Work Text:
"Extra! Extra! Read all about it!" Chestnut Cookie yelled, waving a newspaper in the air.
A large crowd gathered around him, curious about the current affairs happening in Earthbread.
"Cheesecake Cookie invites all to her birthday bash at her mansion at the end of the month!" Chestnut Cookie announced, as he showed the front page picture of the glamourous girl in her finest gown. "Delicious food and boundless entertainment awaits all who come. Only requirement is to be fashionable and merry!"
Everyone, townsfolk and visitors alike,
started chattering in excitement.
"Ooooooooh! How exciting!"
"My visit here came at a perfect time. Now I can reunite with my friend after a long absence!"
"The food their is just to die for! I wonder what will the feast this time be?"
The crowd continued talking in earnest, as they took some newspapers from Chestnut Cookie.
"Here you go! And for you!" He continued giving the papers with a smile on his face.
As soon as they got their papers, they left in a haste, eager to prepare for the festivities ahead. Soon only one cookie remained, Cocoa Cookie.
"Don't worry miss!" He exclaimed. "I saved the best for last!" He handed the remaining paper to the lady.
"Thank you very much." She bowed her head in gratitude.
She walked away, leafing the newspaper.
"Oh.... Cheesecake Cookie's party...." She sighed. "They're such the best. Gorgeous decor. Lot's of chocolate desserts. And best of all...."
She smiled. "Mint Choco Cookie...." She let out a dreamy sigh.
She danced around, smiling from ear to ear. "It's where I first met that dashing musician, long." Hearts surround her, as she reminisced about the musician. She was a newcomer back then, fresh from her move from her hometown. All in her lonesome, for others are uneasy with her mannerisms, her choice of dress and her unusual cocoa addiction.
She heard others talk about Cheesecake Cookie, so she chose to attend one to mingle with others. Such new environment made her feel overwhelmed, it made her feel uncomfortable. It made her want to leave.
"But as I was about to do so, my eyes laid on that man." She narrated. "I feel deep comfort with him at once."
She watched Mint Cookie perform, totally enraptured. His movement was graceful, and his performance pure perfection, making no mistake all throughout.
"His gentle music was just the best. By the end of his performance, everyone stood up and gave a huge round of applause, me included! Thanks to him, my mood became better!"
Mint Choco Cookie bowed, as the curtains fell.
"I thought that was the end. After all, musicians leave after performances. At least, that's what I thought so. I was so wrong. He stayed and mingled with the guests too. Thanking them for their appreciation to his performance."
He soon noticed Mint Choco Cookie and approached her.
"And gosh! He talked to me! He noticed me! You know what I did? I babbled! Talked about how great the music with is cocoa! So embarassing!"
She stopped dancing and smacked her head.
"It's so shameful. I thought I was gonna die!"
The smile reappeared on her face.
"Luckily, he didn't laugh. In fact, he was touched. Touched about how I love his music. And not only that, he invited me for his other concerts."
A few months passed. A more happier Cocoa Cookie was now in a garden party, watching Mint Choco Cookie perform.
"That kindness completely won me over. From then on I became a dedicated fan of his, attending concerts and giving him my chocolate creations. He expressed his thanks in person, as well as gave advice."
"Whenever there's too much in your plate, break them down into smaller tasks. It helps them become more manageable." He said to her after another one of his concerts.
She clutched my chest. "He truly changed my life. Because of him, I become much more braver and stronger."
The reminiscing ends. She glanced at the newspaper and sighed. "I owe everything to Cheesecake Cookie. We might not be close, but she was the one who made it all possible. So to show my appreciation, I will come to her party."
She folded the newspaper and walked, whistling.
"I do hope that Mint Choco's there. I want to support him with all I got."
Later on, Cocoa Cookier entered her favorite diner, situated at the rightmost area of the Town Square.
"Ah! Cocoa Cookie!" Sandwich cookie grinned. "Just in time! We have your favorite drink on the menu!"
Cocoa Cookie clapped her hands together. "That's great! I'll have one, as well as some pancakes to go with it please."
"Sure thing!" Samdwich Cookie gave a thumbs up. "Coming right up!"
Cocoa Cookie settled in front of the counter. Not long after, her order was served.
"Wow! That's fast." She remarked.
"Of course. Cannot make the loyal customer patient." Sandwich Cookie replied, before she rushed to clean the workspace a bit.
"Can't wait to dig in!" She grabbed the fork, cut a piece and swallowed it. "Hmm! Delicious!"
She grabbed her mug, blew on it and took a sip. "Ahhh. You can never go wrong with hot chocolate."
"Glad ya liked it!" Sandwich Cookie smiled as she stood in front of Cocoa Cookie, finished with her task.
"I always do." Cocoa Cookie replied with a smile. "Your cooking is always the best."
"Don't mention it." Sandwich Cookie leaned on the counter. "So, you heard of the party, right."
"Of course." Cocoa Cookie nodded. "It's the talk of the town."
"That Cheesecake lady. Always knowing how to make a scene." She folded her arms and sighed. "No one's coming here as a result. Everyone's too busy for that."
"Yeah. I don't blame them though." Cocoa Cookie replied. Unlike other socialites in Earthbread, Cheesecake Cookie's kindness is as boundless as her wealth, due to the upbringing of her father. Whenever she goes, she never fails to help others in need.
"Because of her kindness, she earned lots of fans." Cocoa Cookie explained.
"I see. The lack of business sucks. but if that's what she is, then I ain't complaining." Sandwich Cookie responded. "Going to come there?"
"Of course. Can't miss it." Cocoa Cookie smiled. "I like the performances there."
