Chapter Text

------------------------
Oswalda wakes up to a disappointment that makes her sigh in frustration, the beautiful woman no longer asleep beside her like she once was.

Oswald stands, adjusting her long robe as she shuffles out of the warm room and down the stairs to look for Edwin. Oswalda finds herself grumbling angrily as she searches through the rooms only to find no traces.

It's only when she comes to the last door to check does she find the woman, hunched over some project. Oswalda crosses her arms with a squawking sound. “Enjoying yourself? While you left me to freeze.” Edwin looks over in surprise. “Oh, Oswalda. You're awake.” Oswalda scoffs in annoyance. “Not by choice, Someone decided to leave me.”

Edwin hums quietly. “I did not leave, I'm right here.” “You left me alone in the cold.” Oswalda states as if the feeling is worse than death. Edwin raises an eyebrow. “With blankets, more than what you had infact.” Oswalda huffs in offense. “And you think that's enough? We slept together. I expect us to wake together!” Edwin places her project into a safe spot where Oswalda hopefully will leave it be. “Would you be happy if I came back to bed, dear Cobblepot?” Oswalda puffs out in response, clearly far happier now that she got her way. “Very much so.”

Edwin takes the shorter woman's hand, walking her back to the bedroom. Edwin watches as she slips back under the covers, following suit upon being given an expecting look. Oswalda clings to her, Edwin wrapping her arms around her without much thought. “Comfortable?” Oswalda hums with a nod against her chest, letting out a breath as Edwin's hand finds her hair to brush through it absentmindedly. “Good.. That's good.” Oswalda slightly tilts her head to quietly speak out to her. “You're pretty like this, in my bed without worry. We should do this more.”

Edwin hums in quiet amusement, her hand gently untangling Oswalda's hair as she responds. “I think you just like knowing what I'm doing.” Edwin pokes Oswalda’s beak like nose, making her grunt and swat away her hand with her own. “You're a pain in my ass.” Edwin smiles at the words, holding her closer even as she grumbles. “I know.”

It isn't long before Edwin can hear the bird-like woman snoring once more, and Edwin finds himself drifting off as well, happier than she has been in a while.
