Chapter Text
shen yu had a bad habit.
He liked finishing novels in one sitting, no matter how late it got, no matter how much his eyes burned or his brain begged him to stop.
That night, it was Silent Reading.( The light in the dark.
He lay sprawled across his bed, phone inches from his face, scrolling through the final chapters with the intensity of someone whose emotional stability depended entirely on fictional detectives and unresolved trauma.
“…finally together,” he muttered, staring at the screen.
Fei Du and Luo Wenzhou
After everything—manipulation, darkness, restraint, near self-destruction—they ended up in something that looked almost… normal.
shen yu exhaled slowly.
“Must be nice,” he said to no one.
A pause.
Then, with the kind of impulsive stupidity only sleep deprivation could justify, he added
“What if I transmigrated into this novel?”
He snorted at himself immediately.
“Yeah right. And I’ll go bother Captain Luo just to see if President Fei gets jealous
“Yeah right. And I’ll go bother Captain Luo just to see if President Fei gets jealous.”
That thought amused him way more than it should have.
He grinned, tossed his phone aside, and pulled the blanket over his head.
“Alright,” he mumbled, half-asleep already, “just let me be rich at least…”
Darkness swallowed the rest of his words.
Morning came with sunlight.
And silence.
This wasn’t his room.
His bed was not this soft. His blanket was not this expensive. And his room definitely did not smell faintly of polished wood and something vaguely luxurious.
He opened his eyes.
Ceiling—too high.
Chandelier—too real.
He sat up slowly.
“…what?”
The word came out hoarse, like his brain hadn’t fully loaded yet.
A hotel room.
A very expensive hotel room.
shen yu blinked, then looked down at himself.
Silk sheets.
Bare arms.
…Wait.
He froze.
Something felt off.
Very off.
He scrambled out of bed and stumbled toward the bathroom like a man heading to his own execution.
The mirror was right there.
He looked up—
—and immediately took a step back.
“...No.”
He leaned closer.
“NO.”
The face staring back at him was not his.
Sharp features. Pale skin. composed expression even in confusion—like the default setting of this face was “calm control.”
He knew this face.
Of course he knew it.
He had spent the entire night reading about it.
similar to Fei face
The mirror did not argue.
Shen yu grabbed the sink with both hands.
“Okay. Okay. Calm down. Think logically.”
He pointed at his reflection.
“You are Shen yu ”
Pause.
“…probably.”
He looked again.
“…but you look similar to Fei Du.”
Another pause.
“…definitely.”
His brain finally caught up with the situation.
Transmigration.
Novel.
Silent Reading.
Fei Du.
Luo Wenzhou.
shen yu slowly straightened.
Then—
a grin spread across his face.
Slow. Dangerous. Completely inappropriate for the situation.
“Oh,” he said softly.
“Oh this is going to be fun.”
Ten minutes later, he had confirmed three things:
This was absolutely not his world.
He had money. A lot of it.
His face was nearly identical to Fei Du’s— difference to not be the same person… but enough to cause problems.
shen yu sat on the edge of the bed, scrolling through the phone he found on the nightstand.
“shen yu "he read aloud from the ID.
So that part stayed.
“Nice. At least I didn’t completely disappear.”
He flopped backward onto the bed again.
Now came the important part.
Timeline.
If this really followed the novel…
That meant somewhere out there—
Fei Du existed.
And Luo Wenzhou.
Together.
Living their post-canon life.
shen yu covered his face with both hands.
For exactly three seconds.
Then he sat up again like he’d been struck by lightning.
“Wait.”
A slow, wicked smile returned.
“If they’re already together…”
He swung his legs off the bed.
“…then a little harmless interference won’t ruin anything, right?”
His conscience: This is a terrible idea.
shen yu “I know.”
He stood, stretching lazily.
“But imagine his face.”
Fei Du. Calm, unreadable, perfectly composed—
—dealing with him.
Shen yu laughed under his breath.
“And Captain Luo…”
He tilted his head, already picturing it.
“…he’s definitely the easy one to approach.”
A pause.
Then, with absolute confidence:
“Step one,” he said, grabbing his jacket, “find the police bureau.”
“Step two…”
He grinned.
“Annoy them.”
Outside, the city moved like nothing had changed.
But for Shen yu—
everything had.
And somewhere, not too far away, a man with sharp eyes and sharper instincts was living a life that did not yet include him.
shen yu stepped into the sunlight, hands in his pockets, completely unbothered.
“Let’s see,” he murmured.
“How long it takes before he notices me.”