"Right. You love music, as much as you love your cocoa." Sandwich Cookie nodded. She leaned in and whispered. "Speaking of music. Did you know that Mint Choco Cookie will be debuting a brand new piece tomorrow?"
"For real?" Cocoa Cookie asked, surprised.
"Yeah. A customer went earlier and told me all about it. They told me that he was celebrating 10 years in the industry, so he wants to celebrate it. It will debut at Cheesecake's, since Mint Choco got his start at her father's gala."
"Of course!" How could she forget. Mint Choco himself told her all about it sometime ago. In the past he was just a poor street busker, making ends meet by performing at streets for meager coins.
"One day, Sir Buttercream Cookie walked by." Mint Choco Cookie explained. "He was so impressed with my playing. He thought it was a good fit for a charity gala he was hosting."
The rest was soon history. He is now a legend, sought after by high-profile producers and other cookies of great stature.
"Very fitting for him to play at Cheesecake's. A homage to the start of his career." Cocoa Cookie remarked.
"The customer told me not to tell others, but the music was going to be a dedication for someone. Most likely a lover."
Cocoa spat out her drink and glanced at her, stunned. "He...has a lover?"
"I guess. The way the guest phrased it made it sound like that. I could be wrong though."
Cocoa Cookie placed her hand on her chin and thought about it. A lover, huh? It's surprising, but it made sense. Mint Choco Cookie is practically a celebrity now. And with that, it was unavoidable to have some suitors.
"Oh. So many fangirls are going crazy about me." He explained to Mint Choco before. "It's really surprising. Usually pop singers like Shining Glitter Cookie are the ones they're gunning for. I guess I offered something different. Emotional. Sincere. Relatable. "
He usually rejects them outright. Most of the time those fangirls are disrespectful and rude.
Could it be that he found the one this time?
Cocoa Cookie tried to distract herself by doing some preparations for the party. But her outings only made her more distracted than ever.
Mint Choco at Cheesecake's party? So cool! His music is just so divine! I hope he plays for me someday!" A random cookie sighed, while Cocoa Cookie's buying ingredients for cupcakes
Cocoa Cookie notices a mural depicting Mint Choco Cookie, hugging another Cookie.
Be Mine! Said the tagline below.
"Hmmmmmm....." Cocoa Cookie bit her lip.
Cocoa rushed away in a flash, the moment she saw someone cosplaying Mint Choco Cookie.
Cocoa Cookie is barely holding it together, for everywhere she goes, she keeps seeing signs of Mint Choco Cookie. From the architecture and advertisements, to the people, Mint Choco pops up in her mind.
"It's official! Mint Choco Cookie is proposing to someone!" Chocolate Bonbon Cookie informed Cocoa Cookie as she visited her studio, located far away from Cuckoo Town, for a dress fitting.
Cocoa Cookie finally lost it. "What?! That can't be true!" She cried out.
"Oh it is, hun!" She replied as she measured her arm. "Mint Choco Cookie himself came here days ago! He's not his usual calm self! In fact, he is frazzled! He is sweating profusely! And he kept mumbling about something!" She wrote the measurements in her notepad and proceeded to measure her waist.
"About what?" Cocoa Cookie asked. She soon yelled. "Stop! You're squeezing my waist too tightly!"
"Oh my! Pardon me." Chocolate Bonbon Cookie winced and loosened the measuring tape. "Better?"
Cocoa Cookie sighed. "Yeah. Much better."
Chocolate Bonbon nodded and continued on. "Anyway. Where are we now? Ah! Yes! I remember! He didn't admit it in my face, but he mumbled about "special one" and "in love"."
Cocoa's heart sank. Of course. He chose the one. He finally found someone he desired. Someone rich. Someone beautiful.
Someone out of this world.
It's so silly. She shouldn't be hurt about the news. After all, she's just a fan. That talks with Mint Choco after concerts, but that was normal for him.
Still, she can't help but feel....heartbroken.
She gave her attention and support... but he chose someone else.....
Afternoon came by. Cocoa Cookie is in her house, slumped in front of her computer.
The search results were very disappointing. Rumors have spread about the identity of Mint Choco's lover. People threw around various personalities such as Shine Muscat Cookie, Choco Bar Cookie, a member from some kpop band, and even Mint Choco's manager. All off them have released press statements denying romance with Mint Choco, but the rumors persist.
"Great.... So many popular celebrities are linked to Mint Choco...." Cocoa Cookie grumbled.
She felt a nudge on her shoulder. She craned her neck and saw Marsh, her beloved marshmallow hamster, floating behind her.
"Squeak!" He chirruped.
"Oh, you! Come over here!" She grabbed him and cuddled him.
"Squeak, squeak?" He tilted his head, concerned for his owner.
"Oh, Marsh. I'm just having a bit of a dilemma. Actually, it's a lot." She let out a huge breath and placed Marsh to the side. "Remember Mint Choco? The musician I like?"
Marsh nodded.
"Well, he's going to have a performance at Cheesecake's birthday. And he has a piece, dedicated to his lover! His lover!"
Marsh gasped. "Squeak! Squeak, squeak!"
"I know! I'm surprised as well! Not once did he tell me about a lover!" Cocoa Cookie cried out. "I can't help but feel betrayed!"
She slammed her head at the table.
Marsh patted Cocoa Cookie, worried for her well being. "Squeak squeak...."
"I guess I'm not the one..." Cocoa Cookie sighed. "I'm way too country. And he's... sophisticated.... I stand no chance with him...."
Marsh got mad, and smacked Cocoa Cookie. "Squeak!"
"Ouch!" She cried, sat up and rubbed the back of her head. "What was that about?"
"Squeak!" Marsh stomped his tiny foot. "Squeak, squeak! Squeak!"
