Unruly Girls Will Not Settle Down

Summary:

When Noel arrives home from work, Sara is awfully excited to see him

Work Text:

Sara pranced around Noel's open kitchen, basking in the candles she had once lit.

She was estatic, waiting for Noel to come home from the studio.

Her hands met the counter, propping her slim form on top of the cool finish.

Sighing, she lets her curly hair fall down in front of her face, watching the night settling in.

Stars were coveted by clouds, moving gradually across the sullen sky.

This was always her favorite part of the day, well, evening. Those late nights where she frolicked around the house, doing her chores and painting on the side.

But she craved having her husband by her side, in fact, longing for Noel to stay home longer.

Which is why tonight was so important.

Musicians never rest, but was it worth it to go to the studio everyday?

Sara had never gotten around to asking that.

She took a candle, wrapping it in her palms, taking it to the connected living room. With a small huff, she sat down in Noel's chair.

She sunk herself into the cushion, soaking up his scent of his rich colonge, feeling the warmth of candle near her face.

She did it to get back at him, especially when he came home. It lightens his spirit, she noted.

Although she wasn't sure if Noel ever allowed himself to feel stress, or if he was naturally grumpy.

After all these years of having him open up, hell, even crying to her, she still wasn't certain if the arrogant persona was well, real.

Well, from what she figured, it wasn't, even if Noel never admitted.

A smile crosses her face, she keeps thinking about him. Impatient, she shuffles into a cozy position in the chair, feet steadied by the cushion underneath.

She retracts the candle to the coffee table, and slouches back into position. Sara’s legs drape over the armrest, and her head falls on the other. An exhale.

The world around her is fading as she drifts from in and out of sleep. Her body is flooded with a warm and fuzzy feeling, and her eyelids fawn into a comfortable nap.

Keys rattle, and Sara perks up from her fatigue.

The room around her brightens.

She’s alerted by the sudden noise.

She saunters her tired body to open it. All the excitement had motivated her to get up and go.

Oh, Noel, I've missed you!

She brings Noel into a tight hug, much to his surprise. Not exactly the first thing he expected when he walked through the door.

"Oh, my, uh, hello, love." He stutters. His hand caresses her head, running his fingers through her hair.

She releases him, and pecks him on the cheek.

"I've missed you all day, Noel!" She gushes, her hands still lingering on his waist.

"I figured you did," his tone is sheepish. "Or else you wouldn't be out this late."

Sara scoffs. "Well, seems like we don't spend time together...so, it's worth the wait."

She drapes herself around Noel, refusing to let go as he had barely walked in the door. He didn't care all that much. She was the only reason he had dropped that arrogance once he gets in the door.

She loved both sides of him, no matter what.

“Is there a reason you’re so clingy, Sara?” He asked, out of the blue.

She tried to second guess herself, but couldn’t find a reason to do so.

“Well, it’s been such a long day without you…I’ve just missed having ya around.” She says. She can feel her gaze softening as her eyes catch Noel’s handsome face. A small smile crosses on his face. That wasn’t a rare sight for her, but to the public, they may have had other words.

Noel looks forward, guiding him and his wife up the stairs, fingers on her lower back. The house was dim, sullen, quiet.

Sara pushes open the slightly cracked door, and Noel walks over, and flops on their shared bed, wrapping himself under the light comforter.

"Tired?" She asked.

"Obviously." He bantered. His tone changes, voice soft, his accent smooth.

"Come, come next to me." He pats a spot beside him.

She followed his words, and joins him under the covers.

He notices the floral smell of her shampoo lingering on her frizzy curls. It's a pleasant smell that could lull him to sleep at any moment now.

"Noel?"

"Hm?" He opens his eyes, catching hers.

"You want to tell me about your day?"

"Now? Really?" He grumbled. A sigh.

"It was fine. Bit stressful."

"Why's that?"

"You know how we have a new album coming out soon?" He asked.

"Yeah..." She was already aware, as she had been dragged to some of Noel's rehearsals.

"Well I've been just adding some of the finishing touches to it. Hasn't been easy, y'know?"

"I see."

"I mean," He said. "You're an artist, you must get it. You have to finish within a deadline-"

"I know what you're saying." She giggles.

She kissed him, again, at his neck.

She interjects suddenly. "Wouldn't you want to take off your shirt? It's oddly warm in here."

"Mmm, would I have to?"

"Just suggesting." She shrugs, a meek smile on her face.

"I see what you're doing, love. You just want to see me like that, don't you?"

"Maybe.."

His fingers are already working at the buttons.

He knew to at least keep two or three open to entice Sara and to tease her a bit. He loved driving her wild, but he would never say that out loud.

He slips the shirt off, wriggling the sleeves off of his arms.

"There? Better?" He asked.

She curls up to his chest, her hands roaming around his waist, belly, and his chest, swirling around graceful and quick patterns.

He leaned down to kiss her, lips pressing to the top of her head.

"Admit it." She said, jokingly. "You've missed these nights, haven't you?"

"Why wouldn't I?" Noel asked. "I obviously have. Or else I wouldn't be awake with you right now, darling."

Sara chuckled. "You're too sweet, Noel. She enveloped him into a tight hug, much to his surprise. Her legs fall over his, and her head buries into the crook of his neck. She closed her eyes, happy at last to be with her husband.
