"Lu Guang?"
Lu Guang peers up from his book to see messy, blonde bangs with strands of black at the back, and sunset orange eyes meeting back at him.
"I'm sorry for bothering you, but I'm wondering if you knew where Xiaoshi is." Xia Fei explained, scratching his neck nervously. "We have a project together, and I can't find him."
Lu Guang gave out a long sigh, closing the book.
"I'll go get him." Lu Guang says, getting up.
"Oh, do you know where he is?"
"I don't know the exact location, but I have a idea."
"Oh thank you!" Xia Fei smiled giving a bow. "Then I'll see you later."
With a wave, the elk went on his merry way, leaving the cat standing there, ready to embark on yet another adventure to find the dog.
"Alright..." Cheng Xiaoshi grinned. His hand brushed against the bricks on the wall, feeling each individual gap, each one making him pause for a brief second before continuing.
His sneakers took small steps inside large ones as he slid across the ground, the sounds muffled by the grass.
The wind blew through his black hair– hindering his sight for a few moments– the breeze flowed through him with chilly intention, his jacket swaying along.
Peeking out from the wall, there's no students around, most already in class, except for the few that decided to skip, himself included.
He paused. Something quiet, something fast is sneaking up from behind him. The steps were unhurried, yet rushed. Cheng Xiaoshi felt his heart drop yet race at the same time. A single sweat dripped down his cheek. "Who's ther— OW!" He clutched his head, feeling the burning sensation of a book slamming down at his head. "What–" He opened one of his eyes hesitantly. "Lu Guang??"
"Skipping again, idiot?" Lu Guang crossed his arms.
"What— what are you doing here?"
"I could ask you the same thing."
Cheng Xiaoshi raised his hands.
"Go back to class already idiot–"
Clap.
He didn't need to open his eyes to know what happened. That sound was too familiar, too troublesome. "Dummy..."
Lu Guang looked down, in front of him was a single paper. He crouched down.
His eyes sharpened, and glowed, like a moonlight. The world around him blurred into less than nothingless.
The trees in the picture started moving along with the rhythm of the wind, birds chirping along with their own melody and language, its sound high and shrieking.
Then in the distance, almost slowly, the quality no different than security cameras, was Cheng Xiaoshi falling down from heaven. Lu Guang blinked, snapping out of the daze. Almost immediately, the world returned back to him. He opens up his bag, putting the picture safety inside, zipping it up, and going on his way.
His shoes stamped on the ground with force as he made his landing. Dust filled out from under his feet, and he brushed some off his pants. Cheng Xiaoshi looked around. "Ha! Take that Lu Guang, bet you didn't see that coming did you? How's that for a—"
"You finally made it."
"Ack!"
Standing near the wall next to his, is Lu Guang, one leg hoisted up on the wall, the other firmly on the ground. In his hand was a open book, the other hand in his shirt's pocket. His black eyes drilled into Cheng Xiaoshi's.
"How are you here?!"
Lu Guang took his hand out of his pocket, raising it, and showing one small picture.
"Hey! That's not fair! You can predict my movements!"
"And it was fair that you telported away?"
"That's—" Cheng Xiaoshi fumbled with his hands as he looked for words. "That's different." Was his conclusion.
"Different exactly how?"
"Just.... Different."
"You used your power, and I used mine. It's perfectly fair." Lu Guang closed his book, "but either way, when exactly did you take the picture?"
"Before I went to school.... Cool huh?"
"No."
"Aw... you don't need to be shy, you can say it's pretty cool~"
Lu Guang shrugged Cheng Xiaoshi off, "It's not. You had a project you needed to do with Xia Fei."
Cheng Xiaoshi deflated like a balloon. "Aw c'mon.... Do you have to mention school everywhere?"
"I told him I would bring you back, so let's go."
Cheng Xiaoshi stared at Lu Guang's open hand. He grabbed the wrist, tugging Lu Guang towards him. "Wha-" Lu Guang sputtered in surprise.
"Don't be such a downer," Cheng Xiaoshi grinned. "C'mon, let's go get some boba."
"No–"
"Let's go already! There's a new spot that opened up."
"I didn't–"
"Whoever's the last one to that tree pays!" Cheng Xiaoshi let go of Lu Guang's wrist, running ahead, looking back only to flash one last grin.
"You idiot. You're cheating!" Lu Guang quickened his pace. "Cheng Xiaoshi!"
Laughter filled the air, echoed by the wind
