“Do you know what?” Jakob asks.
“What?” Kevin’s often afraid of the answer.
“Big Richard’s never had a sauna!”
“So, Big Richard’s coming with-?”
“NO!” It’s Axel, from the next room. He near storms in, finger wagging between Kevin and Jakob, “That THING is NOT coming with us to the sauna!”
Jakob turns to Kevin, bottom lip wobbling, “He called Big Richard ‘THING’” and he dramatically flops into Kevin’s lap.
He always does, Kevin thinks as he strokes Jakob’s hair and says, “Don’t waste your time crying, you’ve a master plan to come up with!”
Jakob sits up, grin growing as he does, “Kevin!” he shouts then says nothing more.
“Where’s that thing?” Axel asks.
“In the wash,” Kevin replies not making eye contact. Axel raises an eyebrow, but follows Kevin to the car. Before getting in, he rechecks the boot and passenger seats.
He’s still a little suspicious: Jakob’s not left that thing alone since he got it, thus beginning Axel’s endless torture. But he’s checked Jakob’s pockets, even the little one’s staying home.
Smiling to himself as he finally settles into a Big Richard free trip, Axel enters the sauna to see that thing grinning back at him.
