Dream a little dream of me

Summary:

When Aziraphale finally falls asleep, his dreams might just come true. Even sooner than he'd expected.
There's dreaming, there's sniffing, there's kissing and there's love.

Work Text:

Stars shinin' bright above you
Night breezes seem to whisper, "I love you"
Birds singin' in the sycamore tree
Dream a little dream of me

Say, "Nighty-night" and kiss me
Just hold me tight and tell me you'll miss me
While I'm alone and blue as can be
Dream a little dream of me.

It was yet another lovely day after the apocalypse that nobody remembered and Crowley was on his way to visit his friend who was unfortunately still just a friend and he was totally fine with that, thank you very much. It's not like he was expecting things to change after they'd saved the world together. Or after the bus ride from Tadfield. Or after the body swap. Or after they were finally free of their head offices. He was totally fine with just being friends with the only being he'd ever loved. Tickety-boo.

When he entered the bookshop, the first thing he noticed was how unusually quiet and still everything was. There were rarely any customers, but there was always music or a kettle on or the rustling of paper, scraping of a chair... but this time there was no sound whatsoever. Crowley was tense, expecting yet another trick from above of below, threading carefully towards the back of the bookshop, ready for trouble.

What he was not ready for was the sight of an angel asleep in his armchair, head tilted towards one side, hands resting on an open book in his lap. Aziraphale never slept and the peaceful sight of him made Crowley's heart melt.

He aproached the angel carefully not even daring to breathe until he was inches away. Then he took a deep breath, inhaling the sweetest of scents. Crowley knew exactly what Aziraphale smelled like and it was intoxicating even from a few feet away. This close, the scent was irresistible and he couldn't get enough of it. He leaned even closer, braced his hands on the armrests, his nose almost touching Aziraphale's when he heard the tiniest of moans coming from the sleeping angel.

Crowley froze, his eyes going wide, his brain trying to come up with an explanation of his current position, but the angel in question just took a deep breath, his sleeping face lighting up with a soft smile as he whispered: "Oh Crowley, my love."

Without thinking, Crowley closed the distance and captured Aziraphale's lips in a gentle kiss. The angel smiled again against his lips and kissed him back with yet another soft moan. The sound had Crowley wake up from the haze of lust. His angel was still half asleep, vulnerable and confused and he didn't even ask before he attacked his mouth.

"Don't..." Aziraphale breathed, his eyes still closed. Crowley felt the shame and guilt consume him as he started to move away.
"'M sorry, angel, I should have..."
"Don't stop, love." The angel pulled him in for another gentle, sleepy, lazy kiss and this time Crowley relaxed, crawled into his angel's lap, the book discarded on the floor and let the principality hold him close, let him rest his head against his and just listened to his steady breath as he too drifted off to sleep.

Crowley woke up a few hours later with a grin on his face and a fluttering in his chest he didn't have to hide anymore. His angel was still asleep, so he decided to get him something sweet to wake up to from his favourite bakery.

Arriving back with a paper bag full of treats, he found Aziraphale up and about.
"You look happier than usual, angel. Any particular reason?" He asked as he placed the pastries on the small coffee table, pleased with himself.
"I've just had the sweetest dream." The angel replied, to Crowley's surprise.
"No, you didn't." He grinned back.
"I did. Actually, it was about you, dear." Crowley was sure Aziraphale was looking at his lips.
"No, it wasn't." He insisted. Because it wasn't a dream.
"You don't even know what I dreamt about!" Aziraphale protested and Crowley took a step closer, taking off his dark glasses and locking his amber eyes with him.
"If I guess what your dream was about... will you go on a proper date with me?" His voice was trembling almost as much as Aziraphale's when he answered.
"But what if you don't... okay, dear, I will go on a date with you. If you can guess..."
Crowley took yet another step closer, lifting Aziraphale's chin with his thumb.
"You dreamt about how I smell when I'm near you." He whispered and Aziraphale inhaled deeply.
"You dreamt about how soft my lips are against yours." Crowley whispered against his lips and the angel closed his eyes and leaned into his touch.
"You dreamt about how much you would like to taste me. All of me." Aziraphale was the first one to desperately crush their lips together while his hands found Crowleys hips to hold onto.
"Does that mean it's a date, angel?"
