Chapter Text
The best day of Sirius' life had gone straight to hell.
It had started with Sirius and Remus in their wedding suits.
Now, both are soaked in blood.
A distant smell of smoke fills the elegant room.
"I'm sorry. I really loved you, you know. It's almost dawn. If I don't do this, I'll die". Remus holds his knife towards Sirius.
Sirius looks at him, shocked and hopeless. He is covered in wounds from fighting Remus' family.
"You don't have to do this, Remus. Whatever they've told you, it's not true. You won't die. Please!", Sirius shouts frantically.
He has no energy and knows he won't be able to fight back.
"Just- just put the knife down".
Remus drops his hand holding the knife and sighs.
"I just can't risk it. You understand".
Remus steps forwards, raising the knife, when suddenly, he freezes.
Blood starts seeping through him.
Sirius looks to the window. The sunlight is seeping through the curtains. Dawn.
Remus' body combusts, his blood spraying onto Sirius.
Sirius gasps, the blood getting into his mouth.
The smell of smoke gets thicker, and Sirius notices flames spreading by the door.
He steps out stumbles over to the marble staircase leading to the mansion and sits down.
He pulls out a cigarette, lights it, and takes in a large puff.
Sirius woke up in the hospital a day later.
He had almost died from all the blood he lost that day.
The doctors told him he had seven stab wounds, two gunshot wounds, as well as a variety of minor injuries.
He lays, zoned out, when a nurse enters. "Mr. Black, you have a visitor".
A young boy enters slips in through the door.
Regulus Black.
"What are you doing here", Sirius asks in disbelief.
"Apparently I'm still your emergency contact. Anything you have to say about that?"
Regulus does not look happy to be here.
"Fuck. I'm sorry."
"You should be. You abandoned me."
Sirius looks hurt at that.
"I had to. You know I love you, don't say it like that".
"Whatever. I don't even know why I'm here. I'm leaving-"
Suddenly, a knife is thrown at the security guard walking down the hall.
It hits him in the neck as blood pours down.
Regulus immediately stands frozen, staring at the body as it collapses.
"Fuck. They're back. Regulus, get down!"
Sirius pushes himself out of the hospital bed and grabs his younger brother, pulling him down into a blind spot.
Regulus is shaking now.
"Who's back?!", he whispers.
"They're here to kill me. I need to get out. Stay here. Stay hidden",
Sirius says as he tucks Regulus further under a desk in the corner of the hospital room.
"No! Don't leave me. Please."
Regulus holds onto Sirius' wrist tightly, refusing to let go.
Sirius sighs.
"Fine but hurry up. Stay close."
Regulus' hand stays locked on Sirius' wrist.
They both sneak silently out into the hallway.
Sirius grabs the gun from the dead security guard and holds it defensively in front of himself.
A man with a knife in his hand sees them and starts running towards them.
With one pop of the gun, the man falls.
Sirius shoots again to be safe before taking Regulus' hand and running towards the exit.
He pushes the button to the elevator but the moment the doors open, men with gas masks enter the floor.
"No, no, no, fuck!", Sirius shouts.
The men spray smoke from a can, filling the room with the gray gas.
The two brothers fall unconscious.
