Work Text:

“Holy shit…”. Pomni looked all around her, feeling higher than clouds with an odd sense of calm inside of her. It was never ending bright headache-inducing colors twisting and swirling in the air. Was this really how it felt to abstract? Had she already lost her mind after only a year trapped in this digital hell? As she’s falling into her enteral mental prison, there’s a hand reaching out from above. Purple, it’s Jax. Why is he here? How is he here? Before I could question myself anymore, the hand grabs me and pulls me back to my bedroom in the circus. “Pom-pom please… snap out of it already!”. I open my eyes, slowly regaining consciousness, feeling the warmth of Jax’s arms curled around me. “Jax..?” “Please tell me you’re okay, right?!?” It’s weird looking up at him seeing soft, worried eyes, instead of the usual manic expression that he wears. “Um.. yea. I’m fine. I just had a moment” is all I managed to mumble out before Jax pulled me tighter into a tight hug. “I’m glad.” He whispered. Her breathing is rapid, still recovering from the near-death situation she was just in. It seems as if Jax has noticed, rubbing her back, gradually slowing down her breathing. For once in thr circus, she feels safe, being protected by the arms around her, as she falls deeper into them, Jax and Pomni both laying in her bed. “So… what was yours like?” Jax whispered into her ear. “What does that even mean?” “You know, abstracting?” Pomni looked up into his eyes. Had he really experienced abstraction before? “Well, it was weird. There was bright twisty colors and strange calming music playing in my head” “Yeah, that’s how mine was too. It’s strange, but you’ll get over it eventually”. They laid in bed, cuddling up closer to each other, both of them slowly drifting to sleep, now knowing what death would feel like when the insanity finally grabbed a tight grip on them.
