Work Text:

Technoblade sat in front of a crackling fire and tried to focus on his book, snow thudded against the shutters and he'd had to add additional blankets to Carl's stable to account for the inclement weather. The poetry in front of him was slippery, words sliding off the page and sloshing around his brain like water. It wasn't a good day for focusing; he wanted to be doing something with his hands. Unfortunately, everything was done, the chests were organized, his armor had been cleaned and polished, his weapons sharpened. The wind howled, it sounded like his dogs, but he knew it wasn't, they were well trained and hunkered down in their kennels. He'd have to dig them out tomorrow, or whenever the snow let up. Carl was stabled, his foxes and bears snug in their dens. He was warm and comfortable and he should really just be enjoying the day off.

He refocused on his book, he wanted to finish this, it was good, objectively.

There was a crack and a crash from the second floor.

Techno looked up, staring over the top of his glasses and waited for confirmation that this was an accident, or for the groan of pain that would indicate he should go rescue Phil from whatever disaster had befallen them. There was a laugh, disjointed and out of body, then a clatter and Phil dropped down the ground floor. His robes were disheveled, pooling seductively around a pale, scarred shoulder. His customary hat sat askew on his head, the veil pulled down to cover his eyes despite the fact that they were inside and there was no one to see death in his soul fire blue eyes.

Techno looked over his husband and closed his book, setting it on the side table and folding his glasses on top.

"You picked a terrible day to visit, we're snowed in."

Kristin laughed, parted the veil with a slow hand and purple eyes stared out where he would usually have found Phil's blue. It wasn't everyday the goddess of death came around for tea. He got up and wandered into the kitchen, pulled out their battered copper kettle and filled it with water, he set it in the coals and pulled out a dried block of tea. They had biscuits somewhere, the hard kind with dried fruit that Phil liked to make, and a softer cakey kind that Niki had left in her last visit. He'd been hoping to save those for himself, they were lemon scented and a little spiced, but Kristin was here and he liked spoiling his guests.

"You're ruining the surprise," Kristin followed him into the kitchen, settled against the counter and eyed the tea set up. Techno went to retrieve a bottle of melon wine, the sort that Kristin liked and added it to the tray he was putting together.

"Surprise?" He asked, setting biscuits and pouring hot water into the teapot.

"We've been working on something," she leaned over and snagged one of the soft biscuits, licking icing off of her fingers as she nibbled at the edge and then bit down. Techno tracked the action, eyes fixing on Phil's lips which quirked in a not very Phil like way. "Phil mentioned you've been stressed, I wanted to help."

"I'm so not stressed," Techno's tail betrayed him, twitching as he turned to move them into the living room. This had to be why he hadn't seen Phil all morning, he usually mentioned if he was trading places, letting the goddess of death slide in where he usually resided. He got to talk to her often, Techno spent less time with their shared wife, but he didn't mind. Jealousy would have implied that he thought Phil had something he didn't, and Kristin shared her affection in different ways. Phil was her Angel, and she let Techno stay with him for as long as he lived. "The picture of calm and tranquility."

Kristin picked up his discarded book, looked it over with disinterest and went for a teacup full of melon wine, sipping on it.

"Can we show you, now?" She asked, looking at him over long blonde lashes. "Phil was so excited."

"I'm ready," Techno sat down at the table and chuffed, confused, but not unhappy as Kristin slid into his lap. "This is exciting."

"Yeah, mate?" Phil blinked up at him, blue eyes and a sharp toothed grin. "Just you wait."

He leaned in and kissed him. Kristin laughed in his ears; maybe this snowstorm wouldn't be so bad.
