Work Text:
I wish I wasn’t so tired.
I can’t let anyone…see me like this…
just a moment…
I lie down on the nearby couch, glancing around twice to make sure no one is here. I fall asleep almost immediately after my head hits the cushioned arm.
—
‘Su-chaaaannnn~ funny to see you asleep.’
The voice immediately wakes me up, as I know exactly who it is…
And I am beyond mortified he’s seeing me this way…!
‘RITSU-SENPAI!!’ I shout, immediately springing about a metre in the air(at least it feels that way), my face burning.
‘Yeeeeessss~, Su-chan?’ He teases, smirking enough to show his fang.
‘I—you weren’t—I wasn’t—‘
‘I know exactly what you were doing, Su-chan, I watched you for half an hour. You’re so cute when you’re asleep…’
I bite my lip. Am I? Then I remember I must save my reputation.
‘N-no, I swear, it won’t h-happen again, I—‘
He snorts. ‘Relax, Su-chan, you look like shit. Your eyes are glassy, and you look like you’re gonna faint.’ His voice softens. ‘If youk’re worried I’m going to think you’re lazy, I don’t think that at all…plus, look who you’re talking to. Do you really think I care about you sleeping here? But,’ his voice drops even further, ‘it’s not the most comfortable. Do you want to come to my room? I can make you some tea, and you can sleep…’
The offer sounds horribly enticing to me. I can’t just say, ‘yes’ though…I’ll ruin any chance I have with him, which is probably none already, if I say I want to…
‘I know you’ll never agree. Come with me, Su-chan.’
I follow him, knowing it will be pointless to argue, as well as wondering how he knows me so well.
—
He pushes open the door to his room, which is empty. What a relief that is…at least no one else will see me like this.
‘Go lie down. I’ll put the kettle on.’
I oblige–it’s not as if I have a choice. He’d make me sleep if I didn’t listen.
But…it’s rare for anyone to take care of me like this. I mean, that’s because I usually try to hide my exhaustion, but today…it was just too much.
…His bed is warm. Not too warm, though…just right. Being tucked in like this is making me even more sleepy, if that’s possible.
‘Su-chan. It’s ready.’ He sits down next to me, holding the teacup out. It smells good, and he’s definitely put at least some sugar in it. I take a sip, and slowly drink it all as I lean against him.
‘You like it?’
I nod sleepily before yawning. ‘Yeah.’ I say as I drink the last of it and lie back down.
He cards his hand through my hair absently as I press my cheek against his bare thigh. It’s quite smooth and I vaguely wonder when he put shorts on, but I’m too out of it to care much. He normally tends to run cold, but I guess he feels warmer now because of the blankets. I’m…sleepy…
The world gradually descends into soft blackness.
—
I awaken tucked in the same spot. Ritsu hasn’t moved, still absently running his hand through my hair just like before. When he notices me stir, he lays down beside me, looking into my eyes with a soft smile. We stay like that for a while, not saying anything, until he speaks.
‘Feeling any better?’
‘A little’ I rasp out, my throat still dry.
He hands me a glass of water(when did that get here?) and I drink a bit, before putting it on the nightstand again. I know I should get up—I should do something—but I end up curling back into his side.
‘I love you.’ I say quietly.
‘I love you too’ he replies back, and I bury myself in his arms, inhaling the soft scent of him.
‘Always and forever.’
He buries his face in my hair, and I feel as if I could stay here, in this spot, forever.
I hold on tighter to him, and fall into his warmth once again.
