Birthday Kiss

Summary:

San is the first member to give Yunho his birthday present.

Notes:

HAPPY YUNHO DAY!!

This idea just came to me and I had a strong urge to write it even though I’ve got a shit ton of other fics in the making that I’ll probably never finish.

I love YunSan to death so in honour of Yunho’s birthday, and my undying love for San, my gift is a cutesy little one shot.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

”Night,” San called over his shoulder to Seonghwa, Yeosang and Jongho as he left the elevator and walked down the corridor to his hotel room.

The beep of the sensor echoed in the quiet corridor as he tapped his keycard and entered the room.

San slipped his shoes off and walked further inside, dropping his bag on the floor by the desk just in front of the bed with a small sigh.

He had a plan for Yunho’s birthday, and he wanted to execute it perfectly.

Hongjoong, Yunho, Mingi, and Wooyoung were in the other car that left a few mintues before theirs, and it was 11:42pm, which meant he had exactly eighteen minutes to get ready.

San stepped into the bathroom, turned on the shower, quickly stripped off his clothes and jumped in.

Not literally. If he did then he’d have to take a small break from schedules and disappoint Atiny by not performing, while also setting his team back by forcing them to adjust around his hypothetical injury—and nobody wanted that.

Eight minutes later, San was stood in front of the small closet with a towel wrapped around his waist and his hands rummaging through the contents, looking for clothes to sleep in.

He pulled out a black sleeveless top, grey shorts and a pair of socks. San dried off properly and changed before checking the time again.

11:51pm

Good. Just enough time to finish getting everything ready.

San hung his damp towel up in the bathroom and headed towards the small fridge under the desk.

Earlier that morning, he’d taken a walk down to a small bakery he’d spotted when they’d first arrived in Kuala Lumpur.

He didn’t buy a big cake—in fact, it was small enough to fit perfectly in his hands.

It was a simple vanilla strawberry cake with vanilla buttercream frosting, piped swirls decorating the edges and sides, and fresh strawberries placed neatly on top.

If it weren’t for the time and place, he would’ve bought Yunho a Spider-Man themed cake but, it wasn’t the end of the world. There was always next year, and the years to come.

He opened the refrigerator door and took out the box. The buttercream had held up nicely. After all the time he’d spent watching cake-decorating videos, it was safe to say he was pretty much an expert now and knew that if buttercream wasn’t kept at a cool temperature, it would melt and ruin the design—which was great because that meant Yunho’s cake was perfect.

He placed the white box on the table top, ripped a clean line through the sticker and opened it to reveal the cake still intact.

San grabbed the small box of candles he’d bought along with the cake and placed four candles evenly spaced from one another, adding one more in the centre for good measure.

He stared at the cake for a few seconds, making sure he was happy with the way it looked before reaching for his phone and sitting down on the edge of the bed.

11:56pm

Fabulous!

San unlocked his phone and started typing out a message.

Yunho-ah

San-ah

Can you come to my room for a minute?

Why?

Are you okay?

I’m okay!

I have something important to tell you

Ummm..okay

Give me a minute

San locked his phone, chucking it behind him where it landed on the mattress with a soft thud, and stood up.

He thought about propping the door open slightly with a shoe so Yunho could enter without San having to open the door for him, but then he remembered he’s a K-pop Idol with sasaengs and maybe that wasn’t the best idea.

He walked up to the door and opened it just a crack so when he let go, the door would close completely.

San pressed his ear to the tiny gap and waited, trying to breathe as quietly as possible so he could hear when Yunho’s door opened.

5 seconds.

10 seconds.

15 seconds.

Click.

Yunho’s door opened

San tip-toed over to the desk, grabbed the cake and a lighter before stepping into his slides and slipped out the balcony door.

He balanced the cake in one hand before flicking the lighter—once, twice. The flame caught on the third try, and he lit the candles in record time.

Now we wait…

Yunho slipped on his shoes and took the keycard from the slot in the wall before opening the door and peeking his head out of the gap, looking left and right to see if the corridor was empty.

It’s not that he wasn’t allowed to leave his room after a certain time—he was—but he didn’t want to risk a possible crazy, obsessed fan finding out what room number he was staying in and leaking it to the public.

Luckily, the corridor was empty. He left his room, walking the short distance to San’s hotel room, and stopped just short of the door.

The door had been left open. Not enough to be obvious, more like in the way someone would if they left their key inside and wouldn’t be gone long enough to need it.

He raised his hand to knock but then thought what was the point if San already knew he was coming? Still, it’s polite to knock.

But what if San was butt-ass naked, lying in the middle of his bed like a starfish?

Yunho internally scoffed at himself. San may be dumb at times, but he wasn’t that stupid.

Yunho knocked anyway before pushing the door open and stepping inside.

“San,” Yunho called out. The room was empty, the only sign of San’s presence being his bag that had been abandoned on the floor by the desk and the dampness of the room indicating San had just recently showered. But the lights were off.

“San-ah,” Yunho walked further into the room. “Where are y—“ He cut himself off when his eyes landed on the movement on the other side of the mesh curtains that led to the small balcony.

Ahhh…so that’s where he is.

Yunho placed his phone and keycard on the vanity desk and made his way over to the balcony door. Pulling back the curtain, he slid open the door and stepped out into the cool night.

