Work Text:
they’ve only been sailing for about 4 hours now, and Cherri hasn’t said a word. She clearly didn’t want to leave her father back at Soluna, with the anguish of the war leaving ash and bloodshed.
She feared for her father’s life, not knowing if he would actually make it home or not. Surely he would, right? He’s king of Soluna, and he’s already harnessed his pyrokinesis to it’s fullest. yet.. there’s still doubt in her mind. Apo seems to notice this. Not talking for a couple hours can make you more observant, she guesses.
“ Don’t worry, Princess Cherri. I’m sure everything is going to be fine, especially after you harness your powers. “ Says Apo, the words seemingly echoing out into the sea, and giving Cherri little to no comfort. “ We can’t be sure. “ she murmurs back, her gaze dropping down to her reflection from the moonlight.
Apo gives her a look of sympathy, continuing to row their small boat, and sighs, knowing her efforts will remain fruitless. Cherri, in response, takes her crown off, her eyes bore into the gold headpiece, handmade for her. She thinks one final thought before she begins to rest, ‘ Please father, be okay. ‘.
