Chapter Text

Haskin, Ivandia, the country which no tourists visited. The place where everyone is corrupt and the only way up is to kill. The home of freaks and ferals. A place where everyone forgot what it was like to be 'normal' to be able to leave the country. They forgot how to act civilly, how they used to love each other. They forgot all these things, and no one seemed to care. Ivandia was never meant to be a peaceful place; it was always destined for darkness. Its cobbled stone road and the concrete apartment complexes that spanned up into the sky, all craved to be coated in blood. The smell of death longed to stain the air, worse than the smell of toxic waste.  And this wild outlandish desire was fulfilled by those who sat at the top.

One night, it was a night that was colder and darker than the rest. The stench that everyone was accustomed to, seemed to cling to the smog filled air more than normal. There were only a few brave souls out and about, mostly drinking or on their way to get drunk. These drunken brave souls were the ones who would never raise any suspicion about their status, the Middle class probably. In the distance, a car alarm had been set off as wells as the distinct sound of glass breaking. The only working traffic lights changed from orange to red, casting an eerily glow on the streets below.  But these things they were normal. Typical, everyday things for the citizens of Ivandia. Maybe it is for this reason that no one spared her a glance. And if they, did look for more than a few seconds they would have probably thought her to be another prostitute. Her steps were careful, measured even. She was abnormally quiet for someone wearing heavy black combat boots. Invisible was a word that would often be used to describe someone like her. Her blonde hair was cut short and framed her face making her look almost gentle. However, it would be hard to tell that with how much her brown baker boy hat covered her face. Her brown eyes flicked back and forth along the path, as her nose twitched upwards as the aviator glasses she wore slide a little further down her nose. Her pale fingers brushed over the calling card in her jacket pocket; it felt as if it was burning a hole through the leather itself. Her stride faltered slightly as a stray dog ran across her path, chasing what appeared to be some small mutant rodent. Her breath steamed up in front as she let out a sympathetic sigh. She carried on her path; the flickering streetlights overhead attempted to lighten her path but to no avail. Her eyes squinted slightly as a neon light jumped into life next to her.

As if it senses the tension in the air, the moon faded behind the overcast sky, darkening the streets even further. Her head turned behind her slightly, watching for anyone who might be out to follow her. After a few seconds, she ducked down into the alley way next to her, avoiding walking into the tipped over bins, or the remains of something to her left. She huffed, softly to herself, before her attention snaps up to the door at the very end of the alleyway. The door is being pushed open, letting the warm golden light of the room inside spill out into the dark alleyway.  Her head instinctively tilts as her feet pull her to step back into the darker shadows of the alleyway. She keeps watching the door as a man steps out into the dimly lit alley way, his back illuminated by the soft light behind him. He fumbles in his pocket with slight tremble in his hands, before holding a pre-lit cigarette to his lips. The glow from the cigarette reveals the man to have a scar across his nose, his eyes are piercing and icy blue, whilst his long black hair is pulled back into a bun, only a few strands of hair dare to defy the rest, gently framing his face. Her throat dries slightly as she takes the rest of him in. She has heard of him before, but she didn't expect his presence to be this... commanding. Her feet seem to have a mind of their own as the take her forwards into the light. He notices her immediately, smirking as he takes her in, glancing at something next to him before nodding, his mouth opens, his voice is everything she thought it would be, "Hello, Teodora".
