Chapter Text
It’s 10:00 pm on a Saturday, and Michelle couldn’t be happier. Her, Max, Lucy, Daisy, El, and Willow are all huddled close together in her basement for movie night. They are rewatching Star Wars for probably the fiftieth time. Willow is fast asleep under Michelle’s arm.
Lucy: “Mich, can you grab my cup of water?”
Michelle: “Can you not see that Willow is comfortable here on my arm?” Lucy rolls her eyes.
Lucy: “Dude, just grab me the water. It’s literally right next to you.” Michelle looks down beside her, and sees a green, empty water cup on the floor. She picks it up.
Michelle: “Is it green?”
Lucy: “Yeah I think so.”
Michelle: “Here you go.” She throws the empty cup at Lucy, and it hits her right in the forehead.
Lucy: “ow!” Michelle bursts out laughing.
Michelle: “BAHAHAH!” Willow wakes up, startled, and starts rubbing her eyes groggily.
Willow: “What are you doing Mich?”
Michelle: “Sorry Willow. I just threw a cup at Lucy, and it hit her right in the head.Willow giggles.
Lucy: “Oh is that funny to you?”
Willow: “Just a little bit.” Lucy rolls her eyes. The basement door opens, and Max walks down the stairs.
Max: “How are my little ladies?” Eleven turns around, and rolls his eyes.
Eleven: “Well if I’m a lady, then what are you?”
Max: “Lucy’s strong boyfriend.”
Eleven: “Well… I’m Daisy’s kind boyfriend.” Max and Eleven are really great friends, they just happen to have two completely different personalities. Max is strong, and overprotective, and Eleven is kind, and empathetic. They just have two different areas of wisdom.
Daisy: “Guys shut up. I’m actually trying to watch the movie here.” Max coughs, and quietly says,
Max: “nerd.” Daisy turns around upset.
Daisy: “Shut up gym bro.”
Max shrugs, and puts an arm around Lucy.
Lucy: “Clingy.” Max side eyes her, but keeps his arm there anyways. As soon as the movie ends, everyone leaves the basement except Willow. She usually sleeps over on movie nights, and tonight is no different. Michelle and Willow walk upstairs to eat dinner with the rest of the Wheeler family.
Karen: “Willow, will you be joining us for dinner tonight?”
Willow: “As long as it doesn’t bother you.”
Karen: “No, not at all. We love having you here.” Ted is reading his newspaper.
Ted: “Speak for yourself.” He puts down the paper, and makes eye contact with Michelle.
Michelle: “What do you want, Dad?”
Ted: “You know, you really should start hanging out with more boys. I don’t like Max or whatever the other one’s name is very much.”
Michelle: “His name is Joshua first off, and second, they both have girlfriends.”
Ted: “Well that’s surprising.”
Michelle is getting upset now.
Michelle: "Yeah well no one give a rat's ass what you think."
Ted: “One, your mother does, and two, language.” Willow looks uncomfortable. Michelle notices, and sets her hand down on Willow’s upper thigh. This does anything but comfort her. Still, she’s not going to tell Michelle to move her hand. She likes it there.
Karen: “I only care about your opinion, when it comes to naming our children. That’s the only thing your lazy brain is useful for.”
Nancy: “Can you guys stop for once? I just want one normal family dinner. One!” Nancy pushes up from the table, and Michelle does the same. She grabs Willow’s hand, and leads her up to her room.
Willow: “Dinners with your family are always so intense.”
Michelle: “Yeah well, so are my feelings for you in that skirt.” Willow was very nervous about wearing her tight little black skirt that she has on, but she is glad she did, because Michelle seems to be enjoying it. Willow rolls her eyes, and leans in for a kiss. One turns into two, three, four, until Nancy bangs on the wall screaming at them for being too loud.
Nancy: “Please! I can’t take anymore of your making out!”
Michelle: “Nancy! Our house is not soundproof, and mom and dad are extremely homophobic!” Nancy hits a sudden realization, and quiets her voice a bit.
Nancy: “Sorry, but shut up.”
Michelle flips her off, and Nancy seems to sense it because she screams,
Nancy: “I swear on great uncle Jo, if you are flipping me off right now Michelle!”
Michelle: “Whatever, let’s go outside Willow.” Michelle grabs a pack of cigarettes, and steps onto the roof. Willow follows, and soon the two of them have smoked the entire pack.
Willow: “I just feel like I can’t be myself anymore, you know what I mean?”
Michelle: “Yeah, I think I know what you mean.”
Willow: “Sorry, I feel like I’m going crazy.”
Michelle: “Well if we go crazy, then we go crazy together right?”
Willow: “Yeah, crazy together.” Nancy opens her window, and joins them on the roof.
Nancy: “Hey guys.”
Willow: “Hi Nancy.” She notices the empty pack of cigarettes.
Nancy: “You got any more of those?” Willow pulls the one that she was saving out of her pocket, and offers it to Nancy. She gladly accepts, and lights it. The three of them sit there for some time, until Nancy breaks the silence.
Nancy: “Hey so, my friend Tina is hosting a party later tonight, and I was wondering if you guys wanted to go?”
Willow’s face brightens. She loves going to parties.
Willow: “Will there be drinking?”