"Huh? Why should I not give up?" Cocoa asked. "I already lost!"
"Squeak! squeak!" Marsh cried out.
"Yeah. They're rumors, but what if one of theme turned out true?"
"Squeak!"
"You mean...I need be more proactive and change myself?"
Marsh nodded. "Squeak! Squeak, squeak! Squeak!"
"Oh! That's a nice idea!" Cocoa Cookie clapped her hands. "I was just standing around doing nothing. If I do a more direct approach and apply to those etiquette lessons, I can gain Mint Choco's attention!"
"Squeak!" Marsh jumped.
"Oh! Marsh! Thank you for suggesting that!" Cocoa Cookie stood up, carried Marsh and spun around. "You're a genius!"
"Squeak....squeak..." Marsh mumbled, dizzy.
Cocoa Cookie stopped spinning and glanced at Marsh, grinning. "I may not afford those classes, but I do know someone who could help me!"
"Me?" Cherry Blossom Cookie pointed at herself. "You want me to teach you... etiquette lessons?"
Cocoa Cookie nodded. "Yeah! You are the most elegant person that I am close with. I think you can turn me from a mousey oaf to a posh lady!"
Cherry Blossom Cookie chuckled. "I'm glad you think of that of me...But are you absolutely sure of this?"
"Yes! I am sick of standing around, admiring Mint Choco from afar!" Cocoa Cookie replied. "I need to improve myself in order to have a chance!"
"You're really serious about this huh?" Cherry Blossom Cookie chuckled. "I do want to have a picnic. But I guess it could wait!"
"Really? You'll help me?" Cocoa Cookie asked, hopeful.
"Of course. Anything for my friend!" Cherry Blossom Cookie replied.
Cocoa Cookie jumped in glee. "Thank you!" She grabbed Cherry Blossom Cookie's hands. "You're the best!"
"No problem." Cherry Blossom grinned. "Let's not waste anymore time. It's to teach you to become the best person ever is!"
"Alright. Let's now commence Operation: Lady!" Cherry Blossom Cookie announced and tapped on the whiteboard. "I'll teach you mannerisms, way of dress, posture and speech! Understood?"
"Yes, ma'am!" Cocoa Cookie saluted.
"Cocoa, please don't slouch! Keep your posture straight!"
"What is this?" Cherry Blossom Cookie pointed at a fork, placed on a pink picnic table.
"Salad fork?" Cocoa Cookie asked.
"Wrong!" Cherry Blossom Cookie shook her head. "Let's start from the top!"
"Greetings. This is such a fine day, isn't it?" Cocoa Cookie declared.
"Good. But you need to improve your pronunciation a bit more...."
"Eat that slowly.... With finesse....."
Cocoa Cookie did so, eyes wet with tears.
"Awww! I'm so tired!" Cocoa Cookie cried as she slumped in a chair. "I never knew this could be hard work!"
"That's rich people life. Always trying really hard to be perfect." Cherry Blossom Cookie said.
"This feel impossible! I don't think I can do it!" Cocoa Cookie wailed.
"It sure is hard. But you want to attract Mint Choco Cookie, do you?"
"Yes...." Cocoa Cookie nodded.
"Then you got to do everything you could to please him." Cherry Blossom Cookie advised.
"You're right. I have to." Cocoa Cookie stood up. "Let's do it."
The lessons continued on for the next few days. Although it's rigorous, Cocoa Cookie soldiered on. Little by little, she is improving.
"Nice balancing of books. Well done." Cherry Blossom Cookie applauded.
"Thank you, kindly." Cocoa Cookie curtsied.
Cocoa Cookie applied make-up to her face as gentle as possible.
"Would you like some tea?" Cherry Blossom cookie asked.
"Of course." Cocoa Cookie gave a nod.
Cherry Blossom picked up a teapot and poured some tea onto a cup.
"Thank you, kindly." Cocoa Cookie lifted up the saucer as graceful as she can be and picked up the teacup, her pinky lifted up, and took a sip. "Hmm....Delicious."
Cherry Blossom Cookie grinned proudly. "That concludes my lessons! But first, we need to visit your seamstress again. Your gown doesn't match your new persona."
"Oh? Another dress?" Chocolate Bonbon Cookie asked.
"Yep. Your first gown for her was nice, but it's not formal enough."
Chocolate Bonbon frowned. "Oh dear. This is sudden. I don't think I can make a new one at this time. Buuuuut I still have some dresses that weren't picked up. Perhaps one of those would suit her?"
"Okay. You ready?" Cherry Blossom Cookie asked.
"Yes. I'm ready." A yell came out of the fitting room.
"Come out and show us, dearie." Chocolate Bonbon Cookie said.
The curtains were pushed open, and Cocoa Cookie came out. She wore a pimped out Rococo gown with lots of ribbons and frills, as well as a huge hat a top her ridiculously curled hair.
"Wonderful! Just wonderful!" Cherry Blossom Cookie applauded. "You looked stunning, Cocoa Cookie!"
"Thank you, kindly." Cocoa Cookie curtsied. "Please refrain from calling me that name. From now on, I'm Chocolat Cookie."
"Oh. Is that so? Alright. Pleased to make acquaintance, Chocolat Cookie." Cherry Blossom Cookie bowed.
"........." Chocolate Bonbon stood there, folding her arms.
Chocolat Cookie stood up straight. "Now, let's not waste anymore moment. It's time for us to head home and continue our preparations for the upcoming festivity."
"Of course." Cherry Blossom Cookie nodded. "You go first."
Chocolat Cookie nodded and headed towards the door.
Cherry Blossom Cookie took some steps, but some hands stopped her. She glanced at the back and saw Chocolate Bonbon Cookie, giving her a cold gaze.
