Bing. StarkMail notification in the lower right corner of the screen.
Peter glances at it. Just gotta finish coding this palladium invoice. Hold on email!
Sam makes a note on his JE. Talk with purchasing about adding a pallet fee on the next PO. Now, what’s this email about?
Nat silently reads the email twice. Huh.
Peter finishes the email, squeaks, and rolls over to Sam’s desk. “Sam what do you think? I could work for the Avengers directly!”
Nat pokes her head over her monitors. “You’d be handling property damage all day instead of part of the day.”
“Oh. Right.” Peter deflates.
Sam thinks for a minute. “I could create logical procedures for everything. No rewrites, no justifications. Just clean documentation from day one.”
Nat sighs. “I’m not getting near that tax code. I’ll stay with SI. Bucky’s never tried to manage office people. Breaking into Hydra is rather different from 9-5ers.”
“Maybe I can split time between the two?” Peter double-checks the screen. “The email does mention current employees can choose to split hours between SI and Avengers.”
“I want to talk more about this. With Tony and the rest of the Avengers team. I think they’ll need solid people to build this. Bucky has come to my vet’s group at the VA. I think he can do this.”
“I know Bucky can lead. That’s not in question. Office people are cats, they need to be lured. The Army treats teams rather differently.”
“True. Orders mean get it done in the military. Not much for emotional warmth and encouragement.” Sam rubs his head in thought.
“Maybe you can help Mr. Barnes?” Peter suggests. “Do you talk about leaders in your VA group Sam?”
“Yes, we’ve all talked about COs and how they impacted our teams. How they helped or hurt when things went straight FUBAR.”
“Bucky was both a leader as the sergeant and a subordinate under the Captain. Perhaps he can handle this,” mused Nat. “I’ll still bring vodka and popcorn.”