Nancy: “I don’t know, probably.” Willow looks down at the ground. She hates parties with alcohol.
Willow: “Oh… I don’t know.”
Nancy: “Come on Willow. It’ll be fun.” Michelle takes Willow’s hand.
Michelle: “She doesn’t have to if she doesn’t want to.”
Willow: “I mean I guess we can go.”
Michelle: “Lo, if you don’t want to, we don’t have to go.”
Willow: “No Mich. I wanna go. It’ll be fun.”
Nancy: “Yes! Also before you ask, this is a Goth themed party. Robin and I are going together.”
Michelle: “Alright. When does it start?”
Nancy: “It starts at ten. That gives you four hours to get ready.”
Willow: “Ok.”
Nancy: “I’m going over to Robin’s to get ready, and then we’ll pick you up.”
Michelle: “ok.” Nancy hops off the roof, and gets into her car. Willow and Michelle go back into her room to get ready. Michelle searches through her closet until she finds a black lace top with flared sleeves. She finds a black laced tank top, and hands the long sleeve one to Willow. She puts it on, and gives herself a small smokey eye, and Michelle is doing a winged eyeliner look in her bathroom. She throws on the tank top, and a pair of black pants. When she walks back into her room, Willow is just finishing up her makeup.
Michelle: “Wow, Lo you look beautiful.”
Willow: “Aw Mich, so do you.”
Michelle: “No, I mean like drop dead gorgeous. I think you should dress emo more often.” This gets a subtle giggle out of Willow.
Just like Nancy said, not even ten minutes later, she and Robin pull into the driveway, and Willow and Michelle leave through the window.
Robin: “Yo.” Robin is wearing a bunch of cross accessories, and a black shirt and pants. Nancy on the other hand, went full out on the hair and makeup, and minimally on the accessories. She’s wearing a short, flowy black dress, and ripped fishnet tights.
Michelle: “What’s up my fellow emos?”
Nancy: “I think it’s technically goths.”
Michelle: “Yeah whatever.”
Willow: “I mean she’s not wrong babe.” Michelle rolls her eyes, and flips off Nancy. Nancy turns around in her chair.
Nancy: “MICHELLE JOSEPH WHEELER!” Michelle rolls her eyes.
Robin: “I will turn this car around if you continue to disrespect Nance like that.” Michelle crosses her arms stubbornly.
Michelle: “fine…” They pull up to the driveway of the house to see disco lights all throughout the windows, and a bunch of people dressed in all black. They all get out of the car, and slowly make their way inside the house. It smells disgusting. Like chain smokers live here (honestly they probably do). They continue to walk until they find Steve and Eddie. They are in the back, probably on their third or fourth drink of the night. Robin jumps on Steve’s back.
Robin: “Hi stranger.”
Steve: “Robin get off of me.”
Robin: “Not until you say hi to me!”
Steve: “Hi Robin.”
Robin: “Thank you.” Robin hops off of Steve, and walks over to Eddie.
Eddie: “Hewwo Wobin.” Eddie is slurring his words.
Robin: “How many drinks have you had tonight Eddie?”
Eddie: “Dis many!” He holds up three fingers.
Robin slaps her forehead.
Robin: “Eddie, give me the drink.” Eddie shakes his head, and pulls the drink away.
Steve: “Eddie.” He gives the drink to Steve, who throws it at a random person. She turns around, and walks up to Steve. She slaps him before returning to her friends where she is greeted with high fives.
Steve: “ow.”
Robin: “BAHAHAHAHAAHHA!!!” Robin walks over to the girl and taps her on the shoulder. She turns around.
Robin: “Tinaaaa!!”
Tina: “Robinnnn!!”
Robin: “Nice job. He deserved it.” She gives Tina a high five.
Tina: “Thanks. He definitely did.” Nancy and Steve are talking on the other side of the room, while Eddie drunkenly tries to explain how to do a somersault to Willow and Michelle who are bawling because it’s so funny.
Eddie: “So then, you’re gonna squat, and tuck your chin into your chest and roll in a ball.”
Willow: “Ok.” Willow and Michelle are both following the tutorial, and are successfully doing it. Steve and Nancy turn around from their conversation, and raise their eyebrows.
Michelle: “Don’t ask.”
Nancy: “I think I’m gonna go hang with Robin and Tina.”
Steve: “Yeah, I have to get Eddie to the venue he’s performing at.”
Michelle: “All right.”
Nancy: “Are you sure you’re good on your own?”
Willow: “Yeah we’ll be fine Nance.”
Nancy: “Ok, just don’t get too drunk. I’m looking at you Mich.” Michelle rolls her eyes.
Michelle: “Ok.” Michelle pulls Willow into the crowded dancing area, and grabs a drink from the mysterious punch bowl. She is about to take a sip, when Willow grabs her arm.
Willow: “Don’t drink too much please.” Michelle gargles the drink in her mouth.
Michelle: “Lo, I won’t. Plus, you’ve seen me drunk before. I'm a fun drunk, not an abusive drunk.”
Willow: “Mich, just watch the drinks please.”
Michelle: “Ok.”
Willow: “Thank you.” Willow is just about to relax before Michelle screams into the crowd.
