Chapter Text
When Michael opened his eyes all he saw was a blinding light that shot pain through his head, he quickly shut his eyes and groaned his voice was all hoarse and far too loud as his head continued to throb at the same pace as his heart. He decided not to open his eyes again and focused on his other senses, touch; he felt small shells in between the grains of sand, the hard outer skin of the shell felt smooth, the base was small and spread out as it got towards the top, or what he could assume was the top. He dropped the shell and moved on to the next sense. Hearing; he heard water and wind blowing, waves crashed against what he assumed was rocks, and he heard leaves blowing in the wind. He couldn’t hear anything else so he rolled over. He barely moved an inch before pain shot through his back in between his shoulder blades. He winced and laid on his stomach for a while. He knew he needed to move. He didn’t even know where he was. The wind died down before he pushed himself up through the pain, when he was finally on his feet he squinted his eyes so the ache in his head wouldn’t worsen. When he opened his eyes all he saw was golden yellow sand and a dense tree line. He turned around and saw a vast ocean that got progressively darker blue. The farther he looked out, the sky was a light blue. It reminded him of his younger brother's eyes. Why is he thinking of Lucifer? He needs to focus on the issue at hand. To his right about 20 feet away was a cliff side that reached about 15 feet, that must’ve been what the waves were crashing against.
He didn’t move for about 10 minutes. The last thing Michael could remember was… suddenly a sharp pain entered his head. He winced and let out a painful groan. His voice was still hoarse and his throat felt like sand paper. When was the last time he had a drink? He isn’t stupid enough to drink the ocean water, it's most likely salt water which would not help his almost painfully dry throat. He started walking toward the trees. Michael felt like he was walking for days he can’t tell anyway, the sun has gone down twice since he has been on that shore, he felt like he was walking in circles, the barks of the trees looked exactly the same as the ones before. The leaves shook in fear, from him or something else? Having gone through intensive training while in heaven under his fathers care he could notice the slightest change in the environment, that’s what it took to be a leader, soldier..
The perfect son.
He felt like his training was failing him, everything was the same and there was no difference. Something felt off, maybe it was all in his head he was losing his mind, everything was slipping from his fingers, and he couldn’t grasp anything. Where is this place? He looked up through the tree top, the canopy was thick with dark green leaves but he could see slightly in between the leaves the sun was beating right above him, ‘it has to be noon’ he thought the angle wasn’t great but that's the best he could see at the moment. The farther he walked the more leaves there were on the ground, the rather loud crunchy brown leaves under his heavy feet made him internily cringe every step he took was taking a toll on him. He was already tired and wanted nothing more than to find out where he was and the safest place to take a quick nap, heaven taught him to be as quiet as possible when in unknown terrain but he couldn’t help where he stepped plus his exhausted mind could care less he just needed to find something different that wasn’t this never ending forest that seemed to stretch on forever after some more walking he started praying to his father, he needed to make it out of this forest.
He wanted to be back in heaven away from wherever this place was, something felt off and it was eating away at him, he was the leader of heaven's most feared army he shouldn’t feel uneasy but he was. This was Lucifer's fault, it had to be. He stopped in place for a moment and shook his head, the aching never went away but Michael had learned to ignore it for the meantime. He continued walking and finally came across a large hill much to his displeasure. Starting the tread up the hill had Michael's feet aching. It was far too steep in Michael's opinion. He pushed through the dull ache in his feet. The top was right there only a couple more steps right? Once he reached the top he sat down with his back against the hard bark. The sight was beautiful, the sky blended from a warm orange into a calming blue. When did the sun go down? This would be the third time it has come up. How long has he been here and why doesn't he know what day it is? He sighs and closes his eyes leaning his head back against the tree. After a few moments he heard a whistle, he opened his eyes and looked around at the bottom of the hill to his left he saw what looked like a cat it had a gray head with white around one of its eyes. ‘What is a cat doing here?’ He thought, standing up and slowly walking down the hill towards the cat. The cat backed up disappearing within the forest. “here kitty pspspsps” Michael called out as he got closer to where he had first seen the face, he could faintly still hear the whistling or was it hissing? As he walked through the woods once again it became clearer that it was infact hissing that he was hearing. After a couple minutes of following the noise it suddenly stopped, he froze in place “wha..” he mumbled shortly after he spoke a horrible shrieking sound was heard right behind him. Turning around so fast it almost made him dizzy he came face to face with what he thought was the cat from earlier but now he could see the whole body and this wasn't a cat like he had thought before, it had a leathery crest on its forehead sticking up like feathers that seem to shine silver in the sun when it peeked through the leaves.
It stood up stretching its fuzzy body. Once it was on its hind reptilian legs it let out a hissing sound, red smoke fell from its mouth like fog it dusted the floor around Michael's feet and he was overrun by dizziness and nausea. This is the worse then he has ever felt before, the second he started running he heard an ear piercing shriek, leaves and sticks broke under his feet and the monsters as it continued running after him, it was gaining on him, he could hear it get closer, all of a sudden he took a sharp turn right almost slipping on the damp leaves that littered the ground. In front of him stood a small chapel-like building, maybe he could hide in there for a while from the creature following quickly behind. A sudden push of adrenaline went through his body, pushing him harder, getting him closer to building. He slammed open the large wooden double doors and swung around almost tripping over his feet to slam the door shut completely. Michael placed his head in between his hands pressing his forehead against the door.
“This is gonna be a long existence in this place.”