"We need to talk." She muttered. "Now."
"Oh. So that's how it is." Chocolate Bonbon Cookie nodded, as Cherry Blossom Cookie finished her story. "That explains her behavior at the first fitting."
"Yeah. She adores Mint Choco Cookie, but she insists it's not romance." Cherry Blossom Cookie said.
"Clearly that's not the case. If she isn't, she won't go through with this..." Chocolate Bonbon Cookie murmured.
She sighed. "Normally, I'm all for this. But this...." She shook her head. "This feels forced. Unnatural. The gown I gave her doesn't suit her well. And it lacks.....soul...."
"Eh. It kinda is." Cherry Blossom Cookie agreed. "But, she wants it. So I just gave it to her. As long as she's happy, then I'm happy." She shrugged.
Chocolate Bonbon Cookie bit her lip and nodded.
"Welp. Got to go. I'm itching to have a picnic!" She stood up. "See you at the party. I bet you'll come, right?"
"I'll see if it fits my schedule," was Chocolate Bonbon Cookie's reply.
"Okay. See you there...I hope!" Cherry Blossom Cookie rushed out of the establishment.
Before Chocolate Bonbon Cookie knew it, Cherry Blossom Cookie was gone.
"Sigh...." She went to her couch, sat on it, and rubbed her temples... "Oh dear me... A transformation....This....can't be good...."
"Squeak!" Marsh jumped in suprise when he saw Chocolat Cookie.
"I'm back, Marsh! Your plan was a success!" She greeted her hamster.
She gestured at herself. "Look at me. I'm Chocolat Cookie now. Fancier, glamourous, and more sophisticated." She spun around. "Now I can attract Mint Choco's attention now." She cooed.
"Squeak!" Marsh cheered.
"Now excuse me. I have dance practice to attend." Chocolat Cookie turned around. "Ta-ta!"
News of Chocolat Cookie's transformation made quick rounds at Cuckoo Town. The population have mixed opinions about it.
"No! How could she do it to herself?!"
"Are you kidding, she's fashionable!"
"That gown ain't fashion! It's a kid's craft! And a poor one at that!"
Chocolat Cookie ignored the comments and continued on with her days, preparing for the big event by reading up on literature and improving her singing and dancing.
Cherry Blossom Cookie glanced at her, beaming with pride. She's proud of Chocolat's transformation.
"A bit uptight now..." Cherry Blossom Cookie observed. "But that's okay. She's the right fit for Mint Choco cookie now!"
With that, Cherry Blossom Cookie focused on her own preparations as well....
------
Over time however, Chocolat Cookie's behavior seemed to worsen. She's totally forgoing her old life. Not only that, she's becoming more...mean. Standoffish, even.
-----
"I'm sorry. But chocolate's like that aren't my thing anymore. Too low-grade in terms of quality."
------
"No thank you! I ain't talking to commoners like you!"
------
"It's Cho-co-lat. Get your pronunciation right!"
------
"Oh no!" Cherry Blossom Cookie looked on in worry as she saw Chocolat Cookie shoving Chestnut Cookie away.
Chocolat Cookie soon waltzed off, insulting an elder cookie.
That wasn't like Chocolat Cookie at all. She's becoming a totally different person! Someone meaner, and nastier!
Soon, Marsh appeared at the scene.
"Squeak! Squeak!" He shouted.
"Ugh. I told you to not get in my way!" Chocolat Cookie yelled. "I am busy!"
"Squeak!" He got near her.
"Eww! Go away!" She pushed Marsh away. "You'll dirty my outfit!"
She marched off, while Marsh headed the opposite direction, in tears.
Cherry Blossom Cookie clenched her fist. This has got to stop! She must confront Chocolat Cookie about her behavior at once.
Soul jam filled with determination, she rushed after Chocolat Cookie.
"What?!" Chocolat Cookie cried out.
Cherry Blossom Cookie glanced at her, serious. "Please stop being like a rich lady. This is doing more harm than good."
"How could you betray me! You're supposed to support me!"
"Of course I do. I do wish you success." Cherry Blossom Cookie sighed. "But not like this. Not when it is hurting others."
"I cannot let go of this persona! This is the only way to get noticed." Chocolat Cookie protested.
"There are other ways to get close to him." Cherry Blossom Cookie noted. "Hell, I think you already got it."
"So you're against me now." Chocolat Cookie replied, stare stone cold. "If that's what it is, then I'm afraid we're no longer friends."
Chocolat Cookie turned around and waltzed off.
"Chocolat! Wait!" Cherry Blossom Cookie called out and rushed after Chocolat Cookie. "Come back!"
Cherry Blossom Cookie rushed after her.
Unbeknownst to her, a hooded, masked man with green hair was observing from afar.
"Unbelievable." He shook his head. "It cannot be......"
He walked off to parts unknown.
"I told you it's not a good fit..." Chocolate Bonbon Cookie replied matter-of-factly, cellphone on her ear as she's sewing another gown, her own.
"Yeah. I know." Cherry Blossom sighed at the end of the line. "I should have listened to you."
"You tried to talk with her?" Chocolate Bonbon Cookie rotated the gown.
"Yeah. No use. She won't answer my calls. And she won't open the door."
"This is really serious." Chocolate Bonbon Cookie removed the gown from the sewing machine. She stood up and walked towards a mannequin. "She could cause trouble at the party."
"Yeah. Which is worrying me. What am I going to do!?" Cherry Blossom Cookie cried out.
Chocolate Bonbon Cookie was about reply, but before she could do so there was a frantic knock on the door.
"Oh dear. Sorry, but I have go." Chocolate Bonbon Cookie said. "But don't worry. We'll figure things out."
"I hope so." Cherry Blossom Cookie replied.
