in blood and guts and who knows what else. Sukoshi looked absolutely filthy. Daki frowned, leaning over-
And opening her mouth, tongue extending as she began to lick Sukoshi’s face. Sokushi let out a noise of shock, squirming slightly and trying to get out of Daki’s grasp before turning away and speaking her first words of the night.
“Mpmh-hey-stop, stop…I’ll clean…myself off….”
Daki just let out a disbelieving scoff. Yeah right, as if that girl could do anything on her own. Yet Daki’s own words held far less sharpness and spite than she’d liked.
“No. Stay still, stop squirming. You’re such a sloppy eater, you need me for everything. Quite pathetic, really…”
And went straight back to licking. Sukoshi let out a small, sad hiss, before reluctantly leaning in and going quiet. Daki continued to clean her, licking Sukoshi like an overgrown cat licking its kitten.
For a long time, the two simply stayed like that, the sound of a soft tongue brushing against skin. The sun wouldn’t be rising anytime soon at least, not for another three hours if Daki was right-which she always was.
…Hmph. What would this child be without Daki? Daki had found her stumbling around the abandoned mansion off the far side of the pleasure district, where Sukoshi’s only company was some rotten skeleton she dubbed ‘daddy.’ Children were such weird things. Daki supposed even demonic children weren't above having quirks.
Sukoshi let out a small yawn, nuzzling further into Daki before falling asleep. Hmph-never has Daki met a demon so…cuddly. Or one that…well, still needed sleep like a human. Sure Sukoshi could go without it, but then she got grumpy which in turn made Daki grumpy which made everything worse. What was wrong with this kid? So needy, it was obvious that only Daki could’ve provided for this child. Any other demon? Ha, too weak. Any of the twelve Izuki? Feral beasts-except perhaps Upper 1 or 3...and Douma. Those three could probably take good care of a kid. Lord Muzan...hm, perhaps if Daki had absolutely NO other options left.
Not that Daki would let them. The only other being she’d ever trust to PROPERLY look after Suko was Gyutaro.
Who was currently in Daki’s storage, eating some of the people SHE had hunted and caught, fair and square. Eugh, of course…. Gyutaro was lucky he was one of Daki’s favorites.

The stars were at least beautiful tonight. All shining bright, their glows corresponding with the moon’s own ever-luminous light. Eventually, once her instincts had been quite satisfied and Sukoshi's face was cleansed of all the remains from the carcasses, Daki stopped cleaning Sukoshi, leaning backwards with a small sigh. What was she going to do with this kid, hm? Why did Muzan even turn her into a demon? Daki doubted that Sukoshi would ever be beneficial to finding that blue spider lily…if it even existed at this point. No matter. Daki would shape the young girl into the perfect, perfect, PERFECT-
…well, almost perfect...demon. Only Daki was perfect. Oh yes she was, she was amazing, fantastic, beautiful, glorious, and every human and demon alike was perfectly envious of her! Why wouldn’t they be? Daki was-
“Egghhf…the sun’s about to come up soon. What are you…doing here still? Shouldn’t you be getting ready? Big auction tomorrow and all that, according to you.”
Daki turned sharply, narrowing her eyes as she met Gyutaro’s face. Guess she got lost in her own head and didn’t notice Gyutaro sneaking up on her.
“Oh hush. I’m still upset about you eating some of my humans. Whatever-WHATEVER! I’ll just go hunt some more. Yes, I’ll get ready in a few minutes, just let me rest for a moment, it’s none of your business.”
Gyutaro, in his almost infinite patience, simply raised an eyebrow, sitting next to Daki. One of Sukoshi’s eyes cracked open-turning to Gyutaro before closing like nothing happened. Suko somehow managed to shove her face more into Daki’s body.
Gyutaro let out a soft huff.
“Want me to take care of her for the day? You saw what happened when you left her alone in the storage for 24 hours.”
Oh yes, Daki remembered. She had to leave mid contract that'd help rocket her wealth in order to calm Sukoshi, who had-after sleeping a solid 14 hours-begun biting and clawing at one of Daki’s sentient obis. It wasn’t…painful, or really efficient, but still. It was like a cat attempting to claw through cardboard-more amusing than anything.
Still, what to do, hm? After a moment of thinking, Daki nodded to herself, running a hand through Sukoshi’s hair.
“Mph…No, no. I got her. I’ll have her work with some of the other girls in the house. Who knows-maybe Little could actually shape their pathetic asses into something a man would actually want.”
Gyutaro shrugged, reaching over to grab some of Daki’s leftovers before standing up and walking off. Daki watched him for a moment longer before calling out to him.
“Oh-and tell me if you see…anyone that smells or looks…weird. Probably just another slayer, but I can tell that there’s someone in the district who is quite...peculiar. That’s all.”
Gyutaro let out a grunt, waving backwards before hopping off the roof. Daki turned away, now facing the rising sun. There wasn’t enough light to burn, not yet at least.
So for a few moments, Daki simply sat, holding a sleeping child in her arms.
…And to think, this night was supposed to be for herself.

Eugh.
Whatever.
