Kymara chewed anxiously at the inside of her cheek flicking from page to page searching through Infinity's database for anything that could help them. They got Jacob. Fuck. part of her was pissed at Dadi for what she had done but she knew it would have been awful if they'd all been caught. Still didn't make her feel any better.
Pushing the thought away she continued looking until she clicked on a file and grinned. Jackpot. These were the implanted kid's files, God there were so many... She needed to hurry, Kymara had no doubts that Infinity Group had protective measures in place. Speeding through she located Kal and 'Dru's' pages and scanned over them. Jesus they were controlling everything. No wonder Kal had been acting like suck a dick.
Empathy was at the bottom, out of sight and turned all the way down. Typical. She didn't want to make too much of a difference and have them notice, quickly she turned the empathy up to the max. Hopefully that helped Dru out. And hopefully Kal wasn't too pissed about her messing with his head.
Dru panted as he dove into the darkness of the tunnels, pulling the radio parts from his pocket as he did so. He'd never seen that look on Kal's face before. It freaked him out, he needed to fix this. He ducked behind a pillar desperately fiddling with the wires and trying to start the damn thing up.
"Dru! I know you're in there!" Kal's hollow voices echoed throughout the tunnel. Fuck. Almost out of time.
"Kal, whatever part of you that's listening, please, it's me, Dru." He pleaded hoping the tunnels would help block the Implant's influence.
Dead silence.
"The Implant's weaker down here. You're stronger than they are. You're better than they are." He tried.
He dropped the gadget in his panic, it cracked slightly. Shit. Well, he sure hoped he could break through to Kal, he'd hate for his twin to wake up knowing he'd killed his brother.
"You'd never hurt me. We're connected. You know that. We always have been." That was true, and Kal did know that. But he's not sure how much of Kal was left. And he still hadn't replied.
"You saved my life remember? When we were ten you woke up in the middle of the night calling my name. I wasn't in my bed. Everybody started running around like looking crazy for me but you went straight outside. I was sleepwalking. About to step into the traffic. Kal, Mum said when they woke me up I just said 'thanks Kal.'
"See? We're connected." He stepped out from his hiding place facing his twin.
"We're not just brothers. We're twins. Kal, I can't do this without you man. I can't take on Ainsworth without your help. I need you."
Kal started walking towards him no change in his expression. Well shit. This is how he died.
"Kal, it's me. Please!"
Kal stepped forwards and grabbed him slamming him into a nearest wall he grunted, pain shooting up his back. He tried to push back but he really wasn't a match to his brother jacked up on the Implants.
Suddenly Kal's grip loosened, he pulled back gripping his head and groaning eyes flashing grey like they were installing a new update. Shit.
"Kal? Are you okay?" Dru asked coming to his side. Despite his brother turning into violent sociopath he still didn't like seeing him hurt.
Kal looked up with him with wide eyes. "I hurt you."
"Well, yeah but it wasn't you, it was the implants dude. I'm just glad you're... back. I think. How are you feeling?"
"I hurt you. I'm meant to keep you safe. But I hurt you. And Amir and-"
"Hey calm down, that wasn't really you. It's okay. I'm all good. What I'm asking is whether or not you're okay."
"Someone's altered my empathy level."
"It's so freaky they can mess with that. Looks let's hurry before they change it back kay?"
"Kay."
"Hey, I mean it. Don't sweat what you did, it's not like you were the one in control."
"Okay." Kal mumbled.