Chocolate Bonbon Cookie ended the call. She placed the dress on the mannequin headed towards the door and opened the door.
"Good morning." Chocolate Bonbon Cookie greeted. How may I help you-"
She noticed the customer and gasped.
The night of the birthday bash arrived. People wearing elegant gowns and sharp tuxedos arrived at Cheesecake Cookie's Mansion, decorated to the brim with ribbons, balloons, and lots and lots of sparkles.
"Whoa! Nice! They sure went out went out of their way to decorate this huge mansion for the event!" Cherry Blossom Cookie, wearing a japanese-inspired gown with cherry blossom petal patterns, observed.
"Of course! It's a way to make this event special!" A cheerful voice replied.
"Oh!" Cherry Blossom gasped and glanced to the front. Cheesecake Cookie is at the front, wearing a glamourous black gown and a white feather boa wrapped around her. "Cheesecake Cookie!"
They hugged together.
"So nice of you to be here!" Cheesecake Cookie exclaimed.
"Wouldn't miss this for the world!" Cherry Blossom Cookie replied. "By the way, happy birthday!"
She handed a box to her.
"Whoa! Thank you very much!" Cheesecake Cookie cheered. "I'll make sure to open this, as well as others, after the party!"
"Looking forward to that." Cherry Blossom Cookie grinned.
"By the way, you're alone tonight? Where's your sister? Or friend?" Cheesecake Cookie asked.
"Yeah. Just me. Cherry Cookie will arrive later, though." Cherry Blossom Cookie explained. "As for Cocoa—I mean Chocolat— Cookie, me and I had a fight. She'll come later, too. But we're no longer friends."
"Yeah. I heard about the news. Sorry about that." Cheesecake Cookie gave a sympathetic look.
"Eh." Cherry Blossom Cookie shrugged. "I should have done more."
All of a sudden, Cheesecake Cookie gave an enigmatic look. "Don't worry. Things will work out in the end."
"Uhm. Okay." Cherry Blossom Cookie replied, confused about the host's expression.
"In the meantime, head inside and enjoy yourself!" Cheesecake Cookie's expression returned to normal.
"Of course!" Cherry Blossom Cookie smiled. "See you around!"
Cheesecake Cookie waved goodbye and headed off to greet other guests.
"I wonder what was that about... I hope it ain't something serious." Cherry Blossom Cookie wondered before shrugging. "Oh well. I'll wonder about that later. For now, I'll enjoy the night...."
She glanced to the side, worried. "Hopefully no trouble will occur. I'm worried for everyone. And for Co—Chocolat."
Cherry Blossom Cookie entered the mansion. She marvelled at the decors, which were as glamorous as the outside.
"Some champagne?" A waiter offered.
"Yes. Thank you." She grabbed a glass.
She walked forward. Soon, she encountered GingerBrave Cookie and his friends.
"Looking good, Cherry Blossom Cookie!" GingerBrave Cookie complimented her.
"Thanks. That suit looks snazzy as well." Cherry Blossom Cookie replied.
"Eh. I'm not feeling it. Too tight!" GingerBrave Cookie frowned. "I could have just went here with my bow!"
"Ah. That's so you! Always the rule-breaker!" GingerBright Cookie, wearing a pink off shoulder gown, chuckled.
"You know you can't always have your way." Cherry Blossom Cookie sighed.
"Yeah. That's why I'm wearing this suit now." GingerBrave Cookie replied. "Later on though, I'll remove this nuisance and Cheesecake Cookie can't do anything about it!" He lifted his cane up.
"Sure. Whatever you say." Cherry Blossom Cookie nodded. "Just don't get caught."
Soon, Cherry Cookie appeared, wearing a very short cocktail dress under her usual hood. "Hiya sis! I'm here! Am I late?"
"Nope! The party is not yet starting." Cherry Blossom Cookie replied.
"Neat! I'm just in time! Can't wait for the fireworks! I wanna hear the boom pow!" Cherry Cookie shouted.
"You'll have to wait for midnight." Cherry Blossom Cookie said. "In the meantime, why don't you go to the courtyard? You can play with other younger guests there."
"Okiedokie!" Cherry Cookie nodded. "Check ya later!"
Cherry Blossom Cookie rushed off.
"Good thing she didn't bring her bombs." Strawberry Cookie observed.
"I banned her from doing so. She caused more trouble than usual at one of my picnics." Cherry Blossom Cookie huffed. "So much stuff ruined! I should have been less lenient with her before! Thank goodness she listened to me."
Soon there was a loud sound.
"Blang!"
All the guests turned towards the entrance. Chocolat Cookie appeared, wearing an over-the-top orange ballgown and too much makeup. A tall bun decorated with pearls is on the top of her head.
"Good evening, everyone! I, Chocolat Cookie, has arrived!"
She strutted inside, bumping and stepping everyone she came across.
"Oh dear me...." GingerBright winced. "That sure is quite an entrance."
Skater Cookie folded his arms. "Hurtful as shit. Not cool. Not cool at all."
They watched on, as Chocolat Cookie approached the bar, where Sparkling Cookie is situated.
"Good evening, handsome!" Chocolat Cookie grinned.
"Good evening...." Sparkling Cookie greeted, looking a bit uncomfortable.
"May I have your finest drink?" Chocolat Cookie asked.
"Sure." Sparkling Cookie immediately fulfilled her order. "Here you go." He handed a mug of cocoa.
Chocolat Cookie stuck her tongue out. "Gross! I need a more complicated one."
Remaining calm despite the rude behavior, Sparkling Cookie fulfilled a more glamorous drink, Champagne Cosmopolitan.
"Much Better." Chocolat Cookie grabbed the drink, took one sip and headed off, shoving another guest to the side.
