Ghost Hunting

Summary:

It's important that Matt and Alex check to make sure they're the only performers in the theater, but sometimes Alex doesn't feel like actually saying hi.

“Matt? Was that you?”

“What? No. I’m over here.”

The back rooms of the theater were shrouded and shadow outside of the thin stream of clarity that their shitty flashlight was providing. It made it incredibly difficult to navigate around walls of old costumes, extra chairs that had been removed for their show, and what might have been sets or pieces of the walls someone had never put back. Still, this was Alex’s favorite part of performing somewhere different every time he stopped in the same city that he had already performed in.

“Somebody just touched my shoulder,” Alex turned around to look into the inky blackness behind him.

“Maybe it was a mannequin come to life or something,” Matt teased. Having been raised by doctors, Matt was the skeptic out of the two of them. He was open to anything if it could be proven by science, which was the reason they had a little carry on bag full of all their ghost hunting technologies. All of which they had not yet procured from the bag, mostly because Alex could already feel the hairs on the back of his neck begin to rise with anxiety.

“Don’t joke about that,” Alex hissed.

“Baby, you cannot be serious. Shit like that physically cannot happen,” Matt rolled his eyes affectionately at Alex. He reached out to him and caught his elbow, bringing him in close enough that he was able to wrap an arm around Alex and keep him close.

“As far as you know. You’re not a god, you can’t know everything,” Alex grumbled against him. He still melted into the warmth of his boyfriend’s body despite the resistance that he had put up with stumbling over in the first place.

“I’m pretty damn close to a god though, got you screaming my name every night,” Matt clicked his tongue and winked in the dim light.

Alex opened his mouth to give a retort when he heard something crashing further down in the dark halls of the theater. “Nope. No, no, we are not fucking doing this. I want me, Alex, to be performing tonight instead of whatever demon has been back here for god know show long.”

“Alex, it’s probably a racoon or an earthquake or shitty pipes or a truck or something!” Matt insisted as he took a step towards the noise. Having none of his blond boyfriend’s white-boy-in-a-horror-movie antics, grabbed hold of the other man’s arm and began to march him out of the back of the theater. Neither of them was going to get killed by a ghost, they could resume their little preshow exploration at the next theater that didn’t give him the heebie-jeebies.
