Work Text:
Yoongi’s biggest fear was to disappoint people. He tried to live with it, of course. He worked his ass off and stayed up until the sun rose quietly outside his window, his numb fingers no longer working against the keyboard after 8 hours of angry tapping. At 6 in the morning, nothing sounded good anymore. The bass lines were messed up, the chord progression was chaos and his mind could no longer tell the difference between the colorful bars on the screen. He put his headphones away with a sigh, knowing that he fucked up his (non-existent) sleeping schedule and his song by doing this again. He dragged himself out of his office, nearly crawled down the corridor to his room, and suddenly his Universe shifted.
It was almost a ritual by now. Yoongi would drown himself in his dark thoughts until the moment he saw the boy sleeping peacefully in his bed. Then, his limbs would turn into jelly and he’d slowly climb into bed, welcoming Hoseok’s warmth against his cold and tense bones. Suddenly, he wouldn’t need to prove anything to anyone. He was enough, he was valid, he wasn’t a machine made to please people’s ears. He was just a boy, buried in his someone’s arms, waiting for his second sun to grace him with his dimpled smile.
“Yoongi?” Hoseok whispered against his neck. His arms tightened around him and Yoongi almost thanked the heavens out loud for his warm skin against his.
“I’m here, Hobi.”
Hoseok’s eyes blinked open. He looked gorgeous like this, disoriented and soft.
“Did you stay up again?” He knew the answer. He always did. Yoongi made the mistake of lying to him once and had to deal with his pout for the next two days. Hoseok didn’t deserve this. He didn’t deserve Hoseok.
“I did. But I’m here now.”
He felt the younger’s hums against his neck and sighed into the pillow. He was just so warm, it was ridiculous. For a second, he thought that maybe he did deserve him. Anyone could see that they were opposite poles meant to be together. Only two different forces could balance each other that well, and Yoongi did just that with his messy, unhealthy and chaotic self. He fit with Hoseok’s organized, logical and clean personality. He was his and only his, he thought, as he pulled Hoseok closer to him, kissing his forehead. Maybe they were a good pair.
Yeah. He was good.