"Geez. What is going on with her?" Gingerbrave scratched his head.
"She became a different person!" Gingerbrave observed.
"Uhm...I..." Cherry Blossom Cookie stammered.
GingerBrave Cookie and his friends looked at her.
"Yes?" GingerBright asked.
"It's...my...fault..." Cherry Blossom Cookie sighed.
"What?!" They all gasped.
"It's true!" Cherry Blossom Cookie replied. "She came to me for help her transform to a richer lady. So I helped her."
"Huh? For real? I thought that was Princess Cookie's thing." GingerBrave Cookie pondered.
"Well, they don't know each other." GingerBright Cookie pointed out. "So it makes sense that she'll ask Cherry Blossom Cookie for help."
"But to change herself? For Mint Choco?" Skater Cookie asked. "She should know better to not do that!"
"Don't blame her...." Strawberry Cookie chimed in. "She only does what she thinks will help....."
"Yeah. But if it causes more harm than good, then it ain't worth doing!" GingerBrave Cookie replied.
"You gotta snap her out of it!" GingerBright Cookie pleaded.
"I tried to. But she won't listen!" Cherry Blossom said.
"Don't lose hope. You must try again..." Strawberry Cookie said.
"Okay. I'll try...." Cherry Blossom Cookie declared.
They heard loud footsteps. They turned to look at Chocolat Cookie, who was heading to the next room.
"There she goes!" Cherry Blossom Cookie observed. "I'll go after her."
"Good luck, sis." Skater Cookie said.
"You can do it!" Gingerbrave Cookie added.
"Thanks!" Cherry Blossom Cookie smiled. She turned around and rushed after Chocolat Cookie.
"Ugh? You again?" Chocolat Cookie rolled her eyes upon seeing Cherry Blossom Cookie.
"Yeah! It's me!" Cherry Blossom Cookie yelled. "You must stop this! Please! Go back to being Cocoa Cookie!"
"And lose Mint Choco? Absolutely not!" Chocolat Cookie huffed. "That person is lowly and uncouth. Not what Mint Choco likes."
"Cocoa Cookie is not lowly!" Cherry Blossom Cookie shouted. "She is a kind person who cares for people!"
"And that's all there is to her." Chocolat Cookie said. "One trait is not enough to stand out."
"Oh no...." Cherry Blossom Cookie internally panicked. "I'm losing...."
She glanced at the door. She hasn't seen Chocolate Bonbon Cookie. Didn't she say that she's going to help her? So where is she? Won't she come?
She turned towards Chocolat Cookie.
"You don't need to be flashy and over the top to be special to someone. You need to be truthful to yourself."
"Cherry Blossom's right." A male voice exclaimed all of a sudden.
Both ladies turned around. At the entrance is Mint Choco Cookie, dressed in a green tuxedo with golden embroidery and feathered hat. Accompanying him is Chocolate Bonbon Cookie, wearing a light brown gown. She was carrying something huge.
"Oh! Mint Choco!" Chocolat Bonbon ran towards him, smiling from ear to ear. "What a fine evening this is, huh?"
Mint Choco Cookie looked at Cherry Blossom Cookie.
"Thank you. I'll take it from here." He said.
"Of course. I'll just be right here just in case things go wrong." She replied.
Cherry Blossom walked towards the other direction.
"I'll be going as well. Good luck." Chocolate Bonbon Cookie said headed there to accompany her.
Mint Choco nodded at Chocolate Bonbon Cookie, and looked back at Chocolat Bonbon Cookie, who continued talking to him.
"I'm so glad I came tonight! I'll be able to listen to your music! They're positively delightful!"
"Cocoa Cookie." He called out.
"You're able to move your hand with such ease!" Chocolat Cookie continued on with her rambling.
"Cocoa Cookie." He repeated.
"You're composition is just perfect! You're truly a maestro with your craft! Very impressive!" Chocolat Cookie continued. "I'm very excited for your concert. But now I'm positively hungry! Let's have a meal, shall we?"
"Cocoa Cookie!" He shouted and placed his hands on shoulders. "Please listen to me!"
"Oh!" Chocolat Cookie gasped. "What's wrong?"
"Everything." Mint Choco Cookie replied. "Absolutely everything."
"Oh. Nothing terrible is going on!" Chocolat Cookie insisted.
"Please. Don't play tricks on me." Mint Choco Cookie replied. "I know what you're up to. Chocolate Bonbon Cookie told me everything."
Chocolat Cookie's mouth dropped. ".....What?"
Mint Choco Cookie sighed. "At first, I was in denial. You're not one to do things like this. So when I heard news of your behavior, I refuse to believe it. Then I conducted a secret visit at the town to see it for myself, and saw you fighting with Cherry Blossom Cookie. I couldn't believe my eyes. You've really transformed. I visited Chocolate Bonbon Cookie few days later, who told me the entire story."
Chocolat Cookie went silent, too stunned to say anything.
"I appreciate your effort." Mint Choco Cookie continued. "Unfortunately, I can't appreciate it."
Chocolat Cookie looked crestfallen. "Why? I'm doing this for you! I'm doing this to get your attention...."
"This..." He gestured at her gaudy appearance. "Wasn't what brought my attention to you."
He grabbed the wig and removed it from her head. Her natural brown hair cascaded down.
"This is." He whispered.
"....Really?" She asked. "You loved my plain hair?"
"Of course. It has the right color and texture, complimenting your skin." He said. "Your usual style is delightful, traditional and comfortable."
Chocolat Cookie nodded, teary-eyed.
"But the one I really liked the most, is your personality." Mint Choco declared. "Your calmness, kindness to everyone and hope, even when you're in difficult situations."
