Chapter Text
The girls sat outside the infirmary in complete silence. No one daring to speak after the telling off they had gotten, knowing it would set the others off giggling again. Of course, that silence didn’t last long when Gomez Addams came out the infirmary door grinning at the girls with his arm in a sling looking completely unfazed by the injury. “Come to check out my turf, eh?” he laughed but he was right, Gomez always seemed to be injured in some way or another and the curly haired DaVinci behind him rolling his eyes told the girls everything they needed to know about how it had happened. “Another experiment gone wrong boys?” Morticia asked raising a single perfectly manicured eyebrow at them, her signature dark lips lifting into a slight smirk. “You know me so well dear Tish. It’s almost as if we are destined to be one” the self-proclaimed poet’s wink only got a scoff from the girls mostly loudly from Isadora. “Dream on Addams!” the werewolf jeered which set the girls off giggling again until the nurse swung open the door looking even more disapproving than usual. Her glare only worsening when Gomez flashed her his charming smile before knowing he was pushing his luck and walking off, Isaac following close behind mouthing good luck to his sister as the group of girls stood to follow the nurse into the room.
“Must you always travel with your group like a heard of crows, Miss Frump?” Nurse asked glaring at the girls, clearly having already decided she was fed up with them, a matter that was not helped by Marilyn's mumble correcting her on the travelling preferences of crows. “We come as a pack Nurse!” Isadora insisted with a grin linking arms with Marilyn and Francoise who were either side of her, Francoise not getting the same kick from annoying the old woman that her friend did, shrinking in on herself a little. Isadora’s grin showing her fangs ever so slightly seemed to be the final straw for the nurse as minutes later Isadora was on the bench outside the room again with Marilyn, Francoise, and Larissa who had stayed quiet throughout this entire situation chewing discreetly on the inside of her lip until Morticia had slipped her some gum to chew instead. Just Morticia left in the infirmary as Nurse shinned a small torch in her eyes “Dare I ask why you need to be checked for a concussion, Morticia?” the woman grumbled but it was obvious she had a soft spot for the Dove. “Plausible deniability?” Morticia offered with one of those smiles that made all the teachers bend to her wish which never failed her as Nurse just rolled her eyes and nodded. “You’re fine. Go tell your friends. The blonde one’s going to give herself an ulcer worrying about you.” Morticia hopped off the bed and walked towards the door, calling over her shoulder with a huff as she sauntered out, “You know full well her name’s Larissa”.

“Do you guys ever feel weird being friends with a normie?” Marilyn hummed to the room laying on Larissa’s bed. The mainly monochrome room in Ophelia Hall had very quickly become the designated hangout spot for the girls and many evenings were spent lounging around in it quietly. Larissa’s head snapped up at the question, her brows furrowing in an almost maternal concern “Are those boys from Caliban picking on you again? Because if they are I swear I’ll-” before she could complete the threat Marilyn shook her head with wide eyes “No. No they haven’t bothered me since last time you delt with them…whatever you did…” with this reassurance, Larissa sunk back down to where she had been kneeling, painting Morticia’s nails. “No, dear, we don’t feel weird. We don’t care that you don’t have abilities” The blonde said comfortingly, backed up by Morticia who grinned at the younger girl “Exactly. Being an outcast is a state of mind, and you qualify.” She punctuated her statement with a wink before going back to blowing on the hand Larissa had just finished painting.
Having been bullied horrifically in her previous school, Marilyn had applied for Nevermore on a whim not thinking anything of it until she got the letter back informing her that her GPA had impressed the Principle so much he could offer her a place a grade ahead of her age group even if she lacked an outcast ability as he believed her intelligence and passion was enough. To say her parents were unapproving would be a vast understatement but after she was suspended from Jericho high for her low attendance, they had no other choice than to allow her to go, informing her she was to board full time as they didn’t want her coming home in that uniform every night. Marilyn Thornhill was far from an idiot, she knew the bullying wouldn’t stop just because she moved schools but after meeting the girls in the dorm next to her and them finding out about the bullies, it just stopped one day. And when she saw the way that the boys looked at Morticia and Larissa that day, she knew these were the people who would get her through her years at Nevermore. Now months later she has a whole friend group she can hang out with.
“New café’s opening in town, who wants to sneak out with me tomorrow night” Isadora’s voice snapped Marilyn out of her nostalgia as she zoned back into the conversation happening in the dorm enough to tease the other redhead “Should we expect a certain wannabe doctor to join us?” It was no secret Isadora had fallen for normie Rachel Fairburn as soon as they met and the girls had teased her over it relentlessly in an attempt to convince Isadora to make a move but with little success. “And what about it?” the werewolf grumbled throwing a cushion at Marilyn and swiftly getting a bat plushie thrown back at her knocking the book out of Francoise hand forcing her to acknowledge the others. “Franny. Weathervane. Come with.” Isadora said bluntly.

After just a few more minutes of begging, all five girls split off to get ready for the night out (despite the homework they probably should’ve been doing) and met at the school gates at 8pm on the dot ready to go out thinking they had gotten away with it when the bus pulled up until voices behind them stopped them in their tracks.
“And where do you think you’re going ladies? It’s past curfew.”
“Gomez don’t you dare snitch” Morticia half commanded, half pleaded as she spun around in her black go-go boots to see Gomez and Isaac stood behind them seemingly having had the same idea. “Let us come with and I won’t.” he reasoned so however begrudgingly, the group boarded the bus together and set off for the new coffee shops late night opening.
