“Sorry, I already made plans with Tori for that. You wouldn’t want to cross her!”
“No way, I value my life,” Nick shuddered.
Charlie shoved him playfully. Then he got serious and looked deeply into Nick’s eyes. “Seriously though. Thank you. For everything. All the things you do, the proposals and now this - just, thank you.”
“You’re welcome,” Nick replied softly, stroking Charlie’s cheek. “Thank you for letting me do those things for you.”
“Why are you so happy about that?” Charlie asked, snuggling into Nick.
“Because you matter to me.”
“But not enough to kill my mum?”
“Watch it!”