"But.... The others... the rumors...." Chocolat Cookie stammered.
"Are just rumors." He replied. "Don't get me wrong, I worked with them before. They're pleasant people. But none of them compare to you....The real you..."
Chocolat Cookie gasped. "You...you..."
"Yes, Cocoa Cookie." Mint Choco. " You're my special one."
"Really? Since when?" Chocolat Cookie asked.
"Since the first time you attended my concert." Mint Choco Cookie replied. "Your genuine interest in music, your passion with cocoa, as well as respect for my boundaries won me over. What you lack in riches or popularity, you make up with your huge heart."
He gave a huge smile. "You are perfect the way you are. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise."
Chocolat Cookie stood there, crying.
"Thank you. Thank you for loving me the way I am."
"Of course. I love your entire being. Your symphony lights up my orchestra of life in many wonderful ways possible. The melodies we make together are magical. I'd like for us to continue performing it longer." Mint Choco smiled. "Cocoa Cookie, will you take me on as your partner?"
"Oh! Oh!" Cocoa Cookie covered her mouth, tears falling down her face. "Yes! I do!"
They both hugged each other.
"I'm sorry about this." Cocoa Cookie cried.
"I made things worse for you, and for everyone."
"It's alright. You only thought to do what was best." Mint Choco said. "Always remember, that being truthful to yourself is the best thing to do."
"You're right." Cocoa Cookie nodded. "I don't like this gown anymore. I want to change out of this."
"I thought you would say that." Chocolate Bonbon Cookie said, as she approached with Cherry Blossom Cookie.
"Oh! Hello to you both!" Cocoa Cookie greeted. She then approached Cherry Blossom Cookie. "I'm so sorry for being mean. I got carried away. It was not my intention to hurt you."
"Don't worry. I understand." Cherry Blossom Cookie smiled. "So, we're good, Chocolat Cookie?"
"Yes." Cocoa Cookie smiled. "We're still friends. And I'm switching back to Cocoa Cookie."
"Good!" Cherry Blossom Cookie smiled.
"Ahem." Chocolate Bonbon Cookie coughed.
"Sorry about that." Cocoa Cookie bowed. "Please continue on."
Chocolate Bonbon Cookie smiled. "As I was saying. I knew this would happen. Which is why I brought this!" She lifted up the huge bag. "I brought another gown for you!"
"That's great! Thank you very much!" Cocoa Cookie cheered. "I'll change to it away!"
"Nervous, Mint Choco Cookie?" Chocolate Bonbon Cookie asked as they waited outside the bathroom.
"Not at all." He replied, despite the fact that he is sweaty.
"Liar." Cherry Blossom Cookie snickered. "Just say you're excited to see her."
Soon they heard the door opened. They turned to look, and saw Cocoa Cookie. She's now wearing a red ballgown with gold detailings, as well as a white boa. A glamourous hat adorned her hair.
"Whoa?! Stunning!" Cherry Blossom Cookie remarked.
"You look beautiful, dearie." Chocolate Bonbon Cookie chimed in.
"Thank you." Cocoa cookie beamed. She glanced at Mint Choco Cookie and smiled. "What do you think."
"Positively divine. A better fit for a lady like you." He grabbed her hand and kissed it.
"My. Thank you..." Cocoa Cookie bowed.
She glanced at the trio and grinned. "Now I feel ready to enjoy the night. Want to come with me?"
"Of course!" Cherry Blossom Cookie nodded.
"Count me in, dear." Chocolate Bonbon Cookie nodded.
"Forgive me ladies. But I have a concert to prepare for." Mint Choco bowed. "But I can hang out afterwards."
"Of course. Good luck." Cocoa Cookie gave a peck on his cheek.
He smiled. "Of course. I will do my best for you."
"Glad things worked out!" Cheesecake Cookie exclaimed later on.
"Yeah. He managed to knock some sense to me." Cocoa Cookie nodded.
"He's such a great person. A true gentleman." She smiled. "You're great for each other."
Cocoa Cookie blushed. "Oh! Uhm... Thanks...."
"Don't mention it..." She waved it off. "Hope you enjoy your first night together as a couple! Now excuse me, I need to go there and start this party."
"Wait. It hasn't started yet?" Cocoa Cookie asked.
"Heavens, no! That was just the preparation period!" Cheesecake Cookie replied. "The real fun starts next!"
Cocoa Cookie blinked. Then she looked at Cheesecake. "You're in the plan, aren't you? For Mint Choco to talk to me?"
"Guilty as charged." Cheesecake Cookie bowed. "My dear Chocolate Bonbon asked me for assistance and I couldn't say no. I'm returning the favor, after she provided me so much with her wonderful clothing."
"Oh you! Sneaky!" Cocoa Cookie gasped.
Cheesecake Cookie giggled. "Yeah. That's true. But it worked out, so its worth it."
"Yeah. It is. Thank you for that." Cocoa Cookie hugged Cheesecake Cookie.
"Of course." Cheesecake Cookie nodded.
"Now go there." Cocoa Cookie urged. "Don't keep the guests impatient."
"Sure thing, dear. Enjoy the night!" She blew a flying kiss and left.
The party officially started in full swing. Mint Choco Cookie took the stage and played some delightful tunes.
"Ah. Cocoa! My favorite!" Cocoa Cookie grabbed a cup of her favorite drink from Sparkling Water Cookie. "You gave it to me without me saying anything!"
"Of course. I know your preferences." Sparkling Cookie replied.
"Thank you and much apologies." Cocoa said.
"It's alright. We all do mistakes." Sparkling Water Cookie said. "What's important is you learned from them."
"I do. I am going to enjoy this night, as myself."
