Miyano tried to stand up but to no avail, the pain was one she had not felt before, and moving only made her nauseous, she decided to sleep a little longer, it was Saturday anyway, and her plans with Sasaki were in the afternoon, as she had to finish a project for college with her group that morning.
For all the gender identity crisis she had due to her androgynous face and people describing her as a tomboy, the one thing that assured her that she was undoubtedly a girl, and not a boy, was the thing she hated the most. It felt even worse as someone who was dating another girl too because, unlike Kuresawa who said it will at least help her know she’s not pregnant later in life; it’s not like her partner could get her pregnant.
It was quite rare for her to be this much in pain during her period, usually she only got weird cravings and some mood changes, and it was her girlfriend the one that had to use heaters and take pain pills to get through the first couple of days, so Miyano was definitely unprepared to deal with this suddenly too painful time of the month so a nap was all she could think of to be better for her date.
The scare of a nightmare suddenly woke her up, and she suddenly sat up only to realize that the pain had not left her, so she groaned while she curled up in a little ball and decided to cancel her plans with her girlfriend, since she wouldn’t be too fun to be around that day, when suddenly…
“Yumi? Is everything ok?” said a very worried voice.
Miyano immediately turned her head only to see her beautiful girlfriend sitting on the floor next to her bed with one of her mangas in her hand.
“Shuuko? What are you doing here?” she asked confused “Wait, what time is it?”
“It’s 2:00 p.m.” answered Sasaki
Miyano’s face fell “Shuu… I… I am SO sorry, I just…” her eyes started to water.
Sasaki stood up to reach out for her girlfriend to hold her “It’s ok Yumi” she comforted her “Don’t worry about it, I’m fine.” She gave her a quick kiss on her forehead while she wiped her tears “Honestly, when I noticed you hadn’t texted all day I remembered you have your period 3 days before me, so I texted your mom instead to see if you were home, and she told me that yes and said I could come.”
“I just…” kept crying her small girlfriend “I don’t know why it hurts so bad Shuuko, usually I barely have any pain, but today it hurt… it hurt so much.”
Sasaki held her tighter, gave her a kiss on her right cheek, then her left cheek and finally a peck on the lips, she smiled at her and said “I got you”, then she kneeled down to grab her purse, she rummaged through it until she found what she was looking for, she got out a blister pack of some pink pills, then a couple of heaters, some wasabi flavored chips, and a dark liquored chocolate, she paused her rummaging to look at her and asked “Is it just the womb or does anything else hurt? Head? Back? Legs?”
“The head a little” whispered Miyano.
Then Sasaki got out something that looked like a weird headband, a couple of Pocaris and finally her laptop. Then she sat on the bed next to Miyano, she first gave her two of the pills and one of the Pocari to swallow them, she left the rest of the blister on the night table and said “You can take another one in 8 hours, usually one does the trick the second time you take them, but when the pain is too much you can have two.” Then she gave her the heater and explained “For this one, you’ll stick it in your underwear in the part that touches where it hurts, then it just heats up by itself.” Then she turned around to give her some privacy.
She could hear some shuffling until finally Miyano said between sniffles “Ok, it’s on.”
After that Sasaki grabbed the weird headband and pushed a small button it had and as she put it on Miyano’s head explained “This is one cools off, that and the pressure it does wonders for headaches Miya, trust me.”
Miyano chuckled a bit already feeling better, as her girlfriend completely pampered her “I love you so much Shuuko.”
Sasaki blushed at the sudden display of affection, then she hugged Miyano tight again, she let go to hold her face with her hands so they could be eye to eye, and said, “I love you too, my perfect, beautiful girlfriend.”
Miyano leaned into the touch already feeling better and nuzzled her cheek into Sasaki’s hand. “I’m sorry we couldn’t go to the movies, I know you really wanted to watch that movie.”
“Miya” said Sasaki, “What I really wanted, was to be with you, I don’t care where we’re at.”
Miyano thanked internally for the cooling headband as her cheeks got so red she felt her face was on fire.
Sasaki continued her mission of comforting her girlfriend, she kneeled again to plug in her laptop charger, grabbed the snacks she brought her girlfriend (and a lollipop she’d bought for herself), then she took the space in bed at her side and started browsing for a movie from their watchlist.
Miyano starred at her for a moment then asked “You know I’m curious, how did you know I was gonna be in pain? Usually, I only have the cravings and cry a lot.”
Sasaki chuckled and answered “I didn’t, mine’s in 3 days, and I often prepare these things 5 days before to avoid any issues in case it comes earlier. I mean, I always have pads in case you need them, but these other things, only the week off. The snacks I did get them on my way here.”
Miyano’s eyes started to water again “Shuu… you gave me YOUR period kit?”
Sasaki turned to look at her and held her tight again and started to pepper her face with sweet kisses until there were no more tears, then a small mischievous grin reached her face and she said “I mean, I could have tried a more hands on pain relief method, but I figured we could try that when your mom is not on the other room.”
Miyano turned to look at her confused and said “A more hands on pain relief? What are you…?” then it dawned on her and with a sudden shocked face almost yelled “OH MY… GOD… SASAKI SHUUKO… WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU SAYING?”
Sasaki just burst out laughing while her girlfriend tried to wiggle herself out of her arms.
“You are aware I am currently bleeding there, right?” She said indignantly.
Sasaki continued laughing until she was able to calm herself down to say between chuckles “Miya, I was just kidding now.” Then she paused for a moment faced her girlfriend, smiled at her and said more calmly “but trust me I am not kidding when I say this Yumi, I absolutely will not ever care about that, whether it’s because you want to reduce the pain, or simply because you feel like it and that’s what you want at the moment, it’s not a dealbreaker for me, because it’s with you and anything with you is amazing.”
Miyano’s head got incredibly red and she grabbed at the sides of her girlfriend’s shirt while she lowered her head and mumbled “I s’ppose I wouldn’t mind that much either” it was barely a whisper.
“What was that my adorable Yumi?” asked her girlfriend teasingly.
Miyano placed her hands on her face, then groaned and lowered her hands to look at her girlfriend’s face and say, “It wouldn’t be a dealbreaker for me either Shuu.”
Sasaki felt on cloud nine, she hugged her girlfriend again, while she tried to pull her away from embarrassment, and then they reaccommodated themselves so they could cuddle and place the laptop between them so they could watch a movie.
As she opened her wasabi chips an idea crossed Miyano’s mind to tease her girlfriend too, she ate a couple of chips, making sure some of the wasabi powder stayed on her lips, and then she suddenly grabbed Sasaki’s face to kiss her.
At first the shock from the sudden kiss left Sasaki paralyzed, but then as she started to taste the wasabi powder she pulled away and started to fan her mouth “Shpicy, shpicy, shpicy” she said while sticking her tongue out.
Miyano started laughing and said, “I thought you said as long as it was with me you didn’t mind.”
“You know that’s just evil Miya” said Sasaki half pouting, half happy her girlfriend is in a better mood.
“I’m sorry Senpai” answered Miyano while handing her the rest of the Pocari, then as Sasaki was drinking that, she checked one of her purses and got something out.
“Yeah, this is not helping much” said Sasaki amused “that was really spicy Yumi”
Then Miyano took the wrapper out of a sweet milk candy she had bought for Sasaki so she could try it, and popped it in her mouth, then with a smile simply said, “I got you”.
