"Ough." Lyf groaned. Their head ached and there were faintly glowing rainbows swimming behind their eyes no matter how many times they opened and closed them. They flopped face first onto their bed, which they immediately regretted as the sudden impact sent another wave of pain through their skull. Instead of making any further moves to get under the blankets, they opted to just lay there, letting the haze of vagueness wash over them. Eventually they must have made it under the covers, as they remembered kicking them off to lay in the relatively cool air of the Aurora, tail held in their arms in lieu of a stuffed animal.
Maybe sleep will fix it. Lyf thought, or at least had the impression of thinking as they drifted off.
Sleep did not, in fact, fix it. When they awoke, the rainbows that had been swimming behind their eyes were now swimming in front of them, and behind them. They were all around them really, or at least Lyf thought they were. The headache that they hadn't thought could have gotten worse had, in fact, gotten worse and they whined a little in pain as they curled into a ball on their now bare bed, the blankets seemed to have fallen off at some point in the night? Day? Lyf didn't know how long they'd slept. A light poking at their shoulder shocked them a out of their stupor a little, just enough to look up at the very bright screen the Aurora had shoved in their face. After they had winced away from it long enough for her to understand and lower the brightness, they managed to read it.
WOULD YOU LIKE ME TO GET THE DOCTOR?
"'s not a real doctor." Mumbled Lyf, but they nodded regardless, burying their head back in their arms before the ship could subject them to more brightness.
More brightness came though, as the door to their room slid open and someone, Marius, they assumed through the haze, flicked on the light. Lyf shrieked at the sudden piercing brightness that filled the room and pulled their arms and tail tightly around their eyes, blocking out the worst of the light. After a moment of confusion and probably mild bewilderment, Marius turned the light back off, leaving Lyf in darkness once again.
"Lyf?" Marius asked, closing the door and sitting down gingerly on the end of the bed.
"Mm?" Was Lyf's only reply.
"There's, there's rainbows everywhere."
"In m' head too. 's full."
"Ah." It was unclear whether this was said in confusion or surety, but Marius seemed to have some semblance of an idea. "Is it alright if I touch your forehead?" Lyf shrugged and, after double checking the light was off, wriggled their head out from where it was buried so Marius could reach. A cool, metal hand rested against their forehead and sat there for a moment before the 'doctor' hummed an answer.
"I'm not sure what the fever threshold for Midgardians is, even less with... all this." Without looking, Lyf knew Marius was gesturing around the room at the rainbows that, based on what he had said, were apparently not just a figment of Lyf's imagination. "But I'd say this is pretty solidly a mild fever. Look's like you've got the spflu Inspector."
"'m gonna die?" Lyf looked longingly at where they assumed Marius's face was, it was hard to tell with all the darkness and rainbows.
"You're not going to die from the spflu." Marius laughed softly, brushing a strand of Lyf's hair out of their face. "Besides, we're immortal, remember? You'd just come back anyway."
"Forgot 'bout that." This garnered another chuckle from Marius.
"I'm going to get you some spibuprofen and some water, is there anything else you want?" After a moment of thinking as hard as they could in their sorry state, Lyf replied.
"Get Bri'n? 'm hot and he can be cold."
"One DrumBot Brian, coming right up." In the light of the door that he had opened, Lyf could see Marius salute in a way that hazily reminded them of the Toy Solider.
Lyf didn't have to wait long for Marius to return with Brian, as well as the medication he had promised. The DrumBot smiled softly at the frankly quite pathetic sight that Lyf was, and helped them up so they could take the tablets Marius placed in their hand. Once that was finished, Lyf settled back down in between their crewmates, their head rested in Brian's lap while Marius twisted their hair into a long braid, something they had neglected to do before they fell asleep initially and would have regretted when they were awake enough to notice. Eventually they drifted to sleep, though the others didn't move, their own sleep could wait, they had a sick Lyf to tend to.
