Chapter 1: Mary and co

Chapter Text

“I’m so sorry!! Are you okay?!” A good enough opening line a bit over used but it worked and had the added benefit of putting people at ease. “You little brat, watch where you’re going!” A little less aggressive than usual, but she already had what she needed no need to extend the interaction

She ran into the alley where the others were waiting for her.”Trip what cha get?” “A twenty and a 5. you lot get anything?”

Now Trip (Mary but no one calls her that) was about 98 percent sure that if Bug, and Piranha had gotten anything they would have been bragging by now she could always hope.

“Nope, well not cash Bug snatched a pretty cool watch though. Don’t know how much it’s worth.” Huh that was new. Usually Bug sticks to wallets. “Yeah it’s super shiny and the guy wearing it was on a call so it was super easy to take!”

Bug said showing off a sparkling silver watch “Great job! Looks expensive Jerry’ll have pay quite a bit for it.” From there the conversation spiraled into strange things they saw like the pidgin on third street that was definitely judging everyone that passed it “It sat there for 30 minutes just looking disappointed at the world!” Piranha sated looking horrified.

They walked back towards their alley Bug cartwheeling all the way. It was pretty sunny today which was strange for this early in the spring but she wasn’t complaining.

Their alley was well lived in, it had a canopy of balcony’s above it that protected from some of the rain when it came. Piranha collected pieces of scrap metal from where she had no idea, and put near the end of the alley. Bug had her pile of random cool things she found like fishing line, bottle caps and paper clips. Trip her self had collected a few things from the streets but not nearly as much as these two.

Which was kind of ironic considering she was the oldest. She collected mostly shiny things: pieces of glass, jars, and glass bottles.

They had a ripped and slightly blood stained gymnastics mat at the back of the alley (she still has no idea where Bug got it) that they slept on.

There are at least three other groups of street kids around this area but they’ve yet to have problems with them. Trip had met one of these groups recently it consisted of switch, ghost and wheels funnily enough she met them while they were trying to steal the tires off some fancy rich car.

But they seemed peaceful enough switch was her age ghost was 2 years older and wheels was the youngest probably 6 years old by the look of him.

She figured they were all amply named based on their reactions to her sneaking up on them switch pulling a knife out, Wheels ignoring her in favor of stealing the tires and her not noticing Ghost.

Overall a good exchange after everyone called down (Switch) enough for an actual conversation. Trip had told Bug and Piranha the story but they were more interested in the bag of apples she had bought.

From the store Ms Sally owned. Ms Sally was a nice old lady who liked giving street kids candy. She ran a little shop at the corner of fifth, that sold food at a decent price.

Another cool thing about our alley was the cat that occasionally came round every once and awhile it was a big orange tabby it was ridiculously calm and super fluffy though it slept a lot.
