i get drunk on the sound of your laughter

Summary:

After a long night of drinking with their teammates at the local bar, a drunken Shidou drags an equally drunken Sae outside to talk. Sae decides to get payback for always being on the receiving end of Shidou's antics.

Notes:

first fic posted? lets see how this goes :p i freaking love writing oneshots so much there's like no pressure or expectations cuz nobody's read the fic yet

don't think about the finer details too much! imagine that sae and shidou are permanent members of the u-20 team and bllk vs. u-20 already happened (not important tho)!

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Fuck, Sae had already wanted to go home since they stepped foot in this shithole, but this was too much.

Shidou had accused him out following him outside the bar, drunkenly slurring his words while Sae had to learn to read lips for like, the first time in his life, to decipher whatever the fuck Shidou was trying to tell him.

Japan’s U-20’s were on a team outing for the second time this month, two times too many for Sae’s absolutely nonexistent social battery (the first having exhausted him to the point of him not even being able to make it upstairs to bed). Earlier tonight, Shidou had dragged him out of the dorms, refusing to let him “meditate in his room on a Friday night like a fucking loser”. And because Sae never took shit from anyone, he had insisted that he was completely fine with staying back at the dorms enjoying the peace and quiet that Shidou could "never in his half baked life provide", and watching Taxi Driver for the umpteenth time because who was he without his routine. He might’ve thrown a few punches towards the blonde as well, but who’s keeping score?

Shidou had dodged a few and gave him a brief, challenging glance before he grabbed his TV remote and booked it out of the room.

Sae, running off of probably less than three hours of sleep due to his insomnia being an absolute bitch, and having used the rest of his energy to wrestle Shidou out of his room like a fucking idiot, physically could not even muster up the energy to win this fight with the blonde like he always did.

He briefly considered texting his manager to relay a message telling Ego to go fuck off and die with his lukewarm program, only because he wanted somebody to feel just as pissed off as he did, before Shidou came running back into his room, slamming himself into his doorway, on accident or on purpose Sae would never know, and proclaimed that he would not bother Sae for an entire week if he were to join the team in the party bus in 20 minutes and for him to wear something cute, but also sexy, but its okay because Sae-chan never has to try and be sexy because he just always is—

Sae had rolled his eyes and told him to go tell Rin the exact words that came out of his mouth and to let him know what he says.

Shidou scoffed and told him to go and fuck himself because there was so way he would talk to the shittier Itoshi when he had the real deal standing right here. Sae had rolled his eyes, but he let the tiniest sliver of amusement sneak through his typical bored expression. He was sure Shidou could decipher it; he’s never met anybody else who could see him like the blonde could.

Maybe Sae had spoken too soon, because Shidou decided to open his big fucking mouth and ask Sae what was up with him, why did he look so sad and depressed, and did Shidou do something to make him mad? No, he couldn’t have, Rin had probably pissed in his cereal for breakfast, but wait, nevermind, because Sae-chan probably doesn’t eat cereal right? He was definitely a total health freak like that—

In one quick motion, Sae had slammed the door shut in Shidou’s face and told him to fuck off and wait for him downstairs with the others like a normal, sane person. Jesus, maybe he was just fucking tired and not all emo and depressed like his shitty, lukewarm brother. But as they say, hindsight is 20/20, and as he looked at the blonde’s current state—the slurred mumblings that Sae wouldn’t even consider words if he didn’t know Japanese, he wished he used a different description. Even though Shidou had followed his orders and waited downstairs (because when did he ever not listen to Sae), he would never, ever, be a normal, sane person.

“Shidou, I don’t… know what the hell you’re trying to tell me. I didn’t follow you anywhere, you wouldn’t let go of my jacket until I walked with you. Are… are you finally gonna listen to me and move, little demon?” Sae, despite being irritated as ever, refused to let it show on his face. His efforts were futile, though, because the blonde was hunched over Sae’s shoulder clutching his arm like a lifeline all while Sae had been leaning against a wall for support (the result of an unsuccessful, drunken attempt to escape the demon).