She said her thanks and approached the stage area. Mint Choco Cookie finish his piece.
"Amazing! Bravo!" Cocoa Cookie clapped alongside others in attendance.
Mint Choco Cookie bowed.
"Thank you for liking this piece." He stood back up. "Your appreciation gives me inspiration to perform this brand new creation, debuting this night. A piece inspired by my very special someone, who is at the crowd at this moment."
He glanced at Cocoa Cookie and gave her a flying kiss. She smiled and returned it with one of her own.
"This is a romantic piece, titled "Going Coco-loco Over You."
With that, he started playing.
Soon, Mint Choco's performance was over, and DJ Cookie took stage. Others were dancing to the beat with smiles on their faces.
Meanwhile, Cocoa Cookie was at the balcony with Cherry Blossom Cookie and Chocolate Bonbon Cookie.
"Can you believe it?" Cherry Blossom Cookie grinned. "He wrote music dedicated to you!"
"The title was a bit wonky." Chocolate Bonbon Cookie noted. "But the musical tones just hits the spot. It captures the feeling you get after eating a good dessert."
"So true!" Cocoa Cookie nodded, looking blissful. "That music.... so divine....so sweet..."
She let out a loud sigh. Hearts appeared behind her. "I love it!"
"I'm glad you enjoyed my performance." Mint Choco Cookie said, as we walked towards the girls.
"Ahhh! I do!" Cocoa Cookie cheered. "You're so amazing! You really went the extra mile for me!"
"Anything for my leading lady." Mint Choco Cookie replied.
"Welp. We're going elsewhere." Cherry Blossom Cookie announced.
"Enjoy your date..." Chocolate Bonbon Cookie whispered.
The two ladies hurriedly left.
"Jeez." Cocoa Cookie shook her head, laughing. "They're such good supporters... I'm thankful for that... this wouldn't happen without them...."
"They sure made it possible." Mint Choco Cookie replied. "It was a long journey, but we manage to reach the good part."
"Romance....A life with you..." Cocoa Cookie muttered. "This...will be difficult...With your busy schedule....And my small town life..."
"It sure is." Mint Choco Cookie agreed. "But despite the difficulties, we'll make it possible. We'll continue to compose wonderful melodies, just the two of us...."
Cocoa Cookie smiled. "Can't wait for that."
They soon both hear excited commotion at the bottom. They looked down and saw Cherry Cookie helping Firecracker Cookie.
"The fireworks! They're about to start!" Mint Choco Cookie remarked.
Cherry Cookie handed a match to Firecracker Cookie.
"Let's end this night with a bang!" They declared and lit up the fuse. The fireworks went up to the sky and exploded in a flash of light.....
"And coins! So extra!" Cocoa Cookie giggled.
Coins fell down the ground. Cookies outside screamed with joy and rushed to pick up the goodies.
The couple giggled. Then they looked at each other.
"Flashy. And unconventional. But it's a perfect way to celebrate our new relationship." Mint Choco Cookie gently wrapped his arms around Cocoa Cookie.
"A beautiful chapter awaits for us." Cocoa Cookie whispered.
"Here's to more music-filled moments together." Mint Choco declared.
"Looking forward to spend it with you." Cocoa Cookie smiled.
The two of them kissed, as the coin fireworks continued to light up the night sky.
1 year later......
Cocoa cookie is jumping around, hugging Marsh excitedly.
"Can you believe it, Marshie? Mint Choco Cookie is coming back after his tour!" She squealed.
"Squeak! Squeak!" Marshie cheered, happy with the news.
"I know! I could hardly contain myself! It was so long since we last meet! Him busy with concerts, me with my small chocolate business. But now we have time to hang! He's going to arrive any time now!"
There's a knock on the door.
"Oh! Could it be? Could it be?" She and Marsh rushed towards the door. Upon opening it, Mint Choco Cookie appeared, a huge box in hand.
"Hello! I'm back, Cocoa!" He greeted.
"Mint Choco! You're here!" She released Marsh and hugged Mint Choco Cookie tightly. "I missed you!"
"I missed you too!" He replied and kissed Cocoa Cookie on the cheek. "It's different that I don't get to see you in my concerts."
"Yeah. Establishing that business took my time." Cocoa Cookie looked apologetic. "I'm sorry I didn't get to come to them now."
"Don't worry. I understand. Luckily you'll have a chance. My next concert will take place nearby. It will happen next month." Mint Choco Cookie said.
"Wonderful! I'll definitely come!" Cocoa cookie said.
"Excellent. Looking forward to your attendance." Mint Choco Cookie smiled. "Oh. Before I forget, I have something for you."
He handed her the box.
"Oh! Thank you! I'll open it right away!"
She carefully unwrapped the box and opened it, revealling a gorgeous teacup set.
"Squeal! This is perfect! You know me so well!" Cocoa Cookie shrieked with joy. "Thank you!"
"You deserve the very best." Mint Choco Cookie replied.
"Awww.... So sweet of you... I'm so touched." Cocoa Cookie smiled. "I must repay you in kind. Would you like to have some snacks? I prepared some chocolate cake as well as some pastries."
On cue, Mint Choco Cookie's stomach grumbled.
"Hehehe. Guess I need to eat." Mint Choco Cookie chuckled. "Lead the way, Cocoa."
"Of course. Follow me." She turned around and walked towards the dining room.
"Squeak! Squeaaaak!" Marsh wailed.
"Oh Marsh. You can join in. I'll give you your fluffiest marshmallows." Cocoa smiled.
"Squeak!" Marsh cheered and followed after Cocoa.
Mint Choco chuckled. "That's my girl. Caring with pets. I'm so glad to be with her."
He followed towards the dining room, excited to bond with his special someone.
