Chapter Text
knock, knock, knock
you hear the three characteristic slow knocks on your front door, at least this time they aren't on the window next to your bed.
you suddenly sit up from your comfortable bed, awoken from your peaceful sleep and look towards the door.
you know its him, the knocker. who else could it be? its midnight in the middle of the forest.. not even remotely close to the village.
you slowly get up and grab your sword that's been sitting on the side of the bed leaning onto your bedside drawer.
cautiously, you begin walking towards the window by the door, peeking through the curtain, you see him.
he's standing there, right outside your door with that smug grin on his face like always.
you look a little bit lower and there it was, that axe he's attempted killing you with multiple times- and sometimes succeeded .
he turns to face towards the window, he knows you're there, his smile only growing wider..
then he disappears into thin air, leaving only smoke and dust where he stood, it quickly getting blown away by the strong wind.
it was winter after all, you're grateful it isn't snowing..yet. otherwise your crops and animals would probably die.
not him though, he never goes away. no matter the weather, no matter how many damn torches you put down near your house.
no, he wasn't an ordinary "mob" or monster. he was different.
he was smart enough to speak and write. he was humanoid enough to where he sometimes looked.. normal?
you wouldn't call it normal. not with skin as pale as his, not with speed as fast as this, not with blood as pitch black.
morning eventually comes.
you've been laying on your bed, clutching your sword with both you hands, eyes shut but not sleeping, listening to your surroundings, not sensing his presence but still afraid.
once you realise the sun has come up, you get up, put down your sword and go towards the kitchen.
after so many hours awake your hunger feels intense.
rubbing your eyes and yawning, you open the fridge, eggs and bacon will do!
after eating you decide its time to go take a shower.
you enter the bathroom, turn on the warm water, and begin taking your shower.
little do you know you couldn't hear the front door being forced open by none other than the man from your nightmares.
you finish your shower and grab your towel, going downstairs towards your bedroom to grab your clothes.
passing by the kitchen you notice the fridge is slightly open.
terrified you slowly walk towards it. you know you didn't leave it open. you never do, you've made that mistake before, all your food went bad.
hesitantly you eventually open it, inside you notice something's missing. milk. in its place was a small piece of paper. a note, by him.
"eaten cows before. didn't know to how to milk them, thank you!" it read
how stupid of you to think your cow just 'escaped' one day.
was that really what he was eating? i mean, yes, he lived in the forest, most likely homeless, probably doesn't know how to cook food on his own.
is that why he keeps breaking in when you're away and steals your food?
"poor guy.." you think
wait, no, not 'poor guy' he tries to kill you! you don't feel bad for your stalker slash trespasser slash murderer...
you crumple up the note and throw it in the trash.
you need to get dressed and make sure he left.
once you do that, its time for a long day of work.
at last the sun is setting, moon is rising, night is falling over your house.
you double- no, triple check the locked doors and windows. he won't get in tonight.
"its time to finally rest" you think
knock, knock, knock
he's outside the window right behind you.
you turn around as fast as humanly possible, he's not there anymore!?
you decide its time to take care of it. you won't let him steal your precious sleep any longer... or your life.
you grab your sword once again and unlock the door, running outside.
circling the house while occasionally looking behind you, you realise he's left. poof! gone again, like the wind.
you sigh and walk back to your front door. once you get inside and lock it again, you turn around lazily ready to head to your bed.
he was gone for the night. he never appears twice, you've noticed.
but as soon as you turned, there he was, standing in front of you. tall and menacing. the smile that stretches to his ears as always.
before you can scream, he swings the axe.
you wake up on your bed. its morning. you respawned...
this day determined to show him you're not as stupid as he's made you look.
you set up a trap. string, redstone, dispenser, arrows. simple but will hopefully do.
you do your daily chores, making sure to step over the trap every time you leave or enter the house
"maybe tomorrow i'll go to the village!" you think. "i need more supplies"
until finally night comes around once again.
knock knock knock
at the back door.
silly you! you put the trap on the front door! and he knew. he probably saw you.
iron sword in hand you walk towards the window.
right there, with blood on his face, hands and axe he stands.
he killed somebody else? you hope it isn't the people from the neighbouring village.
you walk backwards, not exactly in front of the back door but near it.
he lifts his axe behind his head and swings at the door. shit. you have to fix it tomorrow.
once he made a big enough hole on the door he puts his hand through and unlocks it.
the second he takes his first step inside the house...
an arrow shoots through his heart.
you weren't that stupid. you proved him wrong.
"hgh-wha..." he tried to speak.
his voice low and raspy, its the first time you heard it in so long. last time he spoke to you was when he was hiding under your bed to scare you a few months ago.
first time was when you two met.
"you shouldn't open the door to strangers." he said, right before slashing your throat with his knife.
but in the present? you've won. you did it. he's dead and gone.
"fucking finally" you mutter right after he falls limp to the floor. his dark blood pooling beneath him.
it was over.