You’d think a few minutes just standing outside and freezing both their asses off would sober the guy up, even a little bit. Sae’s just a tad bit grateful Aiku pressured him into drinking tonight, because the warmth coaxing through him was the only thing stopping him from shoving the blonde away. And maybe, but only a little bit, he liked the heat radiating off the boy on top of him, the feeling of his breath on the crook of his neck, the sharp canines that grazed his skin whenever Shidou leaned in too close—

What the fuck? What the actual fuck was he thinking right now. Was it tequila? Who the hell gave him tequila?—it had to have been Aiku. It had to be.

Fuck, he could barely maintain a train of thought. At least he was fairing a hell of a lot better than Shidou was.

He still, even after a few minutes of feeling the cool air, wouldn’t ever consider Shidou’s words basic Japanese. How the fuck was he supposed to get answers as to why Shidou was crowding him into a wall with the blonde in such a state.

Now, don’t get him wrong. Sae’s an incredibly strong guy. He’s won bar fights back in Spain against dudes who had almost half a foot on him despite him being a hell of a lot drunker than they were. He doesn’t spend, like, three quarters of the time he isn’t training for the next match in the gym for nothing.

The match against Blue Lock just last week, when he flipped Shidou up and off his back in a single fucking motion with barely any struggle? Proves his point.

That being said, he really doesn’t think that he’d be able to get Shidou off of him right now. He totally, totally couldn’t. Not when the soft giggles he was sighing every few seconds were making Sae’s heart clench in such a weird way (he's totally gotta get that checked out soon), and when he grabbed Sae’s hand and started to trace hearts into it while laughing?

Fuck, he’s just totally making excuses, isn’t he? That’s gonna be a problem for sober Sae, though.

“Shidou—hic—what are you doing? ”

After a few more minutes of practically laying atop the other, Shidou let out a final, satisfied giggle and stepped back, releasing Sae into the open, freezing air, isolating him to deal with the struggles of hissing wind against his face and overly-chapped lips on his own.

“Sae-channn… I’m so cold, you gotta warm me up!” He giggled again, and Sae's muddled mind had to make a conscious effort not to smile at the sound. He tried to remember if he thought about Shidou like this while sober, and halfway through, he gave up. He rolled his eyes.

“Lets go inside then, dumbass. I don’t… I don’t even know why you brought us out here in the first place.”

Then, right on cue, Shidou then fell forward onto Sae for the second time, forcing more of his weight onto Sae’s back and successfully caging him into the wall.

Sae had had enough of Shidou’s bullshit—there was no way he would be able to take another ten minutes of hearing an infant's first words being spurted in his ear.

Sae grunted, projecting his frustration, “Lets go demonget the hell off of me—”

It appeared that the genius hadn’t noticed Shidou’s wandering hands until it was too late. Sae literally paused, part in shock at Shidou’s sheer audacity, and a small bit of something else that he refused to admit to himself. Warm fingers slipped underneath the expensive cotton of Sae’s white button down to grip the skin of his hip, clasped dangerously close to where his hip met his belt.

What the fuck—

“Demon…”

Sae, in shame and mortification that he wasn’t reaching out to stop Shidou, he tilted his head downward to observe the stark contrast between their skin tones. His body acted without his permission—Sae had the fleeting thought they complimented each other well, placing his palm atop Shidou’s, hearing the blonde let out a sigh at the contact.

What the fuck were they doing—

Sae was shocked that it was really Shidou who was touching him like this, with a hand that possessed such care and gentleness despite being known only for its violence by everyone. The genius stilled in shock with the realization that he might actually want this, and another growing sensation that he really didn’t want to name, until Sae he had the sudden realization that he had never been touched so softly before. Especially not like this; a sudden wave of goosebumps crawling up his spine from the repeated contact caress of his demon.

Shidou must’ve got the hint that he actually liked what he was doing (Sae wasn’t even close to looking like he was going to push him away), and let his true, unabashed self shine through.

“You’ve always… you’ve been drivin’ me fuckin’ crazy, genius…” Shidou’s grip on him tightened. “Ya know that? You gotta… you gotta have fuckin’ realized it now. Ya know how… fuckin’ insane you make me when you pass to everybody else but me? You’re so cruel, Sae-chan…” He pushed his head up and off of Sae’s neck and pushed himself against his ear, letting Sae listen to the stuttered breathing of the man above him, showing to him, proving to him, the effect that Sae had on his demon.

