The Girl From Nowhere

Summary:

Karma is a thing that works tirelessly to do what it deems necessary.

When it doesn't, usually Soyeon and Chan do all the work for it.

Notes:

This is heavily inspired by The Girl From Nowhere and I thought of this so... Here's a product of my overthinking

Chapter 1: Karma

Chapter Text

"And then he... God, he just wouldn't stop! I told him to stop!" Shuhua was shaking as Soyeon comforted her.

"It's going to be alright. I promise you. Karma always catches up to them."

Shuhua nodded. Soyeon never lied. Never.

And she definitely meant what she said about karma.

"He really did that to her?" Chan furrowed his brows, staring intently into his computer screen.

Soyeon leaned over Chan's shoulder, watching him type things in like it was completely normal to stalk teachers. "Yeah, he did. So far I've been able to figure out his full name, hobbies, daughters' whereabouts, and the fact he's married."

The older zoomed in on the photo he had found. "Apparently his wife is a public speaker for awareness campaigns. Poor woman doesn't know her husband is what we should be aware of."

"The school wants to add more programmes. Mr Kang is going to be the leader for one of them. We can request some activities."

"Perfect."

Chan and Soyeon stayed at school, even when the after school programmes ran late.

"Let me help you with that, Mr. Kang." Chan said, picking up a roll of fabric.

"Thank you, Chan. You're such a polite young man."

Soyeon was standing outside. Watching as the predator eyed its prey. Except the predator was Chan.

Mr. Kang was a direct man. He made his wants, his desires, known. Never one for foreplay, he continued talking. "How about you stay behind a bit after cleaning the room up. Just to help with a few things."

"I actually have to catch the next train. I would love to help you any other time, though."

He took a step closer. "The train runs every waking moment of the day, it wouldn't be that bad to be just thirty minutes late."

"I like to be home before sunset." Chan stayed in place, putting things on their rightful shelves while being eyed like a piece of meat.

It didn't take long, for Kang to make his move, reaching for the strings of Chan's hoodie.

"What if we just keep things between you," he pulled Chan closer, "and me."

"This is wrong." Chan said, but his voice never actually panicked. He never once got a look of distress on his face.

"It's just for today, yeah?" Kang started trailing little kisses on Chan's neck, and the boy had to admit he shivered when he started.

But he managed to get the teacher off him. "I said I don't want to."

"You'll beg for my attention soon enough."

Chan simply smiled. It would've been polite, friendly, even, if his eyes didn't have that glint in them. An almost sadistic sparkle that made the room feel dim and heavy and unsafe.

"Someone will beg for mercy, and it's not going to be me."

He exited the room, pocketing the phone he grabbed from the teacher's pocket while he was too distracted to notice. The idiot didn't even have a password on the electronic.

Soyeon put down her camera. "Got him."

Soyeon and Chan were knocking on the door to the house. It was in a nice neighbourhood. It looked especially pretty in the autumn to early winter months.

"Can I help you?" The woman was Mr Kang's wife—Iseul.

Soyeon put on her signature adult-friendly smile. "We're Mr Kang's students. Sir left his phone at school and we just had to bring it back."

"Aren't you two just precious? Come on in, it's cold out and I was making tea anyway."

Everything was working in their favour. Everything always worked in their favour.

"Lia, Jiyeon, come greet our guests! They're your father's students!"

Two little girls came down the stairs. They looked to be in sixth grade. Maybe younger.

"Please," Iseul said, smiling. "Make yourselves comfortable. It isn't often we see kids with good intentions like you two."

Chan smiled bright and big and Soyeon bowed to say thank you.

By the time Kang was home, the first thing he noticed were the two shoes that none of his daughters wore.

"Seokjun, look at your lovely students that came to return your phone." Iseul said, hugging her husband.

"Who are these—" he looked up, eyes locking with Chan and his heart immediately sinking. "Students?"

"Chan and Soyeon. I invited them to stay for dinner. It's getting quite late."

Chan grinned, waving his hand in an overenthusiastic way. "Hi Mr. Kang!"

Soyeon followed suit. Seokjun was clearly scared.

Dinner wasn't all that tense except for the glares that Seokjun kept passing to Chan.

But eventually, Iseul started clearing the table and gave Chan and Soyeon tupperware containers with some of the food she cooked and told them to get home safe.

"You have the videos, right?" Soyeon asked once they reached their apartment.

"Backed up to three clouds."

"Oh my gosh! It's been a while since we got to do anything this fun!"

Soyeon's version of fun may have been morally concerning, but who has the right to stop her from having fun and exposing a rapist?

Nobody.

Today, both of them stayed behind to 'help' Seokjun. The teacher was clearly suspicious, he just couldn't place why he was suspicious.

"What do you want from me?" He eventually asked the two juniors who just shrugged.

Chan bit his lip. "I told you, I'm not going to beg for anything."

Soyeon's smile was unsettling. Almost like marionette that had it permantently painted on her. Never changing. Just getting worse and worse each time you looked. "It's just.. Shuhua is in quite the pickle after what you did to her."

"And we have that happening, can we, Mr. Kang?"

Seokjun scoffed. "Fucking psychos. She's lucky anyone wanted her at all-"

Soyeon put a finger over her lips as if she was shushing a child. "Now, Mr. Kang, we're trying to be polite. Just admit what you did and we'll disappear."

Chan circled him. Predatory. Way to calm. Like any wrong movement would make him lunge and rip out Seokjun's throat. "Public admission. Tell the school you're a pedophile who assaulted a fourteen year old girl."

The teacher shuddered. "You guys are insane. Tell you what, I'll pay you to drop this. How much do you want? A hundred? A thousand. I have cash."

"That's not how it works, unfortunately. It's either you expose yourself or we expose you. And trust me, the latter won't be as easy as admitting you're wrong." Chan said it so matter of factly that Seokjun actually considered it.

"Who are you to force me to do anything?"

Soyeon laughed, her smile getting bigger and more unsettling. "Who are we? Nobody will ask who we are when videos of you attempting to rape a non-consenting minor starts floating around."

"Monday's the deadline. If you don't admit it in the middle of morning assembly, we'll dismantle you. Piece by piece."

Seokjun couldn't answer. The two had left the room so abruptly, so quickly, that he almost thought he was talking to himself.

"Was it recording the entire time?" Chan questioned, looking at the angled camera.

"It was." Soyeon picked it up, reviewing the footage. "This is going to be so much fun."

"And we've come to the conclusion of our morning assembly." The principal said, putting the mic down.

Seokjun still hadn't confessed.

"He thinks we're bluffing." Soyeon rolled her eyes.

"He should know better." Chan crossed his arms.

"Then again, nobody listens to sixteen year olds with threats."

"So we're going to make them listen."

Then they used burner phones to send a video to Shuhua. "Do with these as you please. Karma's a bitch."

And Shuhua did do as she pleased, sharing the video with the school. Before the day's end, Kang was sent home with a suspension from teaching and a criminal investigation starting.

Only two hours later did they email his wife with videos, multiple videos from multiple angles.

Lunch was hectic, as per usual.

"Karma is real, unnie. I told you so." Shuhua said it so happily. So freely.

"Karma?" Soyeon repeated quietly, sparing Chan a glance, and he just raised a brow before looking back down at his phone.

"It is karma, Soyeon! He's finally getting arrested for what he's done to these girls!" Jeongin protested.

Karma didn't exist. But Soyeon and Chan did and they were so, so much worse than karma.

Notes:

This is so becoming a series because it's fun writing stuff that involve taking down corrupt people
Edit(09. 05. 26): lost motivation for other chapters *sigh*
