Wandering thoughts…

Summary:

The former Sage of Truth, once bright and brilliant…now hidden away within some drab tower. Who’s only companion…is the very one keeping him there. What a lovely predicament…a promise to learn all there was to learn, to keep his students safe, at the expense of his sorry state. He was no Sage…not anymore.

(I don’t know how to summarize)

Reading…writing…transcribing.

It’s always the same pattern. No matter the truth…no matter the lies. Time has passed…and yet I can’t sleep. Too many thoughts, too much left untold.

The Souljam has been quiet…dulled possibly. At least, if I recall correctly, it had lost its color when Truthless took and placed it within the lock…

How pointless, to gain all there is to know…and to keep it withheld. To keep me withheld…Witches I couldn’t find the exit if I tried…

Just some Cookie…no, he was truth. Forbidden, yet truth nonetheless. The greatest secret to withhold…the very ex-virtue of knowledge! Seeking more knowledge…and yet nothing felt…right. There was no need to understand, no need to comprehend or teach…it was mindless nonsense that kept him busy.

His host…the Recluse, had been…odd. Quiet yet demanding, the only time he wasn’t bothered was when he was reading…hidden deep within the library of this Spire. The only peace he got since that dip into the vanilla lake. To have not known of this land…this place. Just how much had he missed during his years as the Fount? How terrible had he truly been…?

…It didn’t matter. There was no changing the past, no returning to those times. He hadn’t found anything new in a while…just rereading old scribes and tombs…there was a ridiculous amount of healing magic to look at. Hilarious, as he hadn’t seen the Recluse use such at all during his stay…

What does it matter…a few more books wouldn’t kill him. Nor would Truthless bother him. He was too busy doing…whatever he did to pass time. Perhaps he was down by the villages near the bottom of the peak…drab things, far behind yet far ahead in their technological progress. Mechanically adapted to things magic could fix in an instant. Yet anytime he tried to help, to teach them something! He was just locked within the Spire again…his “privileges” taken for trying to spread his truths. He had only tried to help.

Sigh

Perhaps another walk around the Spire might clear his mind. He was going to start loosing what was left of his sanity if he stayed in the library any longer…

The spire’s flooring was almost completely brick or tile…He couldn’t get anywhere without being heard at this point. There wasn’t a point in floating either…not when it always made him tired so much faster than it had once…

____________

Slumping onto a patch of biscuit stone that broke into a field of grass…flocks of cream sheep and wolves wandering around the plains. It was mockingly peaceful…yet a place he could drift off into thought without much effort. The wind barely sent a chill through him, the sounds of animals passing with the occasional blueberry birds or Raisin Crows trying to peck at him. They left him alone once he gave them something to eat…they were easy to bribe and kept that Raisin cookie unaware of his location for long enough…

Something Raisin Cookie and Custard Cookie…two decibels, understudies perhaps…of Truthless Recluse. At least they behaved liked it. They had some similarities to a few of his old students…though their differences shined through as well. Raisin Cookie kept tabs on him…even when she thought he was asleep, she’d try to keep track of where he was at all times. Skeptical perhaps…trust issues definitely. That Custard Cookie…he was childish. Perhaps he was one, his vision had been falling short, along with his patience…

They seemed to act like siblings at the very least. Older and younger, defensive and curious. Custard Cookie at least didn’t try to hide that he was watching…always trying to get him to pay attention to him. He mimicked the Recluse…idolized him practically…yet fell short when trying to completely follow him in terms of personality. He would have been interesting to teach once upon a time…now he was just a headache waiting to happen.

Nonetheless…the more he stayed within his thoughts, the more he drifted. Sleep…he had never been a fan of such a needless thing. His dough was designed to go without…but he found it useful. He could pass the time and not have to exist within the walls of this Spire…he would…be up before the Recluse returned…