Oh, fuck.

Oh fuck, fuck, fuck. This was bad, this was really, terribly, bad. Sae was about to get himself in a situation he wasn’t sure he would be able to get himself out of, depending on Shidou’s next words. God, all that playfulness and laughter that Shidou had been teasing the genius with had completely thrown itself out the window; that couldn’t have been more obvious to the both of them.

But shit, Sae was desperate to get even a sliver of control—to take back the reins of whatever situation they had gotten themselves into. He didn’t know if he’d be able to control what he did next, or what Shidou did next, otherwise. The air around them was getting hotter by the second. Sae knew Shidou was so fucking weak when it came to him, the things that he’d do to get even the slightest bit of the genius’ affection.

Sae turned his head back towards the blonde, slightly, slowly enough for Shidou to get the hint to stand up to his full height and away from Sae. He finally made eye contact with him, and the desperation that emanated back at him almost made him smirk. Almost. He couldn’t let Shidou see how much he was really enjoying this. He leaned his head back, dipping himself into Shidou’s shoulder, reveling in the noticeable hitch in the blonde's breath.

Fuck, why was he even doing this? Anybody could see them—people sitting in their cars and all of the cameras that scattered the lot. But god, why did that add to his excitement?

Why did that make it so fucking hot?

A shiver ran down Sae's spine at the thought, and he could tell Shidou felt it too if his stuttered sigh was anything to go by.

He grabbed the wrist of the hand that was still holding the bone of his hip and slowly, agonizingly slowly, ran his palm up Shidou’s arm until he was holding the nape of the blonde’s neck in his palm. He felt a wave of satisfaction flood him in feeling the drops of sweat that collected there, despite the chilling winds that circled them.

Sae opened his mouth right as Shidou wrapped a second hand around his abdomen, holding him in place.

“Would you let anybody else do this to me? Touch me like this?” Sae wondered aloud, pleased more than he’d like to admit when Shidou shoved his head into his neck and let out two breathy nobody’s and an only me, you’re mine, Sae-chan.

“That’s right, good demon. I matter to you, don’t I? You’re obsessed with me?”

“Fucking—yeah, of course. I’m think I’m fucking addicted to you, Sae-chan” Shidou breathed, eyebrows molding together, pupils blown wide, and Sae felt the exact moment Shidou’s hands began to clench against him.

“You think? Or you know?” Sae’s naturally intimidating nature, normally, is completely ineffective in warding off Shidou’s clingyness—the boy got accepted into Blue Lock from picking fights on the streets, after all. Maybe it was the alcohol, or maybe he was truly falling under Sae’s spell, but the demon found that Sae’s eyes now held all the power in the world, possessing complete unrivaled authority—like just a word could make even the world’s most powerful man fall to his knees.

“Does that mean you’ll listen to everything I say?” Sae hummed.

“Yes, yes, Sae-chan.” Fuck, fuck, it was all getting too much, too hot. The air around them felt intoxicating to Shidou’s lungs—he surrendered his head down to Sae’s shoulder with a shudder and a sigh.

Sae almost felt bad for him, almost.

“Okay, so you’ll have no problem going back inside with the others. I’m going home.”

Sae felt every part of Shidou still at his words—the action not helping Sae’s predicament. He was already looking away from Shidou, smiling so hard his face hurt, and when Shidou’ soft and very sad sounding, what? came from behind, Sae knew he had lost.

He slumped down onto the ground and looked up at Shidou with an expression full of exhilaration. Sae rolled onto his side and fell into a fit of laugher—the type of laughter where he could barely breathe because Shidou looked so goddamn stupid staring down at him sadly, but more so confusion at Sae’s uncharacteristic antics, frowning down at the boy who found himself wheezing with tears in his eyes.

“You’re so fucking mean, Sae-chan.” Shidou looked like he was trying his damndest to not burst into laugher himself, clearly a little embarrassed at his exposed vulnerability, which was a little cute to see on the blonde, because when did Shidou fucking Ryuusei ever feel embarrased. Sae would be surprised if he even thought at all.

Sae looked up at the blonde and tried really hard to seem drunker than he actually was, and challenged, “Maybe next time we can see if you’re actually worth my time.”
