Chapter Text
It was another day at Kamome academy. And today, Yashiro was really REALLY not wanting to clean the bathroom. Well, she usually DIDN’T, but especially today—she didn’t want to. If anything, she wanted to crawl into a hole and die.
It all started when she had woken up this morning, hoping to prepare for school only for her stomach to ache terribly. She had initially wondered if she perhaps ate something that upset her digestive organs, but all theories were put to rest when she saw the small puddle of red that colored her bedsheet. Then, disappointingly, it all made sense.
She was on her period.
Sure, this absolutely wasn’t her first time having one, but no matter how many times it happened, it was never more easy for her to deal with. If anything, she was willing to argue that they’d somehow get slightly worse each time.
Fortunately, her cramps would soften around the fourth or fifth day, but that still meant another three-four days of abdominal pain, feeling uncomfortable, going through mood swings, etc. She just hoped no entities of the sort had any plans to further complicate her next 90ish hours of suffering.
The first day of her red moon was always the worst. That was when her body would go into overdrive and decide to punish her for the perceived sin of not carrying a child while she was merely a student. The cramps could get awful, and it would often feel like someone took a fork and twirled her insides like spaghetti. It was moments like this where she’d temporarily wish she wasn’t of the female gender.
The whole school day, she had her head resting on her desk, making a book stand up to cover her pained expressions whilst she had a notebook beside her—accompanied by a pink pen so she could feign the appearance of writing notes during class. She was nowhere close to the end of the school day, yet believed it was best to at least be positive to make the pain slightly less unbearable.
Just a few more hours, she thought. Just a few more hours and I can go home.
Hakujoudai had been following her for the majority of the school day, as Hanako often assigned them to do. So it was no doubt that the levitating ivory sphere had informed Hanako of her seeming discomfort. She may or may not have silently murmured about how much she hated her unwelcome once-a-month visitor, but she wasn’t sure if it heard her or not.
Yashiro wasn’t planning on being too elaborative with Hanako about what was going on. Considering his insistence on her cleaning the bathroom everyday, she feared that he’d only believe she was making an excuse. It only made sense to her since one of her own (male) teachers had done the same to her—saying she was lying and simply just wasn’t paying attention in class. Besides, as far as she knew, there could’ve been a girl in her class on her period as well, but they weren’t making a fuss about it.
Not wanting to overreact, draw attention, or simply be blamed for doing so, Yashiro planned to keep quiet about the agony her body was inflicting on her. So she forced herself to stand up straight, motivating herself with the prospect of eventually being able to return home—already thinking of all the snacks she’d feast on while she cried to a predictable rom-com.
While she was wallowing in her monthly affliction, Hakujoudai had briefly left her alone and returned to Hanako, who was in the third-story bathroom as usual.
He simply rested his eyes when he sensed Hakujoudai in the room, and thus opened them.
“Hakujoudai, you’ve returned already?”
The pale circular supernatural did its own version of nodding, bobbing itself up and down in the air before it did some other motions. Hanako tilted his head and he interpreted what Hakujoudai was telling him. Soon, Hanako took his turn in nodding, a serious expression shaping his face.
“I see. Thanks for informing me. I’ll see to it that the problem’s taken care of.”
Then, with a snap of his fingers, he called for the mokke. Almost instantly, a few of them arrived, more and more of them coming into the room than the last pair until enough of them had entered. He clapped his hands together, catching all of their attention.
“Thank you all for coming. I have a major assignment for you all to do. Now, listen carefully.”