“San-ah, what are yo—“ his question was cut off by San’s soft voice.

Happy Birthday to You,

Yunho let out a small gasp of surprise, eyes widening slightly as he realised why San asked him to come to his room.

Happy Birthday to You,

The corners of Yunho’s mouth twitch up into a big grin. His hand came up to cover his mouth as his shoulders shook with a silent giggle.

Happy Birthday Dear Yunho,

Yunho felt his skin prickle as a cheeks and neck heated up, a soft rosey blush spreading across them.

Happy Birthday to You.

San stood in front of him with a smile Yunho could only describe as pure adoration, his eyes warm in a way one would look at someone they loved more than words could hold.

“Make a wish, birthday boy,” San’s voice was low as he took a small step towards Yunho.

Yunho clasped his hands together and closed his eyes.

He thought back to the concert—BBTrippin, his members, and Atiny surprising him by singing happy birthday before Shaboom, his Seonghwa-hyung wishing him happy birthday with a big smile on his face during Now This House Ain’t A Home and giving him a hug.

Yunho had known he was loved—by his family, by Atiny—but standing on stage in an arena of 16,000 people singing ‘Happy Birthday’ to him made him realise he was adored far more than he’d ever allowed himself to believe.

And even now, standing on a balcony in Kuala Lumpur with his beloved younger brother singing happy birthday to him, he felt more loved than he ever had in his whole entire life.

Tears began to well in his eyes but before they had a change to escape, another memory surfaced.

The live he did the other night.

Atiny had been telling him how San had told them that his birthday present to Yunho was a kiss. Though San hadn’t specified where the kiss would be planted, the thought made him blush even harder in the humid air of the night.

I wish…

Yunho couldn’t believe that, of all the things he could be wishing for right now, he was wishing for the one thing San gave out so casually to the members almost every day.

I wish for…

He didn’t care, though. It was his wish, and Yunho was sure that he’d have another chance to make a different one later that day.

I wish for a kiss from San. I want to feel his lips against mine, please.

Yunho’s eyes fluttered open as he took a deep inhale and blew out his candles.

He looked up from the cake just as a high-pitched squeal left San’s throat. “ Yay!” San beamed, barely bouncing in place so he wouldn’t drop the cake.

”Come,” San jerked his head to the side, signalling for Yunho to follow him back into the room.

Yunho closed the door behind him just in time for San to set the cake down on the bed and practically throw himself into Yunho’s arms.

San wrapped his arms tightly around his neck, and it almost distracted Yunho from the way his voice dropped low against his ear. ”Happy birthday Yunho-ah,”

Yunho wrapped his arms around San’s small waist and let out a content sigh into his neck. “Thank you, Sannie”

“Did you make your wish?” San asked, loosening his grip slightly.

“Mhm,” Yunho hummed, nodding.

”Was it a good wish?”

Yunho paused before answering, his body suddenly heating up again. “Yeah…I think so,”

San fully loosened his arms from around his neck, letting them settle against his shoulders. “That’s good.”

Yunho’s face was barely an inch away from San’s now, and he could feel his warm breath against his skin.

“Are you ready for your present?”

His heartbeat spiked at the words. Was San actually gonna kiss him?

He nodded, watching carefully as San leaned in closer, gently pulling him forward until his lips hovered just above his left cheek.

Yunho swallowed, hoping San couldn’t hear it in the quiet of the room.

The second San’s lips made contact with his cheek, Yunho’s eyes fluttered shut. His lips were warm and soft, slightly damp from where he’d just run his tongue over them.

San pulled back, leaving Yunho’s skin tingling—but before he could fully take it in, San was already moving to his other cheek.

He pressed another gentle kiss to his skin, lingering just a little longer.

Yunho didn’t move. He could’ve pulled away at any moment, but he didn’t.

I mean…this is what he wished for after all, was it not?

San’s hands gently slid upward until they cupped the back of Yunho’s head, his fingers lightly brushing against his scalp.

He tilted Yunho’s head down, rising onto his tip-toes to press a kiss to his forehead.

This one was different. It was softer than the others. Warmer. The type that made something in Yunho melt.

His heartbeat began to slow down to a steady pace, and his shoulders relaxed as he leaned into the touch.

San pulled back just enough to rest their foreheads together, his feet flat on the ground again.

“Yunho-hyung,” San murmured softly. “…Can I?”

For a moment, Yunho didn’t move.

Then, instead of answering, he closed the distance between them and their lips met gently in a soft, hesitant kiss.

San responded immediately, kissing him back as if it was the most natural thing in the world.

Yunho froze for half a second, his mind going blank—then the warmth sank in, and everything else faded away.

He exhaled softly into the kiss, his body loosening as he leaned closer, his mind going quiet.

It wasn’t rushed, or overwhelming.

Just soft. Real.

Everything Yunho had wished for.

And somewhere in the back of his mind, a quiet thought surfaced…

This might be the best birthday yet.

Notes:

I hope you guys enjoyed this and sorry if it’s not that good, this is the fastest I’ve ever written a fanfic and you know what, I’m proud of myself for it.

I legit told myself that I was gonna post this on Yunho’s birthday but I just couldn’t stop myself from doom scrolling in tiktok so here I am at 1am finally finishing it. Btw this took me a whole fucking day to write and towards the end I kinda gave up because I’ve never been kissed and don’t know how to write that.
