A knock ran out in the almost silent office. It came from the brown ornate door at the end of the hallway.
Loyd let out a shaky exhale, partially from worry, stress about what he was going to do, and the fact he was still getting used to his seemingly endless scars. His brow furrowed.
He remembered everything. He saw everything. A faceless prophesized killer, blood stained armor, his own siblings dead right before him, and the murder of The Devil himself.
How would the vigilante even react seeing him at his office door, and not staring out the same window? His thoughts cut clear when he heard a call for him to come in, so he gripped the doorknob with a clashing orange glove, and opened it.
He shuddered within the office as he shut the door behind him, getting his bearings and walking up to the Founder at the end of the hall. Enigmatic yellow eyes shined down at him, however, Loyd knew that the Founder had respect towards him. But that wasn't what he cared about. His mind was clouded in a mixture of anger, hurt, and guilt.
— " Hello, Loyd. Is there something you need? I don't have much time to spare, unfortunately, but I can talk about anything of your- "
— " Why did you let them die. "
The office immediately went silent, including the Founder. Loyd immediately shut his mouth, the words having came out from his own mixed emotions. But the words hung there like heavy chains. He didn't know how he would react. He wouldn't take it back, though.
The Founder spoke a couple minutes after. His tone was slightly offended, but calm as always. His shoulders tensed.
— " Excuse me?- "
But he was cut off by Loyd.
— " You know exactly what I'm talking about. You..You said you've been here since the birth of the universe, but why didn't you save them. Why didn't you save those TRILLIONS of lives that were lost to HIM?! Why did you only step in when all of them were dead in front of me, when all of their bodies fell in front of me, WHEN HE LEFT ME FOR LAST JUST SO I COULD SEE THE PEOPLE I FAILED?! "
Tears stung the man's widened green eyes. He would've apologized to the Founder, but his memories of his own brother being the cause of everything that went wrong was weighing too much on him.
He didn't expect him to not be angry. At all.
— " I know you hate that you witnessed many deaths, however you aren't responsible. I couldn't interfere until that point. I promise you, I wanted to ever since it took a turn for the worse. Ever since Ian died," Loyd felt a gruesome flash in his mind of the powerless murderer as the Founder kept talking, "I can't see the future, and I can't change the past. And I know the past weighs heavy on you, and me. I did not want trillions of casualties, but I had to accept it. "
The Founder slowly stepped over towards his desk. He thought about the knight's service.
— " I do have small guesses on what will happen in the future. And unfortunately, it isn't beneficial. You need to understand that peace comes at loss. Sacrifices. You need to understand I couldn't save everyone."
He looked at a photo of Avarice.
— " And I can't save everyone. "
