Work Text:

It was past 11 p.m. in Belobog, the city was enveloped in an indescribable calm, all the lights were off, illuminated only by the faint glow of the stars, except for the office where Bronya stubbornly resisted sleep while reading paperwork with endless budget bulletins.

With a heavy sigh, she leaned back in her chair and gave up trying to read the contract's clauses of demands. Letting her gaze wander out the half-open window, she watched the clouds slowly moving across the sky. After a few minutes observing the gentle movement of the clouds, the white-haired girl decided to leave the Fort Qlipoth for a while to stretch her legs and clear her mind.

While strolling through the now empty streets of Belobog, Bronya walked a little until she found a simple café, but one that, in her memories, evoked a pleasant sense of nostalgia. Looking up a little further, she spotted a purple silhouette on the roof, seemingly quite intrigued by the night sky.

Her clothes billowed lightly in the air, bringing a somewhat angelic feel to the scene. A shy smile appeared on her face as she delighted in the sight before the figure looked down, meeting Bronya's focused gaze, briefly startling the girl before disappearing from the rooftop.

When she turned her gaze back to the streets, searching for the person who had vanished, the person was beside her with a wide smile and an expectant look. “Tired of the office, princess?”

Bronya couldn't help but let out a slight, amused snort at the nickname. “Not yet, Seele, I have duties to fulfill as Supreme Guardian.”

The dark-haired girl paused for a moment, observing the other's face with a certain admiration and fascination, seemingly pondering what to say at that moment. Seele looked away and began, "You know, two years ago we had our first date at this coffee shop. I remember you were nervous, thinking I wouldn't like the place."

Bronya's gaze softened at the mention of the date; it was a memory she cherished. "So much has happened in that time..." A melancholic and weary feeling emanated from Bronya, but the girl beside her had other intentions.

"...I've been waiting for you to finish your work today, but it seems you're not done yet," Seele said with a somewhat shrewd tone, "So I had to change my plans in the meantime." Bronya didn't have time to register the words when she felt a hand on her waist, and in an instant she felt only the gentle breeze on her skin.

Bronya was on the rooftop where Seele had initially been. She let her gaze wander slightly and saw purple butterflies fly away, a sign that Seele had teleported them to the rooftop in a matter of seconds. Then, her gaze rested on the starry sky, now completely clear of clouds and filled with just a few stars emanting a faith light coming from outside.

The dark-haired girl moved a little closer to the other, letting her head rest on Bronya's shoulder as the two sat on the rooftop, snuggling close to each other.

Bronya felt calmer with Seele's somewhat unpredictable action. She could spend hours beside the girl just observing the night sky in comfortable silence, but soon her duties as Supreme Guardian weighed on her shoulders with the slight pause in her work. A tired sigh escaped Bronya, "I appreciate you taking me to the rooftop to observe better the stars, but—"

“Pff… I know, princess, your work is calling you, but I’m almost certain you can’t stand being stuck in that office reading those endless papers with endless demands for the rest of the night.” Seele interrupted Bronya with a muffled laugh, expecting the other girl to begin her speech about how important it was to finish her work, at least that night, and then she turned to Bronya, almost as if she were secretly pleading to her.

Bronya spent a few moments observing the other girl’s face, thoughtful about what she had just said. In a way, she wasn’t wrong, she had enough with reading so much paperwork that day. Bronya gave a brief laugh and held the other girl’s hand, “Maybe you’re right, and maybe we can spend the rest of the night together, for me, it doesn’t seem like a bad plan.”

Seele was happy that her girlfriend had accepted the discreet invitation, and then they spent a few more minutes watching the sky, while reveling in the comfortable silence. When she felt it was late enough, Seele took Bronya to their house, where they would share the rest of the night in the comfort of the couple's bed.

Bronya had the best sleep that night, feeling more awake to do the next duties she had “neglected” the other day, thanking Seele for helping her sleep.
