Fulgur viam umbrae illuminat.
Tenebrosity walked through the halls of the House, his mind desperately trying to shut out the noises of the arguing council. His hands clasped around his ears as he entered his room, curling up in the wisps of the dark. The pounding of his heart wouldn’t die down; it only seemed to get louder. His vision blurred and he could barely think straight.
The tiny shadow balled up into himself, tears beginning to fall as his senses became overwhelmed. Nothing would slow down, it only got faster.
Warm, almost shocking hands grasped Tenebrosity’s. The tiny umbra looked up, eyes blurry with tears. His sight fell onto white skin, and his mind clicked that it had to be someone new–surely, right?
Tenebrosity could tell that the kid was speaking to him, but he couldn’t hear one word he was saying. So, he dived into the newcomer’s mind, eyes widening a tad.
Is he okay? No one noticed he was missing…Why should I have to–no, don’t think like that. I shouldn’t think like that. I…
As his tears began to dry, Tenebrosity took a good look at who sat in front of him. A boy, perhaps, with long white hair and skin. His eyes were a bright yellow, and he wore a blue outfit. The shadow hummed quietly in surprise, not expecting a new Archaic to look so…neutral. Tenebrosity was having a difficult time to figure out what the element of this boy could possibly be!
Leaving his thoughts, Tenebrosity finally heard the boy speak. He could tell by his tone that he may have been saying that for a while…
“Hello? Are you even there?”
Why does he look like he’s listening to something?
Tenebrosity blinked back into his consciousness, nodding fervently. “Y-Yes! Yes, I am here…Sorry.”
The boy in front of him raised a suspicious brow, but did continue to speak.
“I noticed you left from the council, and I was wondering what’s wrong. What’s your name?”
Tenebrosity, he thought. But he soon realized he was the only one who could read minds–not like anyone knew. “T-Tenebrosity.”
“Tenebrosity, hm?” The boy tilted his head, curiosity sparking like a fire in his eyes. “Well, I’m Fulmination. Ful for short. You must be the umbra archaic, right? Judging by…your room…” Fulmination gestured to the whole room. Tenebrosity nodded, his mind thinking over the meaning of the boy’s name. A sudden flash startled him out of his train of thought, body flinching back from whatever it was.
Fulmination looked sheepish, moving an arm to cover his chest. Did the light come from him?
The light came again, clearly from Ful. He winced, curling in on himself. Embarrassment was written all over his face, definitely from the flashes of lights. After each flicker came a booming sound…thunder?
Aha! Darkness thought in glee. A big smile came on his face as he pointed to the flustered boy in front of him, speaking his conclusion. “You’re lightning! That explains why you flash!”
Fulmination shrunk in surprise, only to chuckle nervously when he realized Tenebrosity was right. “I am! I, aha...uhm...am.” He rubbed the back of his neck anxiously, beginning to stand to try and escape any further torture to his mind state.
Tenebrosity stood, grasping his hand before he could fully leave. “Wait! Please, don’t go. It’s not that bad to be lightning, right?” He gave a tiny smile.
Ful stared at him with worried eyes. He eyed the darkness’ hand with hesitancy…but soon took it. “I guess not–”
Another bright flare. The two stared at each other before dissolving into giggles, Tenebrosity poking the boy out of curiosity. “Hehe–you’re like a light bulb!”
As the two continued to laugh, the storm began to come to a close. It wasn’t so loud anymore, having gained a sense of peace, just like the two of them.
